Breakfast was excellent location was beautiful
The bed in our room and pillows were very uncomfortable so we did not feel well rested, the tv kept glitching so we had difficulty watching anything also the shower was very difficult to figure out also bathroom was very dated
The moment you stepped in the front door you was welcomed
First impressions it was very clean and friendly nothing was to much trouble
We booked for 3 nights but extended to 2 more might making it 5 nights
Nothing
Interesting building, very grand in its day. Lovely high ceilings, sweeping staircase etc, Nice view from our room.

The staff are fantastic, helpful and friendly and they have holiday makers that return time and again so that speaks volumes to me. We were on the top floor so quite a few stairs and when checked as my description advised ceiling fan I was told they didn't have that anymore. Room was rather warm for me, please note a fan provided and another could be given If required, if I were to go back I would ask for a lower floor as I think this would help. To sum up if you want a picturesque setting with a beautiful view and really lovely people prepared to help with anything then give this hotel a try.
Position and staff were lovely.
Swimming pool was full of algae and we weren’t able to use it. The family room was very dated and the bathroom was in a poor state of repairs.
Staff were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble.
Staff were absolutely amazing, nothing was ever too much for them. Like other visitors reviews, Tom and all the staff, owners very friendly. Breakfast really well organised, lots of choices. Had evening meal a couple of nights and can honestly say, really lovely home cooked food.
If we return to the Isle of Wight in the future, I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel. Highly recommend! 😀
Nothing!
The staff were exceptional. The breakfast was really good.
The photos showed an indoor pool, and they haven't had one for years now. That is the fault of the photos...
A lovely, historic building, set high on the cliff above Shanklin, giving great views out to sea. Within easy walking distance of the old town, chine and beaches (for a fairly fit middle aged couple). Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Ample parking. Good breakfast.
Although clean and comfortable, much of the hotel would benefit from a facelift/redecoration as it did look tired, especially in communal areas. No lift. We didn’t use the pool. Pillows were hard and need renewing.
Views are beautiful, as are the grounds. Was very pretty to look at.
The bar is cute and it looks like 30 years ago this would have been a lovely place to go
The pool isn't heated and the surrounding areas would benefit from a jet wash.
Bed hard and uncomfortable
Tiles on bathroom floor are loose, extractor fan doesn't help 4 wet towels with not enough hanging space to dry so smelt like wet dog.
No door to separate the bunk beds and bedroom so if we didn't want to go to bed at 8pm when my children did we had to sit in the dark.
Hotel had no vibe or buzz, we can picture how it may have once been a wonderful place to visit and a buzz on the patio with drinks but there was nothing.
Hotel didn't seem busy when we were there, hardly any cars in the carpark and maybe saw 1 other family per day we were there (4days) we had 2 children and felt we'd been put at the back of the hotel with a rubbish view (of the bins!) Rather than something nicer looking over the grounds.
Positioned on a steep hill.
We'd already read the reviews about the breakfast being bad so we didn't bother, we didn't want to risk being disappointed so headed out each morning. It also looked like no other person was there for breakfast or dinner either.
Tom was amazing, he couldn't do enough for us, and any info, Tom was your man. Thank you Tom
The pool needs some TLC
Location was great
Dated. Needs some updating
Very ordinary breakfast.
Location only ok if you could walk up the hill. No good if you were in a chair.
Cooked breakfast/ buffet.
Not changing the towels regularly enough.
