Once in a while, you find hidden gems that exceed expectations. Nil Ralla is such a place.
Where do I start? The villa, which we had solely to ourselves, was exceptional. Comfortable, peaceful (even next to a busy road), and watching the sea from your private pool was very relaxing.
Gayan and his crew of two made us feel welcome the minute we arrived. They made all our meals fresh by hand and to order. He even went out and bought us some beer and gin after a chat we had. Awesome service.
The food was exceptional, and on our last night, we had a lovely candle lit fish dinner at the end of the garden by the sea.
Nimali, who overseas the property, who was an excellent contact prior to our arrival, came to see us mid week to ask if all was okay. We discussed a couple of small options to make it even better, which he took on board and is acting upon. That in itself is rare and speaks volumes about all the staff just wanting you to be happy and have a good time.
Spoke to one of the neighbours, who was very nice and a few others passing on the beach. Everyone is so friendly.
Sri Lanka is a special place, and Nil Ralla is a perfect spot to enjoy all that the south of the island offers. I wholeheartedly recommend this villa. You will not be disappointed. We were very sad to leave.
Whatever you do, take a bus ride to Galle Fort. Tickets are 25p each, and the ride is somewhat rapid in a pimped up bus. Awesome fun 👍
