NCP on Great Eastern Road (EC2A 3ER) - 15 minute walk from hotel. Cost: 18.10 GBP for 24 hours.
Leave 'Old Street' Tube Station (Northern Line) by Subway 1 (City Road North). As you exit take the steps to your left walk straight ahead along the footpath (City Road) with the row of shops and cafes on your right hand side. You will pass two small roads on your right. Continue until you reach the second corner, where the 'Three Crowns' Public House is located. Walk past this pub and cross the pedestrian crossing on your right (Silicon Way), where the hotel entrance is situated.
I gave one star for the room due to the extremely poor first impression. We stayed in the Premier rooms on the higher floors, which are significantly more expensive, yet the condition was completely unacceptable.
As soon as we stepped out of the elevator, the corridor was visibly filthy. The carpets looked as though they hadn’t been vacuumed or deep-cleaned for months, with stains and dirt throughout. Unfortunately, the same was true inside our room: the carpet was dirty, and the wall was chipped.
The worst part was the bathroom. There was a clump of old hair in the sink drain, the shower tray did not drain properly ( I didn’t dare to look what was blocking it!), the shower head had visible mould, and there was also black mould around the shower screen frame. This level of hygiene is simply unacceptable.
Being a three star hotel does not excuse a lack of cleanliness. I fully understand that furnishings don’t need to be brand new, but I do expect a spotless, hygienic room regardless of star rating.
At least the reception was friendly, but that’s all.
Great location and reasonably cheap . However - the premier inn plus room had a lot of wear and tear. The self check in didn’t work for us on two machines, which meant we had to queue (we were told this was because there was only one set of towels, which seemed slightly odd). We were not provided with complimentary chocolates or water on either night of our stay. We asked at reception and were told someone would bring them to us, but they did not. That might sound trivial, but they advertised as one of the perks of the room. Also - the shower was too cold despite being set to the maximum temperature. Overall - disappointing and not up to the standard of many other premier inns we’ve stayed in.
Great Premier Inn & Staff
I travel quite a bit from work and stop in various chains IHG, Marriot, Hilton and Premier Inn. As with all chains some can be hit and miss especially in recent times with Premier Inn (maybe because Lenny Henry left 😂). Anyway with a trip to London for and exhibition and function location was key.
After busy day I checked in the Premier Plus room which was clean, spacious and as expected. Too tired to venture out in the cold for food I opted to eat in which I rarely do. Prior to eating I had some calls to make which the staff left me to make in a very quiet corner of the restaurant that was probably closed but it was appreciated with a nice pint.
I ordered steak with the trimmings with onion rings and I’ll be honest not expecting too much. The service and food was excellent and better than some restaurants charging double.
Breakfasts have been equally good with the buffet fresh and nit stood and dried out as you sometimes find. Thanks to all the team including Naim, Ellen & Brenda
Another great stay at a Premier inn.
A good clean and comfortable room. Nothing fancy or chintzy. A good functional room and bathroom.
I slept really well so the bed must have been comfortable.
We had to move bedroom as there was black mold on the ceiling of the bedroom near the window - this may be because the extractor fan in the en-suite wasn’t working. The hotel should have not given us this room.
Good breakfast but no gluten free bread (one of us has an intolerance)
Ordered poached eggs but they took “ages” to arrive. The breakfast service is extremely under staffed when the hotel is busy eg on a weekend
One lift wasn’t working and the other didn’t stop on our floor for some reason (on occasion), all a bit random
Pillows are extremely hard
However, the hotel is well located and other aspects of the breakfast are ok eg lots of fruit, pastries etc.
The Premier inn (Old street) is a fantastic location to stay if you are looking for quick and easy access to see the sites of London. The hotel has fantastic food, drinks and really friendly staff. I have been staying in the Premier Inn for over a year now and have been really pleased with my experience. All the staff have been really helpful. Especially the manager Daria, who has been very accommodating during my stay.
Great hôtel, fantastic views from the plus rooms on the 12th floor.
Food was consistent very good. Hakar was friendly and recommended dishes from the menu. Gordona worked efforlessly keeping the restaurant clean. Will stay again.
Super friendly staff- Daria was very helpful and welcoming. As a solo female traveler it’s good to know that you have a welcoming place to stay.
Centrally located and super accessible- clean and tidy
It was a great experience, staff anee helpful and sensitive to guests' welfare. Will surely return.. it was a wonderful experience. Kudos !
Great hotel with great staff. We stayed with our young family for my partners birthday. It's a perfect base for going out site seeing the delights of our capital city, Very close to the Old street underground Northern line
I had an exceptional experience. The team at Old Street are “second to none”. Daria and Naim are amazing always looking out for us. Will definitely return :)
Fantastic staff, delicious breakfast! Dinner menu is nice. Rooms are clean, super comfortable and we had a great night sleep!
None
Came home covered in insect bites. Complained to Head Office and Environmental Health. No tea and coffee in the rooms. Food was mostly overcooked and cold. Just a horrible stay.
Perfect location and in a well serves area of London but not very clean rooms and... please give us the opportunity to open the windowas and get some fresh air from time to time. The air in the room was thick and humid!
Location was the only good thing about this hotel.
Cleanliness of room is in need of major improvement. Each day the room was supposedly “cleaned’’ we came back to a filthy bathroom which had visibly not been attended to. The only thing the cleaner did was change the towels.
There was remnants of toothpaste/hairs/dust etc covering the white good surfaces.
Dirty mugs were left and not replaced meaning we had to request clean ones from the bar.
Infact, one of the nights my partner had an accident on the bed (she was menstruating at the time) and it was visibly soiled on the outer surface of duvet cover - this should have prompted the cleaner to change the duvet even without request however instead it was left like this for the duration of the stay.
Due to the above, we did not feel that we were in a clean and comfortable environment and this affected our ability to get a good nights rest.
In addition, reception and restaurant/bar needed to be staffed better - there was only one person manning both reception and bar with extreme long periods of wait times to be served each day/night - customers were all disgruntled by this.
Located just right for us (near the family members we were visiting), decently priced for London, and reasonably quiet and comfortable. Despite the QR code reader failing to read my printed QR code, check-in was pretty good. We will certainly stay here again for future family visits.
The staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was very busy but the staff always ensured the service was to a good standard and that there were no food shortages.
The rooms were very dated compared to other premier inns I have stayed in which made it feel worse value for money.
