Pros:

This hotel feels like stepping into someone's peaceful mansion. Enjoyed the common areas with the keurig coffee maker, filtered water, hot water machine and microwave. Several common areas for relaxing and enjoyment, including the outside deck. Rooms were clean and well appointed and minifridge worked well. Could use a few more outlets or usb ports. Staff was helpful and nice. Parking lot was full first night, and is small and expensive ($40), but it gave us peace of mind, even though the area seems clean and decent. Enjoyed our stay here and would return.

Pros:

overall a super cute stay i was going to a concert at the fox theater and it was a super easy walk. the only thing i would say is the parking situation is a bit eh there is a open fenced lot that stays open and you pay online it is easy enough but a bit sketchy there was some broken window glass around the lot regardless our stuff was safe overnight but something to think about or maybe find a garage nearby that has overnight parking we had no luck so ended up in the lot which the hotel recommended but it’s cheap and easy so maybe just make sure you take everything out and leave nothing noticeable if you are parking there but the hotel was super cute and i would definitely go again!

Pros:

The room was clean and comfortable. However, the lack of daily cleaning meant that, after a few days, the room became rather dirty. More importantly, perhaps, is the run-down nature of the immediate vicinity. There is no shopping to speak of, not much in the way of dining, not even a real grocery store. Sirens were a nightly occurrence. The room price was very good, the staff was great, but there are downsides that need to be considered.

Pros:

The Oakroost met my needs at a reasonable price. The room was fine, the other guests quiet, and the staff were responsive. It is in a bit of a transitional zone in downtown Oakland, but walkable to Asian food, the art museum, and even the Oakland YMCA. A couple of nice coffee shops within walking distance.

Pros:

Bathroom smelled of urine. Carpet was stained and dirty. Outside was loud and streets were dirty and homeless people camped out on sidewalks.

Oaktown Roost is a hidden gem in uptown Oakland. I appreciated the security measures in place and the staff attentiveness. Good central location in the town. Definitely coming back in the future

Lovely staff & beautiful space - but not quiet
Pros:

Beautiful place and lovely staff, and I would stay again. Things to know:
1. It is loud. There is a lot of city street noise, just what comes with being downtown in a city. But if you are a light sleeper it might not be ideal for you.
2. Very thin walls. You knew when the guests on either side of you were awake, watching tv, or on a call.
3. Noise in room: The mini fridge (which was great to have in the room) but made lots of noise in the night and the A/C in the (which is awesome that they have AC as it was a particularly warm week) but it would drip lots of water at night which was pretty noisy

Pros:

This recently updated hotel—so new you can even smell the new paint every now and then—is downright beautiful, well-appointed, clean, and spacious, with new furniture, flooring, bathrooms, etc.! And it's right in the heart of everything in downtown Oakland, just steps away from great restaurants and BART and bus connections. I will definitely stay here again!!!

Pros:

The secured parking for this property was not convenient. The room had an odor, like someone had gotten sick there. The door to my room was glass and not private. Online check in is not the best for everyone.

Pros:

I did have a great stay here with some minor caveats. The early check-in at 2 for $30 is not my favorite. Although my king bed room was truly giant (bigger than a few apartments I've lived in) there were no windows to the outside world (only a small one to the hallway/walkway, right at eye level for anyone outside if my blinds were open.) The sound proofing left a lot to be desired - with laminate floors and a large gap under the door, you can hear even the quietest of sounds. Their bed was incredibly comfortable. the room was pristine, and the location is so so convenient.
