Lovely rooms all clean and staff very friendly. Would stay again
Was like the Marie Celeste on entering. No facilities available . Hotel looked very tired and dated. Didn,t feel safe as young men loitering around entrance. Had been unaware hotel had been used as refugee/migrant accommodation in past or wouldn,t have booked
Tired and shabby, No facilities available. Didn,t feel safe due to men loitering around outside . Would not have booked if had been aware it had been used as migrant/refugee accommodation.
This is an independent, family owned hotel which was obviously quite grand in the past and which is conveniently just minutes from the A1. Whilst the decor is showing signs of being dated, everywhere was very clean. Our room was spacious enough to have a small table and chairs, well equipped, and with a modern shower room having a large shower cubicle. We were met by a happy and informative receptionist. We were only on an overnight stay on our way back from Scotland to London, but would be happy to stay again if the need arose. Currently there are no restaurant facilities but we were informed that they are hoping to offer breakfast in the near future.
The hotel smelt
No facilities, pool closed, gym closed, restaurant closed
The hotel was good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was excellent (119) with king size bed and plenty of room. The bathroom was newly decorated and the shower very good.
The room, corridors and reception area were clean and tidy.
The only negative is that there is no food on site and the leisure facilities are no longer open and will probably never re-open.
Food and drink can be found nearby at The Farrier attached to the Premier Inn which was nearly double the price for a nights stay. People who we were meeting stayed there and were disappointed as it was noisy. In contrast, we found The Urban was very quiet.
In summary, I would recommend people to stay here whether they are on a business or leisure trip.
Okay the Hotel is just starting up again undernew owners so you know you can't expect the Ritz, but for what we paid £80 for a room with two doulble beds, coffee and tea facilities,TV, free internet, trouser press, hair dryer, ironing board and iron, electric heater.
The bathroom did not have a bath, rather an amazing double shower with unending hot water and super clean white towels.
The receptionist was so polite and courteous as was the night security person.
There was plenty of parking and disabled bays.
As I mentioned the hotel is under new management,so to some it could look a bit tired and maybe do with a deep clean, but it was just great for our stay.
We wish you all well, and thank you for letting us know we left some things behind and helped us to arrange collection

Excellent conference venue BUT very shocked that there was no restaurant or bar available. I had to go and explore Grantham to find a supermarket to purchase some provisions
The hotel generally looks a bit tired. The bar opens ad hoc and there is nothing on draft, therefore you are left with cans or bottles, which considering the level/condition of the hotel are quite expensive. On my recent stay the boiler had been turned off and I had to wait for a couple of hours after coming back in from working to have a shower.
Had a great stay at the Urban. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, and the bed was super soft and comfy.
Given the location, it was surprisingly peaceful and quiet, with road noise at a minimum within the hotel. Great transport links, and a lovely walk into town.
Room comfortable
It was ok but no bar or kitchen
Good
..
Room very dated but clean and tidy and very spaces and would book again. Great value for money
An old and dated very large hotel looking very tired inside, but our room had most things we required and a comfortable bed. Spacious bathroom with places to store the normal toiletries, unlike our earlier stay in a Travelodge.
It is such a pity that this hotel has a black mark against its future with the closure of the restaurant and other facilities.
Just acreally pleasant quiet stay for one night. Great staff. And a very good nights sleep
Nice rooms. Excellent value for money. Unfortunately, being renovated so no option for food at the moment. Comfy beds, clean white towels.
The most dirty hotel I have ever seen I was actually horrified that this hotel is alowed to operate
