Im not use to staying in a place with no connection to reception

Good selection of breakfast choice and good vibes
Staff is friendly and happy to help
Highly recommended for hotel stayers and walk-ins
Staff friendly and helpful. Unlimited breakfast meal deal very good for setting you up for the day. WiFi is speedy. I enjoyed my stay.
Brilliant customer service from Suzanna, Wendy and Rob. I would specifically like to mention Suzanna who went above and beyond for me. I am so grateful and would definitely recommend staying in this Premier Inn next time you are in Norwich.
Location was fine, atmosphere, food, the room, the bed, the facilities & the staff were all great. The big thing that affected my score was the kitchen extraction system. I stayed in room 119 which overlooked the back of the kitchen area & the extractor. It was very noisy all night & even with the double glazed window closed over, the noise just couldn’t be drowned out so unfortunately I didn’t sleep, ALL NIGHT. A real shame because apart from that, everything else was good.
Lovely stay here after visiting some friends. Lovely atmosphere and all staff are warm and welcoming and seem very happy to help.
Thank you so much to Benjy and Debbie on the desk Saturday night. They were so friendly and accommodating. We had just come from a terrible hotel over the road but the guys on reception helped us book a last minute room.
Excellent reception and service. Made so welcome from start to finish of my evening.
Emily and Beth are absolute stars!!
Benji at the Norwich branch was fantastic, very welcoming and friendly. Facilities and breakfast were good too. Hope to visit again soon!
We are currently staying at the Premier Inn Nelson and have stayed here many many times over the years. Norwich is great for family get togethers and Christmas shopping and TBH the hotel location and reasonably priced parking make it an ideal place to stay. However over these years the hotel has declined, we always book the premier plus rooms but even these have seen better days, our room 203 has an overwhelming stench of damp/mould, the air con didn’t work properly (so had to have windows open with traffic noise) and the cleanliness wasn’t great. If these are the premier rooms I’d hate to see what the standard rooms look like now. The “premier” rooms are pretty small with tiny shower rooms. The shower had good pressure and are stocked with Bayliss and Harding toiletries. The grubby hand marks on the door (not ours), the mould on shower seals and the thick dust on the glass light shade did nothing to convince us this was premier at all. The double bed was super comfy as always and we had the added luxury of a fridge and a coffee pod machine. We had access to ultimate WiFi for our stay but only on one device, so it’s a fight to the death on who gets to use it, when we tried to use the voucher on another device it said it had already been redeemed, sadly for Premier Inn I got to use it to write this review. The bar is quite simply a dirty dive of a place, we tried to order 4 of the cocktails for £20 which represented excellent value except they didn’t have the ingredients for most of the 6 or 7 cocktails on the menu so instead we ended up ordering 2 cocktails for £12 and some other drinks for our party of 6, the tables were sticky and furniture mismatched not sure if shabby chic is the intention here but it was just plain shabby. To top off our first evening in the hotel we saw a poster on the way back to our rooms advertising 2 cocktails for £10 so we’d been ripped off too. We all ordered breakfast, however there was drama as we arrived as reception had incorrectly booked us in for the second morning of our stay and to make matters more confusing put it under one name, we sat there while they sorted their mistake out until we were given the all clear to get breakfast, sorta wish they hadn’t. Sausage and bacon looked microwaved with no colour to them, beans were lukewarm and they’d run out of white bread and some pastries. With all the fuss we wish we’d gone elsewhere. TBH I was trying to persuade the rest of the party not to have our evening meal there given the state of the place and the quality of the food but convenience won over and we had our evening meal there. As expected there were at least 6 things on the menu that weren’t available (sense a theme here) which was a bit disappointing but we all managed to find something. Prawn cocktail didn’t come with the bread and butter as advertised and had to be chased and they had run out of the yoghurt mint dip for the Indian nibbles. The mains faired a bit better however the Korean burger was without the advertised Asian slaw. The turkey roast dinner was nice and everyone who had dessert enjoyed them so not as bad as I had expected. It feels like a hotel on its last legs with the team working hard to make the best of it with absolutely no investment in either training or facilities. I started at 3 but with all of the issues we encountered it had to be graded a 1, we’ve agreed we will never stay here again.
Bedroom nice and river view lovely. However, with no heating in the bathroom and no ability to turn the water temperature up (it was restricted), this was the lowlight for us. This also meant that the towels had nothing to dry on from one shower to the next.
The antiquated shower curtain was also very poor.
So, bathroom in need of a refurbishment definitely with a towel rail desperately needed.
After a bit of a slow check in (staff were changing shifts) we got to our very clean and comfortable room and had a good and peaceful nights sleep.
Breakfast in the morning was very good, probably the best cooked breakfast we have ever had in a Premier Inn. Chef was very friendly and came around the restaurant checking everyone was happy with the hot food. Only slight criticism was that the other staff were slow to clear the used plates and replenish the fruit, bread etc. Will certainly use this Premier Inn again.
Service was splendid, rooms were nice and clean, great location walking distance for everything you could need. Not a wide range of beers but a good range of beers and that’s what’s most important 😉 nice and quiet atmosphere.
great service from sophie o’brien was very
enjoyable grabbing a pint, fantastic selection of beers and spirits, great hotel 10/10
Premier Inn itself was no more than you can expect, although the Premier Plus rooms did not match up to other premier inns we have stayed in. The main issue was the bar and restaurant. We went there for a drink and everything was sticky and shabby, The floor and carpet was blackened and most pf the tables were very ropey. I put notes on the table to say they were disgusting. Managements response was they (I assume Whitbread???) were not going to do anything because the Nelson was going to be demolished. When asked when, we were told it should have been last year. That suggests that the company has washed their hands of the place at the detriment of their customers and we have been exposed to below standard facilities. Surely a good clean once in a while would not cause too much expense and give their customer base a better experience. That are other Premier Inns in Norwich so we will definitely trying another Inn.
The hotel is bit dated . The restaurant was filthy and no way near enough selection for Breakfast. We stayed in the plus room which was nice overlooking the river. Warm and cozy .
Been to this hotel 4or 5 times, but have to say the standards have dropped significantly, quality of service does not seem to high on their list, had wine spilt over me by the waitress in the restaurant, never anyone on reception to offer help or assistance, when I took advantage of someone being at the reception desk, asked if they could call a taxi for me, but was told that can't do that and to google a taxi firm. We were there from Friday to Sunday and had no room service at all, no beds made or towels changed, not cleaned, really poor service all around, the hotel generally was grubby at best, carpets were dirty, floors were sticky in the bar and restaurant, toilets were dirty needless to say, we won’t be returning.
Staff were responsive when needed. The room did not have the finishing touches we've seen before such as cushions on the bed. 2 lamps were not working. Air conditioning fan could be noisy even on low. Overall, just not as good an experience as we've had before.
Hotel and location fine. Clean rooms ,friendly staff. Restaurant I wouldn't recommend as unless you book they want you to sit at the bar as they don't have enough staff to accommodate table service. There were plenty of empty tables and I was told it's not there problem. Good customer skills. As a frequent traveller and business user of Premier inn I find this unacceptable.
Hotel well positioned for shops/theatre. Hotel is clean and staff are friendly. Meal deal good value, plenty of choice on menu.
