We love this hotel and always use it when visiting South Shields or attending events in Newcastle. Rooms are spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was as good as ever and both Brooke and Asha do a fantastic job-honestly can’t rate them highly enough and I sincerely hope their manager recognises what a fabulous job they do! There’s always a warm welcome, everything is well organised and the food is cooked beautifully.
We did have to get in touch with the manager about an issue with our last visit, and although it wasn’t a complaint and not any fault of the hotel, I can honestly say she dealt with it very well and we were happy with how it was resolved. Again it just shows how good the staff at this hotel are with customer relations.
The rooms are immaculate, really clean. Reception really warm, friendly and helpful. Breakfast really good. Only suggestion is put herbal teas and decaffeinated coffee in rooms too
Exceptional stay!
From the minute you walk into the building until you leave, the staff are attentive, knowledgeable and proud to be working in their hotel.
Rooms are bathroom are clean and tidy with crisp clean bedsheets. Lots of tea and coffee available and if you run out then you can replenish at reception.
Breakfast is fantastic and having stayed there previously it was something I was looking forward too.
Complete value for money and a hotel that is run efficiently with staff who enjoy working there.
The room was lovely, the staff were brilliant and the food was fabulous. From the outside it looks a little off putting as next door is closed down, but don't be put off by that, inside is lovely, as are the staff.
Room fine, modern and fairly clean. Good value for money. Best part was the staff, in particular Asha and Brooke the breakfast team. So accommodating, friendly and kind to our boys. Will return thanks to these staff.
Staff (Helen) on arrival gave lots of advice on places to eat locally and after deciding to order takeaway, allowed us to eat in breakfast room and use cutlery and plates.
Breakfast team, (Asha and Brooke) were also very cheerful and helpful. Asha in particular spoke to everyone making sure they had everything they needed and the returned comments on leaving were all appreciative.
We visit Premier inns several times a year and all are good but this time we feel that the staff are part of a happy team that is prepared to go above and beyond and deserved a mention
Would be great if the adjoining pub was open but apart from this the overall experience was great. The location is OK if you don't get lost from Bede or Simonside metro stations which Google maps took me to the Burger king, McDonald's and Tesco before correcting itself. I would suggest to come here if you want to spend a few days on the Toon as you would save money then being in the center of Newcastle (even with the price of the metro then the price of a Premier Inn in Newcastle itself)
Stayed at Premier Inn in South Shields (Port of Tyne), & wanted to express my gratitude to all staff during our stay. Special mention for Asher in Restaurant, who offered first class customer service, both to me & all my family at Breakfast.
Well done & thanks to all concerned.

Hotel itself was all you positively expect from the Premier Inn brand.
However, there is nowhere to eat or drink nearby unless you get a taxi.
The attached pub on site, The Cinder Path, has been closed for over two years and is is falling apart. This does not offer or add anything to the initial welcome or arrival on site. Especially when Premier Inn staff sit within its doorway smoking.
The hotel itself is great, excellent breakfast and very good team.
Premier Inn…try to do something about The Cinder Path! Open if for use as your own restauant or bar possibly?
Room was standard size, and did the job for a two night stay in South Shields. The area around the hotel looked a little run down, but the hotel itself was fine.
Comfortable hotel in excellent situation. Warm and welcoming staff. Have stayed a number of times and will be happy to return.
The stay at the Premier Inn at Tyne Port was perfect location to visit the surrounding area Whitley Bay. Tynemouth ,Seaburn and not far away from Durham
We arrived on Friday 26th September we took our two youngest granddaughters whom one of them was going to be 6 and she’d chosen to stay here for her birthday
We had a fantastic time staff were amazing
I would like to say to the two breakfast staff on Saturday morning who excelled themselves, they went out and bought her a small present and card and lit a candle in a croissant she was over the moon I’d like to say thank you sooooo much to go and use your own money to make her feel special well you did and she has told everyone
I never got your names but it was Saturday 27th September xxx
Always stay in a Premier for short city breaks. South Shields was very handy for son’s uni drop off and amazing value. The staff were the warmest, most welcoming and helpful of any hotel staff we’ve encountered anywhere in the UK. The room was clean and newly refurbed, the bed was super comfy and the room was blissfully quiet all night (much appreciated after a 6 hour journey!) The breakfast was high quality and delicious with a lovely attentive host and chef. Will be back for every uni trip over the next 3 years.
Stayed for 2 nights whilst taking part in the Great North Run.
Plenty of parking available, reception team very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and comfortable, very clean with a great bathroom.
Good Wi-Fi, excellent breakfast. Only downside is the on-site bar/restaurant has closed down, but there are other local eateries which the staff were more than happy to direct us to.
Metro is just a short walk away, giving easy and quick access into Newcastle and South Shields.
Will definitely stay here again.
Very quiet and room dark due to good curtains. Premier Plus is excellent for a more luxurious stay. Best night sleep in a while.
When we arrived the staff on reception were friendly and helpful and they asked I was doing the great north run. When I said yes they gave me a bag with some items such as a banana. This was a really thoughtful touch and it started our stay off very positively.
We booked a premier plus room and it was large and modern with a nice sized shower.
We hadn’t booked breakfast as we weren’t able to have it the first morning but on our second morning we added it on. The breakfast was warm and fresh and very good value.
The room had air con though we did have to ask for a fan as it didn’t seem to be as effective at times.
It is a shame there is no longer a restaurant but the staff were very knowledgeable about local places to eat. The inside of the hotel was very modern but the outside did look a bit tired.
We hope to stay here again for next years great north run.
Whilst I couldn’t give the hotel 5/5 for value for money due to the dynamic pricing applied for the Great North Run, I can give it 5/5 for the amazing staff and the service which we had. The front of house team were very friendly at check in and check-out and despite it being extremely busy the dining room staff were also brilliant during breakfast, going above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. The little touches such as the goody bag with a banana, water and Epsom salts were a lovely touch, as were the snacks which were available after we’d made our weary way back to the hotel.
on arrival we assumed it was going to be a run down premier inn however inside the rooms are lovely and look newly refurbished it's one of the nicest premier inns room wise we have stayed, the breakfast room is a little small as the restaurant is closed but the staff were brilliant and we got a seat ever morning we went down for breakfast. my only criticism is the outside needs a little tlc and it would have been nice to have the option of a restaurant but south shields was brilliant and we didn't struggle to find somewhere to eat. Staff were all very friendly and helpful would definitely stay there again.
Amazing time as always, rooms lovely and quiet didn’t hear a noise the whole time. There is always a car parking space. Staff always go above and beyond especially Sam and Chris. Wills definitely be returning
