It was great experience staying here on my birthday, Great location, budjet friendly hotel and everything is accessible nearby (Tesco, restaurants, Bars etc.), we stayed in Room 406 which was an upgrade to Sea view providing by the lovely staff members, We stayed in different hotels but this hit something different as this room has both Sea view and City view which was a great feeling that someone can enjoy during Sunset time.
Thank you once again to all the staff members (specially Housekeeping & Front office) for providing complimentaries on my birthday and special thanks to Sharon who was polite, friendly and professional. I highly recommend this property.
Friendly staff, great location and breakfast was spot on 👍
Had a view of the sea, and parking on site.. also site was very clean..
Booked a slot tonight for dinner, arrived, sat down and ordered drinks and food. I had the tomato and garlic linguine with a chicken breast and a pizzaette on the side. After an hour watching numerous customers that arrived after us have their starters, mains and desserts I asked when I might be expecting my simple dish. The answer was that the chef had been really busy and was about to lose it?!? I looked around at the other twelve guests and wondered who’d ordered something to make the chef so?
Our dinners finally came but unfortunately they were someone elses and we’re whisked away from under our knifes and forks ( I’d have eaten anything at this point!) with many apologies. After another wait my dinner was finally placed in front of me, it was a shame it was stone cold!!!!
I told the staff and it was whisked away from me. So near yet so far away!!!
After a blast in the microwave it came back as a solid ball of pasta with a very dry piece of chicken, which was slightly burnt somehow, on top .
What a culinary delight!!! And it only cost me twenty pounds!!!
I felt sorry for the staff for being held ransom by such an inept cook!!!
Super friendly staff. Received a warm welcome upon arrival, room was spotless, powerful shower and plenty of hot water, good hairdryer, no late night noise so had a restful nights sleep. Only minor was that parking was £8 and it would have been handy to have a usb socket by the bed. But for £60 odd can’t ask for more.
Great to be able to secure a sea view but the hotel is very tired and expensive for what it was. Parking was expensive, food expensive and the room expensive. Would describe as poor value for money. Rooms are tired and falling apart, the paintings kept falling off the walls. Food was plated up horribly and looked like something you’d serve to a toddler. The one dinner we had was £60 for two rather small and very unappealing plates of food, a couple of drinks and desserts we couldn’t finish because they were ghastly. Staff were friendly enough but incredibly incompetent, the waiting staff in the restaurant had no clue and got our orders wrong 2 or 3 times before we got what we originally asked for. Very disappointing. Hotel in dire need of a refurb and some staff training/recruitment.
Lovely welcoming staff in the bar.
Room clean and tidy.
Bathroom nice and fresh.
Shower not working. Too tired to report it in the evening. So had a sort of bath but I really wanted to wash my hair.
Reported it in the morning when I went to breakfast. Guy behind the bar went to "fix" it no eye contact and very mumbled apology.
Went up to shower. Still not work. This time water poured out between the pipe and the rain head. So I tried to use the hand held shower part to wash my hair over the bath. But this drizzled and then stopped completely. Glad I hadn't yet got shampoo on. Water stopped completely no matter which way I turned the tap. Just what I didn't need. Stressful time visiting relative in end of life care at the local hospital...
Now trying to find somewhere else to stay to night.
When reported back to the mumbling staff member he just typed and didn't say anything. After a few mins I said what are you actually doing. Writing a report he said. He handed me a scappy but of paper with a customer service number.
He didn't have anythjng to add and didn't want to apologise.
I think he must have been covering usual front of house staff. Didn't look or act like he wanted to be there.
Nice position overlooking the sea. The hotel is starting to look like it needs painting in bedrooms ect. Friendly staff but reception not covered so incoming phone calls not answered
Stopped here on a Saturday night while attending a concert in the area with an early check in, a fairly standard facility, we did book a sea view room, although not really a major feature and there was some road noise. Some distance from the town centre and pay for parking on depature. The staff were all polite and friendly enough when we spoke with them.
My family and I were blown away with the exceptional service with received at the Premier Inn Southend on Sea Eastern Esplanade. The staff from reception to bar and restaurant could not have been more amazing and charming. The rooms were so clean and comfortable. Thank you all for the amazing service you are all role models and we look forward to returning next year.
Just want to thank Mia for her amazing professionalism. The room was amazing. She went out her way to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you again.
Lovely staff, really friendly and attentive. Emma was really helpful and friendly. Good local people proud of their local area
Very handy location but so unwelcoming if you are meeting friends .
Wanted family to meet us for a drink to celebrate my birthday as we were walking up to see the fireworks and was told it depended how busy and as long as they weren't eating . They weren't eating but the whole place was so lacking in atmosphere we went elswhere to get together . We only came here as another hotel had maintenance going on but we had been here the year before so i guess we should have known better! Last year we ended up walking up to the pub up the road instead
Very short staffed but the staff there were amazing, working so hard to make sure all the guests had what they needed.
Gave great information and directions around town. Made our stay memorable
5 rooms booked and meals payed.
On arrival there was nobody to check us in (I think she was behind the bar and need more staff) room was dated and curtain pole was hanging off.
We booked the evening meal / breakfast combo which was a waste of money, they had run out of certain items on the menu and the food we were served was bland and cold.
The night stay was good bed comfy and shower okay, as for the breakfast this was the worst, hash browns tasted off and the bacon was rock hard.
Really disappointed as we work on the road and use many hotels from premier inn unfortunately this has put us off the brand and will be looking elsewhere for stop overs.
Was freezing cold and noisy because of air conditioning on
Told them and tried to claim back under the good night sleep guarantee and were told couldn't as hadn't told them but we had twice
Never going back
A nice Premier Inn. We paid over £100 per night for a family room. It was clean, spacious and the shower was good and the Premier Inn is handy for everything. The parking is £8 which seems to be common with all Premier Inns now. We didn't book breakfast but paid on the Saturday about £20 for 2 adults and the kids eat free. It was awful. The staff were miserable, the hot buffet was slightly warm, the fresh fruit salad wasn't fresh, the yoghurt selection was fine if you liked strawberry, the bread for toast ran out, the milk ran out, the pastries ran out and then 2 muffins appeared, they went fast. The tables were sticky. We used the restaurant in May and it was awful we thought it might have improved but it hadn't. Don't eat there. Lots of other places in Southend, go to any of them
I have stayed at this hotel several times but sadly this time our visit fell far short of the standard we have come to expect. There was only one person on reception who, whilst doing her best to help the customer checking in, was left to deal with rooms not ready for customers, and rooms which hadn't' been cleaned properly single handed. Having finally checked in, we went up to our room to find that it was a double, rather than the twin room we had booked and confirmed on check in that it was indeed a twin. After another wait at reception we were moved to a twin room, with the receptionist explaining that the first room was always configured as a twin and she didn't understand why this wasn't the case for us.
After this everything was ok, until I got home and realised that I had left a jacket on the hanging rail in the room. I have now spent 4 days calling the hotel at various times of the day, avoiding check in and check out times, but even at 9pm and 9.45pm my calls are never answered. I have also emailed the hotel via the email address in my booking confirmation email but these have also gone unanswered. I finally received a response from the main Premier Inn facebook page via Messenger this morning, advising me that they had also emailed the hotel, but I have still not received any response from them.
This has been an extremely frustrating outcome after a good weekend in Southend as it should not be this difficult to contact the hotel directly, and it has left me wondering whether we should book with them again if this is the level of service they now provide, whilst staying at the hotel and after the stay too.
Awful stay. Blood on bed sheets, broken toilet seat, shower broken, breakfast was non existent - no clean cups or bowls, no cornflakes, no pastries, no yoghurts, dirty floor, have to constantly keep repeatedly asking staff for cup or cereal! Seemed very short staff. Very poor quality and service.
Reception staff were lovely though and bar staff in the evening. Food in the evening was very poor though - many items on menu not available and portions were like a kids meal. Dirty used tissues on the carpet in the lift lobby for over 2 days. Just grim.
Only plus were the staff on reception and bar, carpark at £8 a day and aircon worked well in room.
Will not stay here again which is a shame as it was our go to when visiting family.
Been to lots of premier inns and room on 2nd floor one of the largest I've had. Clean with sea view (when the tides in )
Bright and airy restaurant, good location on the seafront. Parking expensive at £8 per night but can go in and out multipe times.
Would use again
