Professional property host/manager
We booked this hotel for our visit to the Christmas market, it was brilliant as it was on the bus route for the park and ride so buses were frequent.
I had informed the hotel prior that we would be arriving before 3pm and would be leaving the car at the hotel, they very kindly responded saying that was fine just to make sure I checked the car so I didn't have to pay a fee and that they would see us when we came back from shopping.
Our room (premier plus) was lovely and spotless, and warm. Unfortunately our heating decided to switch itself off later on and the room became quite chilly especially as it was cold outside, but we just went to bed and we were fine.
We both had a lovely comfy sleep, so quiet.
Breakfast was lovely plenty choices whether continental or cooked. Cooked breakfast is made to order so there is a wait but it was well worth it. The staff at breakfast were lovely smiling and attentive.
This is definitely a Premier Inn hotel that we would recommend and use again
This is definitely
First time to this Premier Inn. Check in done online and straight through reception, no bother.
Clean and well kept room with modern bathroom.
One of the best breakfasts we’ve had from Premier Inn. Breakfast is on site next to reception where the hot selection is cooked fresh to order and served to your table. Cereals, bread, pastries, fruit, juices and tea/coffee is self serve. All allergies and intolerances catered for, the manager had a comprehensive list and nothing was too much trouble.
Large car park which is shared by the pub next door. Park and ride bus stops close by on the main road which we used several times. Bootham Bar is just a 25-30 minutes walk away.
We will certainly consider staying here again next time we visit York.
A great hotel , near to Park & Ride. A good restaurant next door The Dormouse . Comfortable Premier plus room. Breakfast was good too
Miserable reception staff on arrival, didn't crack a smile.
Room was "only just" ready, receptionist had to check! (4pm).
Laundry containers stored in stairwell - fire risk!
Key card didn't work (had two so could get in).
Fridge needed defrosting - see picture.
Bath screen was mouldy - see picture.
And upon getting into bed we discovered the TV did not work!
On raising these things at reception the next morning we were told "a few customers have said that"... But no hint of action being taken.
Fire doors propped open with bottles of cleaning chemicals (top of stair well too!).
No selection of juices at breakfast.
Breakfast staff sat and enjoyed the left over cooked breakfast items as a meal, while tables still needed cleaning and breakfast items awaited putting away. Cobwebs noted in dining room!
On the whole a poor experience, not remotely "premier plus" and we did not feel confident anything would be done to correct it when we began to raise issues before we left, so we didn't bother giving them the full list!
The hotel staff have always impressed us here over the years. The staff they employ here can’t do enough to help, they are really helpful and kind in particular the two staff in breakfast and front desk today.
The hotel has been recently updated and the rooms feel really nice and fresh too. This is perhaps the best Premier In. We have stayed in.
A great stay and location.
Stayed for 1 night in July for a shopping/sightseeing trip room was lovely and clean had a great night sleep, breakfast was spot on. After dark we went for a walk and the amount of wildlife nearby was incredible foxes bats rabbits (yes I live in a city) would definitely recommend. Staying again in November.
We checked in on a Saturday afternoon around 1.30pm and had to pay an extra charge for early check - in.
Sunday morning we were rudely woken by workmen working in the room above us.
Banging at 9am for around 60 mins.
Just when we wanted a lie in, no apology from reception.
The room 110 was very dated & the bathroom was tired.
For £181 I’d thought this was far too much.
We were moved to a standard room which was in a poor condition. Noise outside window at night so no sleep. Had to move to another room. Still poor. Breakfast poor. Not enough staff working. Should be closed during refurbishment as not good.
This hotel is a disgrace. Our room hadn’t been cleaned and there was bits of food all over the carpet and under the bed. The toilet was ‘stained’ and absolutely disgusting with no toilet paper available. Both my wife and myself felt we couldn’t sleep in the room due to the uncleanliness of it and we weren’t sure if the sheets were cleaned so could not sleep in the bed. There was only one member of staff in the whole building who informed us that the hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t change rooms and the nearest hotel available was over 20 miles away in Harrogate. This was unacceptable as we were looking forward to a weekend in York which was totally ruined and we ended up going home as customer service number was not available until after the weekend.
We booked this hotel for my wife’s 50th birthday trip to York. We arranged everything through the booking department and paid £135 for a Premier Plus room.
However, on arrival we were given a standard room – and I mean very standard, the quality was poor and worth no more than £65. We complained several times, only to be told it was our mistake and that Plus rooms were unavailable due to refurbishment.
Despite this, Premier Inn refused to refund even half the difference, insisting it was our fault.
Be very careful when booking – double-check exactly what you’re paying for, or you could end up being misled as we were.
Awful. Shabby curtains falling off rail, blood stain on duvet., no cups in room, bed unmade. Filthy windows. Moved rooms twice. Have complained.
Location worked for us
Lovely stay here. Had a premier plus room and was most impressed, much better than the one at Trentham Gardens. Whilst York was slightly smaller room the design was much better. The placing of the wardrobe by the window increased the day light into the room considerably and the air conditioned hotel was much quieter. Breakfast was well organised and served quickly, all fresh cooked. We’ve booked again in December and are looking forward to it.
Premiere Inn tends to have a reliable and decent basic fix out and service standard. This one falls short. The whole hotel is in need of refurb or the minimum significant maintenance. The room was tired looking, paint chipped, bathroom fixtures rusty and a fair bit of deep set dirt and mould. The furniture was scratched and worn out looking and lighting poor. The carpet was worn and musty. No air conditioning so it was boiling in the room overnight, a fan was provided which helped a little. Staff were friendly and helpful, can't fault the guys working there they were great, must be disheartening working in a hotel that is in great need of a refurb. The breakfast was good, cooked to order and a decent supply of other breakfast items to help yourself. Location was very good. The pub next door (The Dormouse) was very nice with excellent pub grub and friendly staff and a pleasant pub atmosphere. Very nice. There are a lot of decent walks and a walk into York if you have the legs for it. Overall a good stay but let down by the condition of the condition and worn out nature of the hotel.
Lovely stay, friendly helpful staff, nice hot breakfast, good base to explore York. Next doot to a good pub surrounded by apply and pear trees. Will definitely be staying again and would recommend.
Perfect location just outside city centre we caught the bus just outside the hotel which is handy trying to find a car park that wasn't going to cost arm or leg lol perfect room comfy bed very friendly and clean.
If you’re looking for a newer refurbed fresh premier inn, do not book. BUT if youre looking for a cheap stay with easy transport to city centre, nice staff, clean hotel, plenty of parking and a decent pub steps away then i definitely recommend. I stayed with my mum in a triple room (one double bed and one single sofa bed) and paid £109 per person for two nights so very reasonable! Park and ride is a 4 minute drive away costing around £8 return for two adults and only takes about 15 minutes. Retail park nearby and big tesco. Was fine for what we needed, slightly dated, but who cares - its clean and reasonably priced.
On arrival the man on reception very loudly announced what room number I was staying in. As a solo female this is rather worrying as had there been anyone else in earshot they would have known exactly where I was staying. Your staff need training in customer security. Don't say the room number out loud, point to it written on the key card.
The room was looking worse for wear with scratches on walls and furniture and dark human hairs on the bathroom door.
I was located in the room right next to reception and the entrance which meant I couldn't have the window open due to noise and also a concern for safety. This resulted in a very hot and uncomfortable night with very little sleep.
The continental breakfast was poor and over priced.
On checking out there were no staff at the desk as they were all stood in the entrance cover smoking. This looked so unprofessional and meant I had to walk through their smoke to exit the building.
I paid £129 for 1 night which was an absolute rip off for the state of the room, the awful customer service and lack of customer safety provided.
This needs addressing immediately.
We arrived to the hotel and the cigarette extinguisher/bin was overflowing. Considering one of the front of house spent a lot of time loitering there vaping you would have thought he would have done something about it. Clearly not as it was still overflowing when we checked out two days later.
We booked a room with air con, to find out there is no air con. 32degrees the windows only open a few cm and the console clearly states heats only. That meant very little sleep for us more boil in the bag than relaxing evenings sleep.
The lower part of the room was clean but there was a number of thick cobwebs around the top edges. The wardrobe unit has a broken piece of mdf sticking out on the lower edge.
The bathroom was dated and battered. The toilet seat was broken and rocked thanks to there being a couple of the rests underneath completely missing. And the shower more water pissed out of the back of the shower head where the hose attached rather than out the shower head itself.
Only one set of towels was left in the room despite being booked for two. So had to go to reception for more towels on day one.
There were pastries such as croissants and pan au chocolate in a basket in reception. Although it was a nice idea. Any food left out should be covered. They were out a long time without being covered.
The vending machine was pretty empty throughout the duration-if you’re not filling it don’t have one. Overall the location, free parking and the pub next door were the highlights.
Stayed at a few premier inns and this one is dated. We stayed in a heatwave and with no aircon in hotel made the nights sleep terrible. The room was at 27 degrees on arrival and remained at that temp all night. The fan supplied spun, but put out no air
