I have just spent two nights at the Premier Inn Oban. The accomodation was great -- rooms were very clean throughout, the bedroom warm and cosy and the bed was extremely comfortable. Staff were wonderful, so kind and helpful and even helped me to find a taxi one morning when all taxis seemed extra busy.
Food in the restaurant was fantastic ----- very well cooked and well presented. I enjoyed all the meals, particularly breakfast which was a buffet with such a wide variety of items. Thank you to all Staff.
Had a great 6 nights. Room very clean and everywhere gave the impression that staff take a pride in their work. It was one of the best Premier Inns we have stayed. It was very cold weather, but there was no skimping on heating, it was very efficient! Staff very helpful. We didn’t eat there so can’t comment. Great location.
Work booked me in here nothing special in truth. It's a bland corporate brand, nothing to either co.plain or get excited about. Plenty of fantastic, independent hotels and BandBs in Oban, consider them before contributing to a corporations profits.
We have stayed every year since the hotel opened. Firstly, parking has changed and is now chargeable. Beyond disgusted with reception. Arrived at 2.40. waited ten minutes til someone came out of the office. We said we were there for check-in, she said it wasnt open until 3pm. turned around and went back to the office. No restaurant/bar open so stood until the machine check-in opened. A guy came out as the one working machine malfunctioned and instead of helping us, checked in a family that had just arrived. Not a word was said until we were forced to wait for another family to check in, in order to find out how to pay parking. The room was ok for PI but one night for £149 with this experience was shocking. Think twice!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Clean rooms, helpful staff, good dinner and breakfast. Reasonable car park fee £5 per 24hrs.
Great location, safe and clean. Walked everywhere.
Parking was located directly behind the Hotel and very affordable. You can walk to numerous restaurants and bars with beautiful sites everywhere.
The property was clean and close to a very good restaurant called the Waterfront Fishouse. My only complaint is that there are no water fountains to refill bottles and no access to ice
Our stay was good. Breakfast was so good, with a huge selection of foods. Definitely recommend. Friendly staff.
However, I thought I lost my ID at the hotel and it was very difficult to get in touch once I'd left. I tried to call but the phone rang and rang and no one answered on numerous tries.
I called corporate and they told me to "send my friend in Oban to ask if it was there." I asked for corporate to give me the email of the location (not on the website) or or provide alternate phone number and they ignored my email. After another attempt they refused to help again. I never got in touch with the hotel.
Perfect location in Oban. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, the distillery and McCaig's Tower. Quiet and convenient with parking on-site and a nice hot breakfast to start the day
A true budget friendly hotel. I can’t say there was anything terrible. The rooms were a good size, the staff were helpful. They do have a machine so you can check yourself in, though I had trouble as it didn’t want to take my postal code and told me it was invalid. I would advise against adding the breakfast, there were plenty of other options including wetherspoons which is a chain restaurant that offer a Scottish breakfast for about £7.
Stayed four nights in this centrally located Premier Inn. The rooms are basic and clean - windows do not open which I prefer. As the norm with PI, the staff multi tasks so you need to search them out. Plenty to do and see in Oban and this hotel makes all journeys easy. Pay for parking! Breakfast is the usual so venture out to the ferry area for Wetherspoon large restaurant. Plenty of places for dinner. This is a good hotel for sleeping and showering. Good value.
We were talked in to upgrading to a premier room with a view. As soon as we walked into the room we knew it was not clean. I spoke to the manager who insisted it was clean. She would not look at it and would not change it. Said there was nothing she could do—told me to contact customer relations. All of the customer relations addresses bounced back as invalid. I will NEVER STAY AT PREMIER INN again! Sleeping on the floor of the train station would be cleaner.
The manager upsold a premium room with a view. When we entered the room, it was obvious it hadn’t been cleaned (droplets and hair on the toilet seat), toothpaste blobs on the wall, bleach stains on the carpet. The view consisted of train tracks and a barbed wire-enclosed lot. I went to the manager, who said the room was clean (but wouldn’t go look). She was unapologetic, saying there was nothing she could do and giving me a card with customer service contact info. The contact info on the card and on the Premier Inn website was invalid. I had to clean using the sanitizing wipes I had. I have stayed with Premier Inn several times in the past, but this will definitely be the last.
Great place to stay for the local vibe. The rooms were clean and spacious.
What started off as a nightmare experience was saved by staff when we were allocated the wrong room. I am disabled and requested an accessible room with a walk-in shower. On arrival we were given a standard room with a shower over a bath. We needed a twin with a double bed and a pull out bed, but there were none available so they couldn't swap us over. However the young man at reception, Lukas, worked hard to solve our issue and sourced a foldaway bed which he had placed into an adapted room and the situation was resolved, thanks to his dedication and quick thinking.
The hotel itself is fairly new so still in pristine condition, spotlessly clean throughout and with very comfortable seats and beds. We didn't use the restaurant but it was always quite busy so seemed to be popular, and the food prices were very competitive for the area. Oban is an expensive town and this is reflected in the cost of everything, including the rate we paid for our stay at this hotel. We liked the hotel very much, and staff were all very friendly and helpful, but the total we paid for 5 nights was higher than anywhere else we travelled to during our break.
The location of the hotel is good; just behind the train station, bus station and ferry port, with a step free route to get there (ideal for me in my wheelchair and using a mobility scooter). They have plenty of parking but we didn't use it so not sure if it is chargeable. I would definitely stay there again but maybe during off peak season where the rates are slightly more reasonable.
Everything thing was great.
Comfortable mattress, great location, and good price. We had a great time.We will definitely come back!See you soon🤗
The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The rooms are quiet and spacious and are well set out, with plenty amenities.
There was, however, quite an unpleasant odour from the bathroom - probably drains.
It would have been an excellent stay, had it not been for dining experience in the evening. Breakfast was great - but - the dinner - not so. Far from it.
We both had chicken curry and rice and it seemed to be of a very 'boil in the bag' style - it was like a mass-produced heat-up microwave job - with about 4 small cubes of chicken. Sooo not good!!
The signage for the Kids Eat Free All Day is a complete scam - they have free breakfast - which is fantastic - but dinner is a totally different story and I felt we were really conned. Information about 'extras' is in tiny print - which I could only have read with the strongest of microscopes - and you find that very little about the children's dinner IS actually free - not even a drink is free!!
Though I can't fault the breakfast at all, I wouldn't take that inclusive 'deal' (breakfast & dinner) again. It is NOT a deal - and nor is the dinner of good - or even reasonable - quality. Disappointing!!
Had booked early check in but was told we hadn't booked it so had to produced confirmation email. Our room had a door joining the room nextdoor which made for noise from the room nextdoor. Food was ok but found that booking the meal deal meant extra charges for meals like mixed starter that actually because there was hardly anything there was totally overpriced. If booking Oban again I'd eat at Wetherpoons just around the corner.
