Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel room is beautiful and location cannot be beat! I was shocked to see there was a full kitchen with stove and oven, washer dryer and fridge/freezer. It’s a studio!
Great attention to detail and very friendly staff.
The hotel is really beautiful. From the lobby to the rooftop and lounge, Daniel Bar, the courtyard and the rooms. Really beautifully done. The negatives: do not stay in the standard king room facing King Street. You will not sleep. The noise coming from outside is just awful between the trucks with modified mufflers and thumping music, racing cars, motorcycles and party crowd which lasts until 3 AM. Then you’ll hear the garbage truck pick up at around 6 AM. Outside the hallways through your door is pretty loud as well. You can hear congregating groups at elevator. I understand that the king rooms with balconies overlooking the interior courtyard are much better in terms of noise. So make sure you book one of those! You can also get a flat which they originally offered to us, but we didn’t take it because we didn’t like the layout. It’s a space that has been broken up into three small spaces. The bedroom is like a box with bed just surrounded by four plain walls with no artwork. It would’ve been quieter, however! Housekeeping was fair. They clearly hadn’t vacuumed around our coffee table because there were still crumbs on the rug from breakfast. I did notice one or two crawlies on the floor. Not a big deal, but noticeable when there’s a bug crawling along your floor… The location on upper King is a long walk from the French Quarter and the historic districts. I wouldn’t stay there again. But it is beautiful! And the staff is nice.
Upon arrival we were able to check in right away and received a welcome drink. The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated in a moody mid century modern motif. Our room was on floor 2 which our patio opened to the stunning courtyard. The room is well appointed and the high end kitchen was such a useful amenity to have. We also were able to do laundry, which was nice to return home with freshly laundered clothes. The stunning bathroom was large and decorated with gorgeous tile and frameless glass shower. My husband and I enjoyed having cocktails on our patio, walking to local restaurants and shops and feeling like an extension of the city with the comfort of home. We will be back!
My stay at The Nickel in Charleston, SC was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with genuine warmth and hospitality, going above and beyond to make me feel welcome—including sharing their favorite rooftop bar recommendations that turned out to be absolute gems. The room design was stunning, blending modern elegance with thoughtful Southern charm in every detail. It was the perfect blend of luxury and personality, making my visit truly unforgettable.
Great location, beautiful interiors, wonderful staff.
The property is close to MUSC, restaurants and shopping. Cleanliness could be better.
