Pros:

Staff was very responsive (they only communicated via text; you check yourself in) but they text you back right away if you need something. They even contacted me that I left something behind when I left which is not something that most hotels would do. I was wary of staying in an old building because I’ve done so before and they were so filthy but this one was very, very clean. The decor and common areas were so cute. The library theme was really adorable and they have a really good assortment of books as well. They have fruit and a coffee/tea station set out for you at all times and there is a cabinet where you can help yourself to extra towels, toiletries, etc without needing someone to get it for you. It’s actually closer to an AirBnb experience but with the security of a hotel. The outside areas are also really nice! I will say there are 3 floors and no elevator so keep that in mind! Very nice and I would stay here again if I had to stay in the area.

Pros:

My husband and I BOOKed this beautiful, newly renovated property with books everywhere, for a romantic early Valentine's day so we could enjoy Longwood Gardens and the Brandywine Art Museum. We were not disappointed! We stayed in the elegant and plushly comfy Darlington Suite to enjoy reading in front of the fire before dinner at 1906. We got a twofer as the sunset dipped down amongst the bare winter trees outside for even more glow factor! The prompt and friendly communication with the property manager prior to check in and in getting the fireplace instructions, as well as the delightful meeting with her and the owner and family before checkout as they were preparing for a full house on Valentine's day, were the happy, feel good "bookends" to our short stay and just one more reason to return to this lovingly and stylishly restored historic homage to literature. Oh, and the photo booth! So fun! I can only imagine how beautiful the property, grounds and patios will be in the springtime! I should mention too, that the hotel is located in the fork of two roads, so there was some road noise during the day, but it did quiet down at bedtime. However, if one is sound sensitive, ear plugs or white noise will ensure a quiet nights sleep in the delicious 4-poster bed.
Thank you, Stephanie, Meg for the opportunity to veg in such an inspired and relaxing setting! All the best in your dream venture! 📚☕️👓📖 🍷💖
