Pleasant Stay
Perfect stay
Will start with the plus points.Check in was easy and we had a lovely roast dinner. The bed was comfortable. We chose breakfast at 9 and there was plenty of options. The chef made a fantastic breakfast and was very helpful/friendly.
Unfortunately we did find faults with our stay.On arrival we noticed that there were no tea bags and only about 3 sheets of toilet paper. When we went for dinner we did mention this and also that the window didn’t open. The waitress gave us a half used toilet roll from the ladies toilet (we popped out for the evening and when we returned there was another one in our bathroom). The window wasn’t looked at and so the room was very stuffy and hot at night.
There was no shower gel in the bathroom dispenser (luckily we had brought our own) and the towels were marked. Out of 5 spotlights in the room there was only 1 that worked properly and another that was very faint, emergency light had tape on and in one of the drawers there was a broken ornament.
As I said previously, the bed was comfy but there was no headboard and so when we sat up in bed we were leaning against the wall. The curtains only just closed and the hooks moved.
Although the food was lovely, the chairs were extremely uncomfortable and so after eating our dinner we drove to another pub for the evening, we returned about 9.30 and the pub here was already closed.
Unfortunately, we would not choose to stay here again as the rooms need a lot of TLC but the staff and breakfast were very good.
Great stay, lovely staff, excellent breakfast.
Very enjoyable stay. Super friendly owners and staff.
Excellent breakfast- freshlt cooked. Loads of choice. Very quiet at night.
Great hosts, really nice and helpful when I stayed doing the coast to coast ride. Good spacious room and food was fab too.
We had a brilliant time stayed for 3 nights and had our dog with us who got treat as well as we did. Lovely accommodation and room couldn’t fault it. Only thing was the bar closed quite early
I booked a double bedded room with a trundle bed (for a child), but there was no such bed in the room allocated me. This was sorted out while we ordered dinner and we were moved to a different (better) room.
Very friendly staff and great food evening and breakfast.
Very friendly staff. The Red Admiral is a little outside the urban areas, so very quiet once the pub winds down. My wife was convinced that there was another (peaceful and tranquil) presence in the room, perhaps The Admiral.
From the moment we arrived to the moments we left, the staff was helpful friendly.
The location is beautiful.
The drinks are priced reasonably the food (breakfast) was wonderful. Served with a smile and presented with locally sourced sausages and bacon.
I'd personally have zero worries if i ever had to return.
The rooms were clean and the bed was really comfortable,
Lovely staff, nice food
The people working here were very kind and helpful, had food both nights we stayed and both meals were big portions and very nice. Breakfast was again really good full English spot on and again big portions to keep you going for the walks ahead, guy even made me some overnight oats which where the best! Can't fault the place ☺️
Clean & tidy basic accommodation in outbuildings at an affordable price. Pub restaurant is very nice with a cosy traditional theme. The staff are very friendly and helpful with their good advice and local knowledge
Lovely tidy wayside hotel and restaurant. Great breakfast. Will return for dinner and overnight.
A good stay. Clean and modern room. The resturant is a bit dated but the service was food and food ok.
Had a lovely stay with my family. I think what made the stay even better here was the breakfast! So much to choose from cooked and continental. Filled us up ready for a day of exploring. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Lovely place to stay, would definitely return
We booked this hotel for three people—two adults and one child. Upon arrival, the child’s bed was not prepared, and the next day, we were informed they had forgotten to set it up. The room was very dirty, and the bed linens were not changed during our stay. Not recommended.
Incredible location for the hikers and nature lovers. Great service by personal attention by the owner David and his crew. Special mention to Matt for those delicious food (trust me) and over all service from Richard. Loved our stay and will return…
Good stay
