Room 125 is noisy.
Pros:

Everything was good apart from the noise coming from the kitchen's extractor fan. It was difficult to sleep in room 125 because of the rumbling sound directed at the window. The noise was went on late and started early.

Trip to York Julz & Noz
Pros:

Was looking forward to this brake as we hadn’t been away for a while,we checked in got our room then took the cases up as soon as we opened the door all you could do was smell garlic it was disgusting so we had to leave the window open which made the room freezing cold but never mind we thought we would go down and have our meal as we had got a meal deal with the booking so we decided to get fish and chips we went in the restaurant just after 6 o’clock and didn’t get served till 7.30 then we were told there was no fish or chicken wings well there was nothing else on the menu that I liked so I asked could I just have a ham sandwich to be told they had no ham so I ended up just having a pudding and the same thing happened the next night so it ment I paid over £50 for 2 puddings and had to wait nearly 2hr for that utterly disgusting don’t think we would use it again so if anyone is thinking about going to this hotel I personally wouldn’t get the meal deal the room was disappointing but you could put up with that for a couple of nights but if anyone is going to use it definitely eat out somewhere else

Could do better
Pros:

Basing this review on food alone, absolutely terrible. Food had been under a heat lamp for so long it was literally inedible. Couldn’t eat it. Premises clean and inviting. Understaffed behind the bar so ages ordering drinks. Basically not a great experience…sorry, hoping for better.

Noise issues
Pros:

This was our first visit to this inn, On first review it looked clean and tidy as usual, on further looking the tray that holds tea/coffee etc had dried milk stains that had not been cleaned, The part of our stay we weren't happy with was the lack of sleep due to constant traffic noise also the door to the adjoining room had a large gap so we heard rather alot when the couple returned 🤫. I think that in such a busy street sound proofing would be beneficial. We certainly wont be staying there again as I like my sleep.

Disappointed
Pros:

Visited with family. Good location with some good pubs nearby. Friendly staff. Good size rooms but floor dirty and not hoovered. Bathroom was good and had a nice shower.
Breakfast was very poor. Kept running out of food. Long queues (10+ mins) of unhappy people waiting for food.
No vouchers for parking available, which meant parking charges were higher than the website said, so be prepared to pay full NCP prices.
We have stayed at much better Premier Inn hotels. Overall, we were disappointed and will not be coming back to this one.

Hotel O.K restarant poor
Pros:

We have stayed here a few times and the hotel is looking run down. It does need a refurb. Marks in the room, the carpet in the lobby looks run down.
The breakfast in the restaurant was good, but for dinner the restaurant was appaling. The restaurant was not busy, and we waited nearly 2 hours for our meal. There was 7 of us 4 with lactose intolerance. Drinks took a while to come when we first ordered, when asked about our meal, first time we got told one chef, O.K but restaurant was not busy, there were only 2 other groups in there. Second time of asking they blamed the allergies, which was totally unacceptable. When we did get our meals, it was really late. Will not be going there for an evening meal again

Disappointing Stay with Multiple Service Failures.
Pros:

I booked this Premier Inn expecting the usual reliable standard, but unfortunately this stay fell well below what I had experienced previously. From the moment we arrived, it was clear things were not as advertised. The hotel entrance shown on the booking confirmation and website images no longer exists, and we had to navigate through what appeared to be a goods or service yard to locate reception. This was not a welcoming start and created immediate confusion.

Our room also did not match the description or photographs used at the point of booking. There was a clear gap where a sofa bed or seating area should have been, giving the impression we had been allocated a room that was missing promised amenities. In addition, one of the USB charging ports next to the bed was damaged beyond use, and the port on the other side was also loose and deteriorating. The shower was weak with poor pressure, and the curtains were so poorly fitted that light streamed in throughout the night, making it difficult to sleep.

The biggest disappointment was the complete lack of housekeeping. We left the room on Saturday morning expecting it to be serviced during the day – as would be standard for any two-night hotel stay. When we returned in the early evening, nothing had been done: no clean towels, no fresh cups, no replenished tea or coffee, and no tidying. I went to reception at 4pm to query this and was informed, for the first time, that rooms were only cleaned on request. This had not been communicated at booking, check-in, or in the room.

I made a request there and then for the room to be serviced. I was told that if we were leaving again that evening, housekeeping would attend to it while we were out. We confirmed that we would be going out again at 6pm. When we left, we informed reception a second time, but the staff member on duty seemed unaware of the earlier conversation and simply noted it again. When we returned later that night, once again, nothing at all had been done. Two requests were made, and both were ignored.

Overall, this stay was far below Premier Inn’s usually dependable standard. The misleading entrance, the room not being as advertised, the poor facilities and the complete failure of housekeeping – even after multiple requests – made this a deeply disappointing experience. I left feeling that the basic principles of guest care and value for money had been entirely overlooked. I would urge Premier Inn to review standards at this location as what is currently being delivered does not reflect the brand’s reputation.

Trip to Blossom Street south Hotel for 2 nights
Pros:

Stayed in Blossom Street south Hotel for 2 nights when we got there was no staff at the check in, finally after a couple minutes after check in time a staff member shows up and tell us our room wasn't ready even after being floor 1 and it being 20 minutes past check in time. When we finally go to our room it was so dirty even after being checked over and over. In the evening when we go to go for dinner no one shows up for 10 minutes to take us to a seat. This happened even the next day for breakfast and dinner. Overall I do not recommend this hotel next time trying the travelodge down the road

It's a roof over your head, and not much else
Pros:

There are not many positives I can note for this hotel, however I will say that the staff are brilliant. All but one person I encountered on my 3 week stay were lovely, kind, and did their best to be helpful.

That is where the positives end. First of all, the car park is not owned by Premier Inn, so if you are travelling for business be mindful that parking generally won't be included. The parking charges are £15 per night - but rather than run from when you arrive until when you leave, this is from 12noon to 12 noon - so arrival in the car park at 11:45am on a Monday and leaving at 10am on a Tuesday (less than 24 hours) will incur a 2-day charge (at £30).

The hotel restaurant is actually shocking. While the food is edible, you couldn't go much further than that. It's basically ready meals and microwaved options - you'd probably eat better at Wetherspoons. There's limited to no provision for allergies, and I'm yet to visit the restaurant and it take less than 90 minutes even when eating alone. On average, time from arrival to order being taken is 25 minutes, and time from arrival to delivery of a main or starter is around 60 minutes.

The wifi and phone signal in the hotel is shocking. The wifi is so slow it took 17 minutes to load the speed test website which shoed less than 1mbps download speed. The phone signal seems to be a 'dead zone' and download speeds on 5G were around 20-40mbps - though none of the 3 different rooms I stayed in actually had any sufficient mobile data signal at all - I spent a lot of time sat in corridors downloading what I needed to. There is also no phone signal in the restaurant and the wifi isn't any faster there.

The restaurant is held in the Blossom Street south building where they have ultimate wifi, which I'm assured is faster. However despite on two occasions being promised access to this network while in the restaurant, it never materialised because Blossom Street North does not use it.

The cleanliness of the rooms varies. The first two rooms I stayed in were fairly pleasant - standard Premier Inn fare, though there were bits of rubbish stuffed down the back of the headboard in one room. The final room I stayed in was awful. The pain was chipping off all the skirting boards, the toilet took 3 flushes to actually flush, mould on all the times, dust and dirt all over the walls, the lights were practically falling off the wall. To be honest I'd encountered so many issues across my 3 weeks generally that I just accepted this and made do because I couldn't handle the hassle of yet another thing not having a resolution.

As I've already said though, the staff have been wonderful and made every effort where they can to adapt and improve things. I would personally never consider ever returning here, and if you do have to stay here, I would avoid the restaurant.

Pleasant stay
Pros:

We've stayed here a few times over the years due to its good location. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. It was good to have a walk in shower with a glass screen which is a vast improvement on the old over the bath showers with a shower curtain. Hand soap and shower gel were provided. Rooms are only cleaned on request now which suited us as we prefer to come and go as we please rather than having to navigate around cleaning times. You can help yourself to top up beverages and milk at reception and request clean towels when required. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly. Our only gripe during our stay was when using the bar on the ground floor. After a long day walking around York, we decided to end the day with a glass of wine. The large bar area was virtually empty with maybe two other tables occupied. My husband went to the bar to order and was told they only had ONE wine glass.... in a bar...... seriously? Not the end of the world but bizarre.

Basic lack of cleanliness
Pros:

Me and my husband visit York every October for our anniversary and have stayed in a number of hotels. We were happy to be able to book a hotel that was close to the station but within reasonable walking distance of the centre. Upon arrival at the North Blossom street premier inn (giving there are absolutely no indications of where the south hotel is), we were checked in fairly quickly and made our way to our room. Because we were only staying for 2 days, we didn't want to mess around so we dropped our bags off and left. Upon returning, I noticed just how much of a state the room was in. I will note here that I have a cleaning business so I notice a lot about a hotel room. Firstly, the smell of drainage in the bathroom. I checked the plug holes and they seemed fine but the smell was really pungent. There was also what looked like either toothpaste of shampoo dripped all the way down the bottom of the bathroom door. Furthermore, in the room itself, the lamp, headboard, picture rail, pictures and light fittings all had a layer of dust across them. I get that housekeepers have a real job on their hands with this place, but why is there no housekeeping supervisor to check over their work? Dusting is a straight forward job in any hotel room and it was obvious that no one had dusted in there for at least 5 days - a week. The worst thing we found was the ventilation above the door, it was absolutely caked in dust and it was evident it had not been touched for weeks if not months. A simple hoover of this would have worked wonders.

Another issue we had was the incessant wurring noise of the fans outside our window, my husband likes the window open at night for fresh air but the noise coming from these fans was ridiculous.

We can't comment on the food as we ate out both nights.

Considering we paid £331 for this room, We expected a better standard of cleanliness. The housekeeping team should be made aware that they are lacking significantly in doing the most basic of tasks.

Would we return? Unlikely. The location is fine but the housekeeping have really let themselves down,

Premier rip off
Pros:

Premier Inn by name and by cost. Basic Inn by actual service. Bear in mind that we paid £303 for a weekend in York. First off the entance to our accommodation building was filthy, with dirt, leaves etc all over the floor. Our room had a musty odour to it, the carpet was worn and dirty. Bedside lamp switch on one side was covered in rust or dirt, the light on the other side constantly flickered. There was a bulb out in the bathroom. The skirting and bath trim in bathroom looked as though it was either suffering from wet rot or was just filthy.
We had breakfast on the first morning @ £10.99 per head, which was an even worse experience. There were very few staff on, and we waited 10 minutes to be seated. The table was filthy, we cleaned it ourselves with anti bac wipes. There were no bacon, eggs, tomatoes available on the buffet, or even bread for toast. We waited an eternity for someone to appear to help. We then had to wait a further 20 minutes for the food to be replenished. The food when it eventually arrived was decent. None of the other tables were cleared whilst we were dining. Shambles. Considering the cost you would think the wi-fi in the room would at least be usable, but oh no. So I purchased their "ultimate" wi-fi at an extra £5 per day which in all honesty wasn't an improvement on the free wi-fi!! All in all a miserable experience in a hotel we used several years ago and was great back then. Would Lenny Henry stay here - not a chance

Comic and awful at the same time
Pros:

If you want to experience real life fawlty towers- this is it! But instead of manuel, they have Matt from York! Whilst the rooms are what you expect from a Premier Inn and the beds are comfy, everything else is nuts- esp the breakfast, checking and the restaurant/bar. Please note they only have 1 wine glass in the bar/restaurant ! Oh and the food is bad and SO expensive

Disappointed with a dirty hotel
Pros:

Great location but just a dirty hotel. Filthy bathroom and mould all over, sticky floor in the bar and restaurant area. Just tired and unloved. No one there seems to care. The staff were mixed. Not very friendly on reception. One lovely person serving breakfast all on her own and no one was keeping up with the demand. Really disappointing.

A good stay but, boy, that breakfast experience needs to improve!
Pros:

A good 3 nights stay in comfortable twin bedded room. The staff were welcoming, room clean with good facilities. BUT, like Telford Central earlier this year, a lack of staff at breakfast meant many used and uncleared tables resulting in difficulties finding somewhere clean to sit to eat. Would definitely use Premier again but would hope for a better breakfast experience!

Common areas (lift, reception, corridors) pretty filthy. Staff clueless or non existent - waited 10 minutes for someone to appear in the bar/restaurant). No sign of any management - receptionist couldn't even name the manager, let alone provide contact details. Chaotic.

Pros:

The location is good and the hotel perfectly adequate. The staff could have been friendlier. Be very careful with parking charges. Charges run from midday to midday. If you checkout at 12:00 there's no allowance time to get to the car park and pay before they charge you for another day for nothing. The reception just tell you parking is £15/day and neglect to tell you charges start at midday.....thanks for the gotcha!!
