This hotel has a great location if you arrive at Shrewsbury station it is only a short walk and if you arrive by coach or bus it it adjacent to the bus station. Handy for shops, sights and much of what this lovely town has to offer.
I was allocated a room that, while the bedding and other fundamentals were all clean, had evidence of some rough usage; a chunk having been taken out of the desk surface by a previous occupant or maintenance person (some time ago by the look of it). The windows accumulated a lot of condensation by the morning too which suggested upgrades generally were undoubtedly overdue.
I got a good price, my stay was not disturbed and breakfast the following morning was just right.
The room was good and the food was good. The staff were really good especially the restaurant staff. In fact, since the manager Gary has 'not' been here it's been a huge improvement.
Does what it says on the tin. A perfectly acceptable, clean room and a reasonable buffet breakfast. However, we were shocked by the appalling lack of cleanliness in the communal areas! The carpets outside the lifts and rooms were absolutely disgusting, the photos don't really pick up how bad they were. Discarded takeaway tray just left (photo was taken around 9am, no excuse for checks not having being done before that time). The ornaments in the dining area were thick with dust, general lack of cleanliness. No, it didn't affect our stay but it wasn't exactly enticing to warrant another stay. Room 408, Thurs 27th.
Perfectly adequate for an overnight stay to meet up with family. Location is it's main selling point, but I have to say it is getting quite worn and tatty; it could definitely do with a refurb. Really not that cheap either.
Recently stayed at Shrewsbury town centre Premier Inn - good central location with parking and extensive breakfast offering. I had a slight problem with my room & Archie fixed it speedily & professionally so thank you for your efforts, much appreciated.
On the whole I was satisfied with my stay at this Premier Inn. I had a comfortable night's sleep and the room seemed clean. The location is excellent, close to the town centre, as well as the bus and railway stations. is fairly average. I feel that the building has seen better days and could do with an upgrade, as the appearance is a little shabby compared with Premier Inns that have been renovated. There is no fast charging in the room and I had to rely on my portable charger. The television was not very efficient, however I feel that I paid a good out-of-season price and so it was good value.
Check in staff not very helpful.
Evening bar staff Tracy and Adam very helpful, excellent service. Thank you for making our evening
We always stay here when visiting family in Shrewsbury. It is central to all the shops and restaurants. Hotel is clean, staff are friendly and breakfast is good. We always have a good nights sleep here.
Just returned from an Ok stay! Cons.. Black mould on bathroom dials. Not overly warm and car parking spaces very small.
Pros, great location, comfy bed, great blackout curtsins.
My third visit, I won't be back. I won't go in to loads of detail but when the heating wasn't working in my room staff didn't know what to do. On the third visit to reception, at my suggestion, I left with a plug-in. heater that slowly did get some heat in to the room. The whole experience was unpleasant I'll look elsewhere when I come to Shrewsbury. I've raised a complaint and hope to get a refund as the whole experience was dispiriting and left a really poor impression on me.
Outstanding Service from Tracey and Bella!
I stayed at Premier Inn tonight and was genuinely blown away by the service from Tracey and Bella. From the moment I arrived, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Their professionalism, friendliness, and genuine care made me feel the experience was so personal and welcoming.
They handled everything with such warmth and efficiency — it’s clear they truly take pride in their work and the comfort of their guests. You can tell when people love what they do, and Tracey and Bella absolutely do.
They both deserve to be recognised for their amazing attitude and outstanding service. Premier Inn is lucky to have them — they turned a simple stay into a memorable experience!
My husband and I stayed for a three night stay for
a mini break visiting the area. On the surface the room was very nice...we had the most upgraded room you could get at this premier inn. We were actually in room 415 and I would totally advise rejection of this room if you want a decent night's sleep!
Once in bed we noticed a constant humming noise...I turned off everything that could make a noise, fridge, air conditioning...alas to no avail...standing by the door under the extractor fan the humming noise prevailed. Next morning after a dreadful night's sleep we reported the issue to reception asking for maintenance to fix the noise. Upon returning after our day out ...you've guessed it no fix and still annoying humming noise...early evening we went to reception and basically got fobbed off as there were no rooms to change to being Saturday night. My husband specifically requested the manager was made aware as it really needed sorting. We were also told that someone else had complained recently about the noise in our room. Next morning whilst room 416 was being cleaned I stood in the entrance to the room ...completely silent....so it's NOT a common occurance as one recent review for this hotel mentioned. I am guessing they were fobbed off like they have now tried to do with us. After three terrible nights sleep, (we had to stuff cotton wool in our ears...and I now have a sore ear confimed by my audiologist!) We completely followed their complaints procedure by reportingour issue at the time (twice) and phoning customer relations Upon returning home well within the time permitted..and (despite being told by a member of staff that they no longer guaranteed a good night's sleep!!!! ) we were told that they had fully investigated and there was no case to answer, the staff member completely denied saying they had had a previous complaint about our room...one of us is lying and it's not us!!! Incredibly difficult to complain and to a escalate higher level. Never again
Only booked for one night. Booked the meal deal(evening meal and breakfast) as we were driving for nearly 4 hours to get there. Thought it would save us having to find somewhere to eat on a Saturday night, how wrong was I. Was asked if we had booked a table, said i had booked a meal deal but the website doesn't have an option for booking a table. Couldn't seat us for over an hour. Said sorry we have to be somewhere else in an hour. Ended up having a sandwich from a local supermarket!!!! Not my idea of a two course meal! For future travellers make sure you ring the hotel to book a table even if you pay for a meal deal!!! so your not disappointed. I did get a refund but not the point.
Had to write this review on how impressed we were as a couple who stayed with friends for one night . 16th Oct 25. The staff were brilliant especially the young lady who was there when we got back after our night out , she went above and beyond, didn't get a name but she served us with drinks at the bar , and then made sure we had plenty of stock tea milk , and found my hubby a hot Chocolate! Bless her she's an asset!.the rooms was clean and comfortable very impressed! . Breakfast was absolutely brilliant we all really enjoyed it great produce and nicely cooked. Well done to all on shift that evening and the morning of the 17th Oct 25. Thankyou to you all. We stayed to see the queen tribute at the theatre seven, they were good ate at the Armoury fab food. Just a short walk to both from the premier inn.
Good location, very close to the station and the town centre. I choose the premier plus room which was quite nicely decorated and furnished, a bit dusty in some areas such as around the mini bar fridge. Slightly overpriced I felt at £114 for 1 night. Some parts of the property were very dirty specifically the lifts, area around them and the corridors. Just needed a hoover and a mop. Arriving after 3pm noon Friday I could understand but there was no change the next morning until I left at 12pm. Purchased breakfast which was mediocre however was only £10.99 so this was okay. Overall I didn't feel my stay was value for money, the overall place needs a good clean but the staff I came across were quite friendly. Would try staying somewhere else if needing to visit Shrewsbury in the future.
Just home from weekend away in Shrewsbury town centre Premier Inn.
Whilst the hotel now is looking a bit dated, carpet away from gripper in rooms, side table missing next to bed so you can't put a cuppa down except on the floor, and a damp/ musty smell in the room as the windows don't open. This is counter balanced by the wonderful staff, who go above and beyond to help customers.
If you are lucky enough to find a space, you will have difficulty getting out of your car. Such narrow spaces. Plus you can only pay for a whole day at £13 regardless.
Great location, fab breakfast and particular mention about Alfie who helped me at check in (think he's normally at a different branch) super star.
Rooms are very comfortable and had everything needed for a great overnight stay . Need to sound proof the ceiling though to prevent noise from thoughtless guests wearing hobbnail boots getting up early doors.
Please Premier Inn bring back individual pots of yogurt for breakfast as the yogurt trays look most unappealing and unhealthy.
Thank your staff for being helpful for searching for my lost credit card.
Last week I had a unplanned trip to Shrewsbury . One particular lady who was, I believe.named Tracey and works in Shrewsbury s town centre Premier inn made my day made my day bearable .
This Premier inn is in a great location in the centre of Shrewsbury. Great for walking to the castle, cathedral, abbey and river. Easy to walk to shops and restaurants. We didn't eat here but were able to utilise the comfy seating on the ground floor to meet and chat as a group. They will store your luggage in a secure room before check in at 1500 and on the day you leave. The premier inn car park was £13 for 24 hours and if you go over that time you need to pay for another 24 hours but there is another car park joined on (above it) which charges £2 per hour so we moved our car there for the last couple of hours.
Amazing over night stay work a night out with my best friend who I haven’t seen for a little while went out out came back to sleep off the alcohol high recommend
