Pros:

The staff were excellent the land lady was a joy room was everything you needed and also dog friendly

The £15 charge for the dog wasn't clear on website but the £10 voucher we received covered more than enought

A good place to stay
Pros:

The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from Bolton town centre in a quiet location next to a church.

The rooms are next to the pub and restaurant, which can be accessed by an entrance out back. If you prefer to come and go without going through the pub, you are given a key to a side entrance.

My room was clean and spacious and the bed large and comfy. The bathroom was modern and clean.

The restaurant has a good menu. I didn’t have time for breakfast, but it looked and smelled very good!

Parking is free in the pub/hotel car park just across the road.

The location is perfect, away from the centre but only a short drive to all amenities. If you like walking then it's great for that.

I would stay again, especially for the price.

Could have been so much better.
Pros:

The Black dog offers affordable accommodation. An excellent restaurant, friendly bar service and comfy beds. Unfortunately the room wasnt cleaned properly with my bathroom bin full from the previous occupier, bottle tops in the corner and a loo that hadnt been clean with a broken seat.
Its these little things that make a good score.
