It is sad to see how far the standard of the rooms have fallen since our last visit to this Premier Inn last year. The room smelt musty upon entering as if it hadn’t been used for quite a while, the bathroom reeked of bleach. The fittings are far and few between, the room looked tired as did the bathroom. As there were only two mugs I had to ask for a couple of glasses and asked why I needed them. Furthermore, please, is it really too much to ask for standard loo rolls! The little sheets just feel unacceptable.
The worst was yet to come as nearly all night, bar a couple of hours, the guests above us moved around the room loudly all night. My husband said it sounded like clog dancers practising for a dance. Yes, maybe we should have complained but exhaustion and hope it would improve meant we didn’t. My husband only got a couple of hours sleep and myself an hour.
We couldn’t endure another night of this and as a result had to quickly find alternative and more expensive accommodation for the following night.
A highly disappointing experience especially since we have been loyal Premier Inn guests since they started their business in the U.K.
I know, Premier Inn now offer a luxury range however I hadn’t expected this to mean the normal rooms were made to be far inferior and no doubt the luxury ones are as previous normal ones.
Not having the chance to travel to much we were very much looking forward to this weekend and the experience at the hotel affected our visit for the worse.
Although we were quickly refunded the upcoming nights accommodation by the staff at the desk any discussion of compensation had to be taken up with guest relations. Given their number by the staff we called them once home to no avail. Apologies but no real practical recompense for our night.
Stayed for a night, great experience, clean room and nice atmosphere, Sam and Shanice on reception were very welcoming and the cleaners in the corridor were friendly, was really nice to see. Thanks for a great stay.
Location - a 15-20 min walk across covered walkway / rear of office buildings to access town centre. Atmosphere - needs tlc and updating. Rather musty / dated feeling.
Rooms - 1st one was cold, musty no opening window which was at high level and dark. Was offered another room which was ok.
Value - not worth the cost.
Cleanliness - average.
Noise - no issues
Service at reception was very good. Understaffed at breakfast served in adjoining Beefeater.
Sam at Central Telford was amazing from start to finish.
Friendly, welcoming and made me feel comfortable! Room was great and everything has been catered for. Thank you for my lovely stay!
The rooms were lovely and clean, beds were comfy and staff were friendly and helpful.
We stay at premier inn a lot all across the country and just wish there were more rooms with a wetroom available and that they also had the option for twin beds. Everybody can use a wetroom but not everybody can use a bath.
We stayed in a ground floor room (15). The room was as you would expect in a premier inn, good standard and very clean. However there was a terrible smell in the room and bathroom which wouldn't go. The window was open when we arrived which I expect was an attempt to neutralise the smell but it really was unpleasant. Also you can hear every footstep from the room above.
Plus points, impeccably clean and great breakfast and great customer service in reception.
Would stay again but ask for a room on the top floor to avoid noise disturbance and also hopefully have a room that smells pleasant.
Very pleased with my stay and the room was nice free car park and breakfast was very good service and nice to have air-conditioning
Very warm welcome from the morning receptionist. Bubbly chat and pleasant.
Visit was for a funeral so when I asked the following day for an iron to do my new white shirt I wasn't expecting to get a 🟣 mess all over the new shirt.
Spoke to reception (different member of staff) and was given an older iron. She wasn't really interested in what had happened.
Luckily the stain washed out.
Had meal in adjoining beefeater and staff were lovely. Looked for manager as we left to compliment her on her staff but couldn't find her.
Out server was "Molly" very chatty and bubbly. Thank you.
Very close to shopping centre 15 minutes walk and opposite the train station
2nd time at this Premier Inn and never failed to offer an outstanding service. Rooms comfortable plenty of spsce, great shower & added bonus of a hairdryer
Sarah on the reception showed great customer service and more than happy to assist with any questions a true credit to this business..
Hopefully see you next year Sarah !
Family room was a good size, air conditioning was amazing on such a hot night, and staff were really friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend!
Ah, Premier Inn – the comforting beacon of purple where weary travellers can usually expect a smooth, snooze-filled stay. Unfortunately, our recent visit to the Premier Inn Telford Central unfolded with all the charm and coordination of a fire drill no one was told about (more on that later!).
It all began with our bold decision to pre-pay for the elusive 11am early check-in. What optimism! What faith in humanity! We arrived, hopeful and suitcase-laden, at the promised hour, only to be greeted with the hotel equivalent of "Who sent you?" A staff member informed us that “they shouldn’t allow early check-ins, people don’t check out until 12,” while standing suspiciously close to a box brimming with recently returned key cards. Ah yes, the mythical they — known to sell dreams online and shatter them in person.
We loitered like forgotten luggage for an hour before being granted our rooms at high noon, receiving the keys with all the warmth of a begrudging favour. To be fair, we were grateful – we had a wedding to attend and showing up unshowered would have added a whole new subplot.
Later that night, just as we drifted off into post-wedding slumber, the fire alarm went off at midnight. Safety first, of course — but the rude awakening ensured the whole family felt like extras from The Walking Dead the next morning.
We clung to the hope of a pre-booked breakfast to revive us — until we were informed (after some tense glances) that booking a table is apparently separate from booking the breakfast. Who knew?! Fortunately, a hero among the staff managed to find us a table, possibly out of pity.
Pros:
• The breakfast? Still a triumph. Sausages, we love you.
• Air con in the rooms (a blessing for the erratic heat of a British summer!)
• Free parking thanks to our pre-29 May booking skills (we peaked here - you do now have to pay to park!)
Cons:
• Early check-in is more of a concept than a service. Think of it like unicorns or a stress-free M25.
• Communication could use some fine-tuning (maybe a helpful “You’ll need to book a table too for breakfast” email/note in the room?)
• Some staff seemed trained in the fine art of making guests feel like nuisances (a rare Premier Inn trait, in our experience)
Conclusion:
Would we stay at a Premier Inn again? Probably. But paying for early check-in? Never again!!
Night staff were incredibly vague and unhelpful - they also were watching something loud on their phone and were not wearing socks. We had paid for two nights with breakfast included - the night staff asked us when we wanted our breakfast but only reserved it for the first morning - on our second day they had no places for us and I had to argue to get a table - utterly ridiculous considering I had paid for it. Room was small for a family of 4 with the kids beds squeezed next to ours leaving us with only one bed side table.
Hotel was close to rail transport. Was the best sleep i had ever had and i have been to a few premier inn hotels. Very pretty place.
Reception and room were good although as far away from reception as possible which was not ideal as I use a stick to walk.
Breakfast had plenty of choice although it would have been nice to have it hot even when fresh eggs came out they were still cold.
I was surprised that as this was on the Sunday of the local airshow that breakfast was not started earlier as has happened at other Premier inns we have stayed at
We arrived late and were warmly welcomed by a friendly face who even managed to book us into the restaurant after asking if we’d had dinner. The team went above and beyond, helping with tables, taxis, and more—something we’ve never experienced at a Premier Inn before. A special thank you to Lauren, Sarah, Nicky, and Lily for making our stay so comfortable
We were always greeted with a friendly smile and staff were never too busy to say hello to us and made lots of effort with little one. Very clean, both in room and in public areas. Well located in the middle of Telford. 5 stars, will return for our next visit to area.
Great hotel, never had any problems. Special thanks to Lauren , Gemma, Sarah for organising food for me when I was delayed, give these people a bonus for helping customers. Also the breakfast lady with red hair and glasses always very helpful, can't remember her name.
The staff were very pleasant and friendly however, having been asked three times about allergies, mine being tomatoes, imagine my surprise when my dinner arrived with a tomato. Luckily it was on a bed of salad which I left alone. The rest of the meal was average at best! The following mornings breakfast was poor, buffet style. What little was available, if I am being kind was warm to cold. We attempted three times to get a reasonable plate of cooked breakfast failing on all three. This is not the first time this has happened to us with buffet style breakfast. If we ever stay at a premier inn again, my thoughts at present are that we are unlikely to, we will check before booking what type of breakfast is served, and only stay if it is cooked to order. Premier inn is deteriating fast, pull your socks up before it's too late!
I had room 18 on the ground floor and got woken by the occupants of the room above at 530 am simply walking around getting ready. The building does not have the required noise insulation I am guessing 50 years old.
That was the main issue but an important one when trying to sleep !
Excellent staff, very clean room and hotel, and went out way to help with disability needs of autistic child. Breakfast was tasty but very busy staff turned music to improve sensory impact and opened quiet part of restaurant to make accessible for child with additional needs. Staff very kind and professional with host levels of cleanliness throughout hotel and restaurant
Easy to find good parking and well located for attractions and town
