Room clean and comfortable.
Check in was simple and friendly. The room was small but clean we did not use the spar facilitys but there was just a gym and pool no treetments. The breakfast was cooked well but the coffee was instant with water from a boiler.
Arrived early 2.15pm to be told I couldnt get into room until 3pm unless I paid £20 extra (thought that was a bit extreme ) decided to have a glass of wine whilst waiting then enquired about dinner in resturaunt to be told no chef and resturaunt closed . Nearest resturaunt 4mins drive . Could have told us about ni facilities before having an alcoholic drink . . Told me if breakfast was available at £15 per person ???
Not the best and will not return .😡
easy to get parked . Area was peaceful. rooms tidy .
food facilities were closed due to unforeseen circumstances but staff did point you in the direction for food in the area
Clean, quiet room. Helpful staff.
Lovely little Hotel, very friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast
A lovely Scot building with basic health club facilities. The room is clean and newly renovated. An unpleasant smell of history on the ground floor near reception. However the jacuzzi was not opened and the chef called in sick without a cover, dinner options nearby limited.
Road trip visits to nearby Falkland Palace and Garden is very convenient. The room condition is good and comfortable. Check in staff is efficient and helpful.
Breakfast is a little disappointing, a bit too salty, and mushroom is out of stock!
LOVED: The hotel staff were very polite and helpful. The room was AWESOME! I loved the bed, soft and comfy, cozy! Nice size bathroom and very light and pretty. Huge closet and plenty of shelves. Room even had an in-room safe and a full size fan. I didn't use either one, but still unexpected. The view from my room was so nice out of big beautiful windows that could be opened! It overlooked the back of hotel and you could see the lovely rooftops and flowers and distant hills. So, gorgeous! The pool was a very nice size. They have a gym area that looked very nice with many machines. I didn't use that area though, I only used swimming pool and sauna which were very good. They have an on-site bar area and bakery items and a front sitting area, inside and out. All were very good.
Disappointed only with three things: One, their jacuzzi was not working. Two, I didn't realize my room was upstairs when I booked. They do not have ground floor rooms. Lastly, during my stay, there was no restaurant open in the hotel the entire week. Another guest said the chef had an accident and they didn't have anyone else to cover. The area is very rural, so no close restaurants much. I ate from SPAR mostly. lol Food delivery was an option that I was able to use a couple times, but it arrived cold, of course. If you have a car and not handicapped, possibly not as much of an issue, though. But I didn't and I am.
Altogether a bit weird. Sink area was claustrophobic. Door handle codes a bit awkward. Visible cables off putting. Evening staff helpful.
we were not told there was no food till we checked in had to drive to another town for food no other food places there room was clean enough staff friendly enough
This place was awesome and made my mom and I feel welcome on our first trip out of North America. The staff was great, in particular one girl who we believe was a manager. She went out of her way to make use feel welcome including giving us destination ideas, recommendations, and complimentary services at the hotel.
I would 10/10 come back to this place. You can tell it's old, but it was clean, safe, and quiet with fantastic service. Parking was hard sometimes but that's it!
Staff friendly, hotel clean. We were there for only one night, so I'm not able to judge. I'll definitely come back to this place
Enjoyed with family 3 nights and staffs are really good.
A modern day version of Fawlty Towers.. a fiddly, unreliable electronic door locking system that refused to let me in. A shower that went from hot to cold minute by minute, a long dark hair on my bed (yuk), the restaurant was closed but no one bothered to let guests know in advance so they could make alternative arrangements as there is nowhere else to eat nearby.. a place run by idiots, best avoided!
Staffs were not friendly nor helpful. The guy at the reception was on the phone the whole time of the check in process. Room was super uncomfortable. It didn’t have cupboards for clothes. Swimming pool was close which was the main reason we booked it. They emailed me about the pool closer after I checked in already.
The hotel is well appointed in the centre of a beautiful village community. The gym and health facilities were well used by the local community. There is a handy SPAR nearby.
The rooms are the typical size of an old coaching inn and we stayed in a recently renovated room which was more than adequate for our stay. The only slight grumble I have is that the water pressure in the shower was low and as a result it ran really hot to really cold. I did notify reception who did get back to me to say that it would be looked at and we could have access to another shower. Having read other reviews this does seem to be something that does crop up. We were impressed with the eco friendly notices/approach and the fact that our refreshments were generous and replenished throughout our stay. The wifi was reliable and the smart tvs with access to Netflix and BBC iplayer were very welcome after a day out exploring. The hotel is conveniently located. We didnt eat at the hotel and unfortunately could not use the pool and jacuzzi during our stay due to routine works. We would have liked to. We were offered to reschedule our dates but we could not move them due to work/school commitments. A thanks to the fab housekeeping team.
Description of original room on Hotels.com was nowhere near the room we were allocated so we complained and got relocated. Staff were very sympathetic and understanding.
Overall our stay was just above average. Comfy room and bed but windows with secondary glazing couldn’t open and walls are quite thin. En-suite was adequate.
Bear in mind, this is an old refurbished coaching inn so not purpose built. Dinner was very good and breakfast was cooked to order and adequate.
Sauna was available during our stay but pool was closed for maintenance which was particularly disappointing as we were only told this a couple of hours before check-in.
Very friendly staff who were great. Facilities and general feeling of the hotel was a little dated.
