Follow A91 towards St Andrews. In St Andrews, follow signs for Kircaldy (A915) - this will take you right at a roundabout. Continue straight over 2 more roundabouts which will lead to Largo road. The hotel is located on the right opposite the VW car showroom.
The staff were extremely kind and went the extra mile when we needed help - thank you. Comfortable bed, powerful shower and delicous porrige and fresh fruit salad for breakfast.
We have stayed at Premier Inns all over the UK. This was the first time that we were kept awake during the night by excessive noise. It was impossible to tell whether the crowd of voices and drum&bass music was coming from outside or inside the hotel but it was still going strong after 3am.
Hotel very clean, staff helpful at check-in.
This was definitely the worst Premier Inn I’ve ever stayed in. The whole hotel had a smell about it and when I opened my room door the room smelt really bad, like a wet, dirty smell.
The toilet came away from the floor and the seal was broken and you could see it all soaking wet and mouldy looking.
The windows were soaking wet too so there must be a ventilation problem. This is possibly a known complaint as fans were left in the rooms?
The room had very obviously not been cleaned before arrival as there were faeces on the toilet bowl and marks up the wall, along where the toilet roll is.
When I turned on the bath tap lots of black stuff came out into the bath and some kept hanging out of the tap.
The room had lots of clumps of dust, especially along the top of the bed where my child was to sleep.
The chair was filthy and covered in stains and even the towels hung in the bathroom were stained. Quite a stained carpet too.
From reading other reviews I then realised that many other people had a similar experience.
We had booked 2 rooms and the other smelled so strongly of a deep heat type smell. It also had a lot of dust clumps but it was in better condition than the first room.
Also none of the children’s tv channels seemed to work.
I took photos of most things but unfortunately I didn’t find out until leaving that the pillows in the original room had blood stains on them, or I would have taken photos of that.
My stepson slept there and only discovered it before checking out, my little boy would have been sleeping there if we hadn’t swapped rooms.
Also the girl who checked us in wasn’t very friendly at all, which isn’t great for a first impression.
I stay in Premier Inns a lot and I was really shocked at how bad this one was, especially with it being in St Andrews, I thought it might have had a high standard. Very disappointing sadly :(
I don’t really ever write reviews but I had to for this stay as it was very poor :(
Stayed for Halloween weekend after being at Thorpe park for fright night.
Lovely stay easy to get to and lovely staff.
My daughter left her teddy bear and after speaking to Gina one of the staff members she helped return the bear.
My daughter was very happy as Gina sent pictures of the bear eating breakfast and sitting at the reception which my daughter loved.
Gina is a very kind compassionate member of staff and went above and beyond for us.
Another good stay at Premier Inn. The quality across the Premier Inn Estate is consistent. The St Andrews Hotel was just as I had expected.
An “Okay” place to stay but recommend much better locations nearer to town. No luggage trolly. Very limited restaurant and bar (not really a formal bar) hours. No fridge in room. Difficult calling a taxi. And staff is not particularly helpful. Plus, they only clean the room upon request. If you need to stay here, it will be passable though.
Location is good , room very dated , no atmosphere in restaurants for breakfast or dinner and food is very plane not worth the money. The rooms arnt sound proof you can hear conversations from the rooms next door and foot prints from the floor above also its very annoy when someone’s phone alarm is going off on the floor above and it’s vibrating and wakens you at 6am !! Also WiFi and signal from the hotel isn’t great can’t even load a Facebook video and thier “ultimate WiFi” costs a 5er best booking a different hotel for a few extra pounds .
Clean and comfortable Premier Plus room in this city centre hotel. Our room was at the back of the hotel so it was extremely quiet and we had a really good sleep. Great location with car park very close. There’s no restaurant there at the moment but that’s not really a problem as there are many many places to eat in St Albans. Value for money and very comfortable.
We booked this premiere inn hotel as a convenient 1 night stay for a family party in St Albans. When we arrived the restaurant, bar and toilets were closed for refurbishment, of which we were not informed, to add to this major disappointment, there is a night club next door which our room was next too, very noisy, with people outside smoking and shouting, therefore no sleep until after 3.00 am. Will definitely not be staying there again.
Booked this hotel as the endpoint of a 70 mile ultramarathon, arroving on foot knowing I'd have a decent sized cooked breakfast the morning after, to recover.
The website said breakfast was available.
The "reminder" emails in the run-up to our stay suggested we book breakfast.
Got downstairs in the morning, ravenous.
To be told - no breakfast due to refurbishment. And we should have had an email - we definitely didn't (and neither had other guests). Just a few pastries in the corner of reception. Gutted is an understatement.
The desk had been removed from the room, so nowhere to put stuff other than a small coffee table, and the floor.
Room overlooked a nightclub and we could hear the thumping bass at night.
Staff never responded to the two emails I sent in the runup to our stay.
All in all, poor, way below expectations for a Premier Inn.
The ground floor was closed so no breakfast or meals available (no notice given on booking)
There was one set of towels in the room despite being booked for 2 - no phone so had to go to reception to ask for towels in person.
Room seems to have been refurbished, but has no safe and desk has been removed leaving power sockets in the air, with no place for devices to be stored or placed for charging except on bedside tables. Clean room and bathroom with extra bed so good value overall
Very good option for a one night stay. A bit out of town and requires a walk to center.
Great location. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff is amazing and helpful.
Booked a premier room but unfortunately the fridge not working, the duvet cover had black stains, a hand towel and bath towel only for two people, stained carpet and chipped furniture, smelly damp and stuffy room (windows don’t open). Complained to reception and given another room and ok fridge worked and bedding was clean but all else was same as first room unfortunately
The online check-in process at this Premier Inn is, quite frankly, a waste of time. You’re encouraged to check in ahead of your stay, but upon arrival, you still need to rely on the physical machines in reception to issue your key card. The problem is, like most Premier Inns I’ve stayed in recently, these machines rarely work. You end up having to ring for assistance, wait for a staff member to appear, and have them manually produce a key card for you. The whole “online check-in” becomes completely pointless.
After wasting around 20 minutes just to get into my room, I decided to head down for a drink at about 5pm. There was no one at all in the bar or restaurant area, and no staff in reception either. In the end, another guest pressed the buzzer for help. When someone eventually appeared, I asked if anyone could serve at the bar, and was told the staff member was “on the phone in the office.” I waited another 10 minutes, went back to the same person, and miraculously, as soon as he knocked on the office door, the call had apparently just finished. I was finally served, but the experience was slow and unwelcoming.
The drink options were limited, overpriced, and the bar itself had zero atmosphere. The restaurant looked equally uninspiring, with expensive food that takes too long to arrive.
Then there’s the Wi-Fi. The free version is useless and rarely connects. The paid “premium” Wi-Fi is slightly better but appears to be routed through Singapore. This means that streaming services such as BBC iPlayer, Now TV, and Channel 4 think you’re outside the UK and block access.
By this point, I didn’t even bother trying to get help from the staff, as they were either nowhere to be found or “in the office.”
In short, this Premier Inn sums up everything that’s gone wrong with the chain recently: under-staffed, poorly maintained, and lacking in any genuine hospitality. Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.
Nahal and Aman at the St Albans city hotel were absolutely exceptional with us during our stay. Nahal overheard that it was my daughter’s 13th birthday and arranged brought a chocolate brownie and a birthday badge to our table and presented it. They were both brilliant and I hope they can be recognised for there amazing service they made the whole family’s day.
This hotel is based 5 yards away from the Veeda night club which operates Friday and Saturday's from 11 p.m antil 4 a.m. On the Friday night we were wakened at 11.30 p.m with people standing outside with their drinks shouting , then the beat of the music continued until 4 a.m. Needless to say we had no sleep .This may not be a problem for some, but it was for us. We asked to be moved for the Saturday night which was no problem. You can see how close the club is to the hotel when you book in. Everything else was fine for our stay.
A very clean ,quiet ,convenient premier inn ,breakfast was plentiful, hot and a reasonable price ,also had a takeaway pizza which again for the price was fine ,bit of a kerfuffle using the auto check inn as qr code wouldn’t work and staff weren’t about but all sorted in the end ,would return if in the area again
Stayed for my 2 daughters to go to Thorpe park for Halloween and took my mum to Hampton court palace
Brilliant location as train station 10 min walk all shops and eating places nearby
Excellent stay breakfast was good with plenty of choice
We had the £26.99 meal deal the steak and chips was very good and you can choose an alcoholic drink and starter or dessert and get free breakfast so definitely worth doing
Comfy bed very quiet in our room 335 no room problems at all
Staff need training on customer service and listening skills. Upon arrival at the entrance to the restaurant a member of staff shouted from behind the bar rather than him taking the time to walk over. He shouted ‘what do you want’ - the response was ‘food’!
Poor food and numerous complaints in the restaurant, including incorrect food being served even though the requirements were reiterated more than once.
If you have to stay here don’t bother with the restaurant.
