Professional property host/manager
Pretty good and probably a 4.5, lucky I booked early as the Price was a lot more the day before I stayed and that is without the Restaurant at the moment.
It is undergoing building work for the Bar / Restaurant at the moment.
Didn't think much of the 'Free Breakfast' to compensate. A Prepacked Croissant and an Apple / Coffee Machine. There are other retails units on site.
Nice place
Unbelievable, couldn't book online, phoned direct only to be politely told that bookings can only be accepted online. What is the world coming to?
As with money Premier Inn is this one did exactly what it said in the advertising. I was given a room on the fifth floor as a standard Premier Inn double. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, courteous staff and a good nights sleep. Breakfast and dinner were part of the meal deal, which was good value. Fish and chips was tasty and too much for me. Continental breakfast was perfect. No complaints whatsoever.
Never again!
Dirty dirty room, dubious stains and grubbiness.
Nobody available to check in. Had to wait ages. Nobody around at check out.
Really poor hotel. Won’t be back.
Check in desks out of order & no receptionist to be seen unless you ring a bell several times! Stair carpets were frayed & hanging loose in places. One of Our rooms including the bathroom quite obviously had been smoked in & stank of cigarette smoke! The bathroom extractor fans did not work in either of our two rooms. Lack of drinks available in the restaurant bar. Breakfast was awful! Extremely small amounts of food available, heat lamps not switched on so food was barely lukewarm warm & plates stone cold. Only One member of staff on duty who was on a FaceTime call with we assume a family member, had to be reminded by the paying guests when food & drink needed replenishing & tables clearing! All in all one of the worst Premier Inns we have stayed in!
Excellent staff, they were all very helpful in guiding an out of town guest to finding various activities and retailers.
The Hotel and Bed were very good. The room very clean as was the bathroom.
The thing that let them down is the breakfast!! I have always raved about Premier Inn breakfasts. at this venue the breakfast was bland, the food was bland. We went down at a quiet time yet there were no fried eggs, we had to wait. The same with the sausages. The food looked cheap and tasted that way. I can honestly say this was the worst breakfast I have had at a premier inn and why has the cost increased so much. It's really not worth it. At this venue there is a Mc Donald's across the car park. I will be going there next time.
PS
Wifi was useless.
The hotel is very easily reached by public transport from Reading Station. It is located near an Aldi, Burger King and Costa. There is parking on site. It I'd within walking distance of Costco and other amenities. Definitely worth staying here if you're travelling for work or just passing by. Clean rooms and good breakfast. Something about this particular Premier Inn that I don't know what it is but I've slept wonderfully.
The hotel itself is good, the staff are very polite, professional and friendly. In particular, Nenita has helped me very much. She's very friendly and happy to help. I've been here staying for a few days and already I'm impressed by her attention, dedication and helpfulness.
Great hotel and 10/10 would stay here again.
Thank you
The bed is comfortable and soft, bathroom is cleaned to a high standard. Towels available and clean. Food is excellent and to a good standard. Would stay again when working away from home.
I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Reading Gateway where there was no draught or bottled beer for 3 nights. I had to resort to the house red which tasted like watered down cranberry juice. The coffee machine broke on the second morning. There was a toxic atmosphere in the restaurant on the first night between the female staff where a junior member of staff undermined the manager/supervisor. I am not sure if it’s common practice, but my bin wasn’t emptied and the towels weren’t replaced during my 3 night stay. There was no ironing board in my room and only one coffee sachet. To top off what I thought was a very average experience, I discovered a used e cigarette under the bed which made me question the cleanliness of the room.
Room Overpriced,
No Window opening on a hot evening uncomfortable no fans available.
Hallway looks tatty wallpaper pealing
Beds are good as usual. Nice to have free parking. Forget about having breakfast. We were among a small number of guests for breakfast, but the hot food was sadly lacking. The "chef" kept replenishing things but not quickly enough and when he did, there were such a small amount of choices. I had to ask for the juices to be topped up and ask for yogurts as they were all missing. Heaven knows what happens when it is busy. This is a big hotel and should get its act together sooner rather than later.
Room was very clean and quiet — ideal for a decent night’s sleep. Air con was fine, not brilliant, but did the job.
The bar was clearly short-staffed. Sarah and Mia were literally running to keep up, but they were so nice and polite, even while flat out. We were lucky to order before more guests arrived, as it got busy quickly.
They definitely need more support in the evenings — either more staff or a manager on hand to help out.
Overall, a good stay, but the team on the ground deserve better backup.
Awful hotel, under staffed, no service at the restaurant no service at the bar. Reception unmanned. Waiting time for food is shocking. No tables available have to wait a hour to get a table even though multiple tables are free. Completely lacking staff. The receptionist checking people in is also serving the bar when they are free. Got sat at my table(eventually) and after 20 minutes I still hadn’t had my order taken another guy got sat behind me and the manager told the waitress to serve him first. He was served after been sat for 5 minutes took 30 minutes to take my order, absolute joke. Guy even said to me after I complained he didn’t know why they served him first. Food was poor after all that waiting. Next day I was over the road in Nando’s. Hotel ran out of draught beers. Only had bottles left which I was told also ran out eventually.
Stayed here for 4 days room was never cleaned for my full stay. No towels were changed. Bed was made by me, bin was emptied by me. Asked for toilet roll and a fresh towel at reception.
Someone on my floor took food to there room (Nando’s) and rubbish was left outside there door for two days. Can only assume the guest binned it themselves eventually.
Hotel was dressed up with gay flags on reception and bar. Is this a gay hotel? Why is there a need to have gay flags at a hotel?
Will never return. Also my 200 staff which I was going to put up in this hotel over the next couple of years will not be staying here. This cannot be a premier inn. I refuse to believe it.
Thank you to Dagma (I hope that’s right!), you were so quick to sort out our room when there was a problem. It meant that our two small ones were as quick to sleep as possible after a longer than expected journey. You were so fast making up beds, getting all the bedding and towels! Thank you!
Another really sub-standard experience at Premier Inn. Sadly my 3rd stay this year that showed this brand as being really tired.
This time, from a really shoddy check-in, to a poor breakfast, culminating in a bar experience that was so unbelievably poo, I can now see why the Whitbread share price is so low. Dominic Paul, what are you doing with this business?.
Really enjoyed our stay here rooms where comfortable and affordable as usual.
What we found outstanding was the restaurant with one member of staff in particular. MIA was professional, knowledgeable, courteous and very friendly. We found her an absolute pleasure to be served by. We have 4 children with additional needs and she was very patient and kind with them. Mia made our stay here exceptional and we will absolutely return if ever in the area again.
Mia, thank you very much for making our stay so nice
Bed, duvet and pillows are super soft and comfortable
Give the breakfast a miss. Lots of items were unavailable or sold out. Chef was unwilling to cook mushrooms even though they were prepared ready to cook, all our requests for food items also seemed to much trouble for her to prepare.
Easy and professional. Clean room and comfortable. The beds are lovely as advertised. Lots of caring and friendly staff at reception.
I have a meal at the attached Resturant. Food was ok but I was served by a very friendly waitress ‘Dag’. Thank you
