Pros:

Very tired hotel in desperate need of renovation. The evening meal on offer was very limited and portions were tiny for the price. Staying in Stornoway at any other hotel would have been more enjoyable.

Pros:

A really friendly team at the hotel and great breakfast was included. However the property is a bit dated and seemed pricy for what we had. The rooms have a 1980's feel to them. For location it's beautiful, set next to a Loch and handy to visit the near by attractions of the Broch and Blackhouse villlage.

Pros:

Doune Braes is very close to the Callanish standing stones, which makes it a super convenient location if the stones are on your itinerary! Everyone working at Doune Braes was extremely kind and helpful and the food (I had dinner and breakfast) was delicious. It is not a fancy accommodation, but the rooms are clean, spacious, and safe. Highly recommended if you are visiting Lewis and want to see the Callanish stones, particularly at sunrise or sunset!
