Seven of us stayed for one night prior to a family wedding. The rooms had just been beautifully refurbished. The bed was very comfortable with good quality linen. The bathroom was small but everything was new and quality towels. We ate in the restaurant and had a very good meal. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were all happy, friendly and helpful.
Regular visitor to this particular premier inn. Really impressed with the new restaurant, a vast improvement on the old beefeater. The staff are lovely as always, the girl on reception who checked me in was very friendly and informative. She directed me to the new restaurant and explained they are due a refurb in their rooms soon. Excited to stay in these new rooms next time I stay. The tall man on breakfast was also very helpful and pleasant. The only downside to this stay was the lack of prawns!
Right next door to Newton Abbot racecourse. Tesco superstore & Costa opposite and Starbucks with in five minute walk. Premier Inn was clean and tidy. Warm welcome and helpful staff. Would stay again.
kept getting e mails saying book your emails along side emails saying refunds been paid as restaurant closed need to get act together still waiting for refund but room good and bed comfy
Quite good, from and bed fine, though we had to book an accessible room when we didn't want one and wanted a premier room. Really need more than one chef at breakfast, whenever we checked the cooked breakfast, there was one or several items missing
General state of repair and cleanliness was very poor. Shower head leaked, hairdryer didn’t work, room was cold and heating didn’t get hot.
Great central location, rooms fine if a little in need of updating, have to ask for bed changes toilet roll etc be specific not all done together, breakfast super could not fault it and the two Joshes on a morning were great, in fact all of the staff were super worked hard under trying circumstances, the pub/meal a joke always shut does not open in the day and rarely on an evening, it’s a limited menu limited further by no stock, staff worked hard under very trying circumstances, building work and shortages of staff and supplies made their job very hard, so thank you to all staff there for working as well as they so.
We always use Premier Inns whenever we can as we have always found them to be clean with comfortable beds and reasonable food.
Several of our family members had booked rooms for a family wedding.
Unfortunately, on this occasion the usual standards were not met.
Our room had a view of a building site, (not attached to, or anything to do with where we were staying.) where workers in white protective clothing were removing roofing material.
Wonderful !!!
The room was dirty with flaking paint and mould in the bathroom.
The room had not been cleaned to high standard with dirt and dust on electrical sockets and the tv cables, but the bed was of the usual Premier Inn good standard.
The other rooms my family booked were the same, so much so that one family member moved to another hotel as the mould and damp was even more evident than our room.
We understand that other people who were staying there were of the same opinion and wanted to change rooms but none were available as the hotel was fully booked ?!?
This obviously put a "damper" on the wedding we were attending.
To be fair, there were signs outside the hotel saying that renovations were being undertaken as they were moving the restaurant inside the main building.
The restaurant was adjacent to the hotel and was once a "Beefeater" but is now being run by the Premier Inn. The breakfast was the usual Premier Inn fare but the evening meal menu was a minimal one with limited items available.
The staff in the hotel, reception and in the restaurant were excellent and must be applauded for their help and friendliness.
So, all in all, not a good experience, and I fear that we will not be staying here again.
Hopefully, all of the above points that I have included in this review will be addressed and then maybe the Premier Inn Newton Abbot Racecourse can earn a couple more stars from other guests in the future...
Arrived at Hotel around 6.00 p.m. after a 10 hour working day to be advised that the restaurant was closed due to staff shortages / sickness. No notice given and no offer of alternative accommodation at other hotels. No restaurants / pubs within walking distance and had to drive out and find somewhere to eat.
In the morning woke at 6.00 to take a shower before going to work - no hot water !!
Staff at reception said they had forgot to reset the boiler.
Place currently a building site. Have requested a full refund.
Rather than travel back to London I booked the Premier Inn after attending Newton Abbot Races. Check in staff were very helpful, room was clean and comfortable and a good breakfast made it a pleasant stay.
I have now stayed at the premier inn newton abbot twice, and after the poor service I had last time I thought I would give them another try this week, well let me tell you that the cleaning staff spend all their time smoking and vaping outside the building, when you check in you are asked if you want your room cleaned and both times nobody bothers cleaning your room, when you try to call reception to complain, nobody answers the phone, whoever owns this hotel should be Ashamed of themselves, by far the worst premier inn in the Uk.
We have stayed here many times but sadly the hotel is in need of an update/refurb.
It is looking tired and not very clean.
The beds are comfy and thankfully clean, so too are the towels in bathroom although the grout in the shower needs a good bleaching as does the surrounding of the shower gel containers yuk!!!!
The restaurant only has a choice of about four items on the evening menu. So we gave that a wide berth.
Large Tesco over the road with a Costa coffee and snacks should they be required. Along the road towards Newton Abbot, two minutes by car is a mobile snack bar on B&Q car park. They do a very nice breakfast sandwich/roll.
We do like the location of the hotel being on a bus route into Newton Abbot town centre or Exeter which is why we go back.
Hopefully before our next visit a deep clean or refurb will take place.
I went for breakfast in the restaurant as a walk in customer. The young lady that was doing pretty much everything front of house was called Lauren. With a huge smile and a friendly demeanour, she made everyone welcome. She is a real credit to your company. Exceptional job Lauren!
Cleanliness of room and restaurant area left a lot to be desired. I raised the issue of the restaurant with the restaurant manager and was informed that they had no budget for a cleaner. He could not give me an answer as to when the toilets were last cleaned. He did not seem concerned when I raised the issues with the toilet. The food was mediocre for the price I paid.
Worst hotel I have ever stayed at,
Breakfast was terrible, I just got up & left as for me was inedible.
Could not have a shower or bath as the control for the hot water didn’t seem to be working,
You could clearly hear people walking around ect in the room above, which you would not expect from a premier inn,
General condition of the hotel & restaurant is very poor, deserves a 1 star at best
We stopped in for breakfast before a long journey, there was no one in the restaurant. Staff explained that the Beefeater is no longer owned restaurant and that the restaurant had been handed back to Premier Inn whilst a new restaurant is being built on the other side of the carpark.
In hindsight we should have left, but we had 2 hungry children in tow. The selection of food was pretty poor, all had clearly been sat out under the hot plate for some time. The fresh fruit was dry and looked as though it had been sat out for a few days. Not the standard we would expect from Premier.
Toilets were filthy, carpet sticky and when we made mention of the bathrooms to the staff, we were told that they had no staff and he was working a long shift and had to make the rooms up in the afternoon.
Basically until the new restaurant opens, don’t bother with this one, you will be wasting your money.
Bedroom was filthy mould on the walls and window. There was what we believed to be blood and faeces on the walls of the bathroom. The bed linen was clean but had holes in and our air on was broken.
Popped in off the street for a breakfast whilst running grandstand in Newton Abbot. Have to say it was the worst breakfast I have ever experienced in a premier inn! I opted for a cooked breakfast. All of it was very oily. The toaster was diabolical and needs replacing!! Coffee from machine was tepid at best. Very disappointed!!
Used to be pretty good when it had a Beefeater restaurant in there.
Would tell people to avoid!
Tried the premier again and booked premier plus which wasn’t worth the extra. Room ok. Cleanliness average. Shower leaked. Plus point it was quiet. Check in easy and staff pleasant. Hotel generally looks rough and in need of attention. There is refurbishment happening but no evidence. Premier ultimate WiFi a joke. Couldn’t use it to send files for work. Overall barely 3 star. I just don’t think they’re as good as they used to be. Lack of investment.
Easy to find, plenty of parking, quiet in reception,so checked in , and very friendly on reception next morning on checking out.We come here a couple of times in the year,we always choose this premier inn, town quite close and railway station nearby and a large Tesco opposite, great to grab snacks and petrol
