Staff was welcoming and pleasant. Bed was soft and comfy. Needs upgrading.
Poor breakfast. We went elsewhere. Clean but everything is old and banged up
Room was as described in photos, though a tad dated. Unfortunately, we arrived a little late for the breakfast, and there was no milk/cream. The food was acceptable and the friendly employee assisting with serving made the experience positive.
The room 403 was huge, large bathroom, generally clean bed, dated bathroom-old fixtures, poor lighting. Property is old and needs lots of upgrades. Breakfast was very limited options, confectionery seems stale. High rate for room/stay.
Needs a lot of work. Lots of things in the room didn’t work.
Good
At 2:30am i found a bed bug crawling on my pillow!
So, i had originally stayed here back in 2017, and back then this hotel was still a Ramada Hotel. Back then it was clean and well maintained.
Then, this past weekend, i had a long drive back from a friend’s wedding and decided to break the trip up into two days. I saw a good price for this hotel, which was no longer the Ramada Plaza hotel, but now the Albany Plaza Hotel (though the sign out front says it’s the “A Plaza” with the “R and MADA” from the original sign painted over). I thought, well it was nice back in 2017, it’s probably still nice now even after the name change. Wrong.
From the outside, you can see how the current owners have neglected the property. Overgrown grass and bushes and many potholes all through the parking lot.
The lobby seemed ok, but only one elevator was working, and it seemed a bit dirty. Once i got on my floor, it smelt bad, kind of like a barn would smell, and wasn’t lit very well.
Once i got into my room, i was taken back by how hot it was when i first walked in, well over 90 degrees. I then noticed that several pieces of the ceiling had broken off, or were hanging off. The furniture was all in extremely rough condition. The bathroom was bad, no tissues in the spot for the tissue box, a dirty shower curtain and a dirty bathtub floor. Also, i noticed the mattress wasn’t kept in a mattress protector.
Then at 2:30 am, i saw a bed bug crawl across my pillow. Unacceptable!
This hotel was great for a one night stay. We enjoyed the fresh waffles in the morning! The property is a bit older; however, everything was cleaned and in order. We would stay here again
Room smelled somewhat like a mix of cigarettes smoke and mildew
Friendly staff.Excellent value for stay.
Unique kind of ambience
For the money, there were low expectations. The parking lot was uneven with many potholes. The hallways were dark. The room was large but had many non working parts from the shower curtain to the lamps. We would try someplace else next time.
Room was very comfortable and spacious.
Staff was incredibly helpful in ginding non-fast food places to eat.
The parking lot wasn't well lit. The driveway needs to be paved, gps did not indicate the precise location of the hotel and during check in, my information was not readily available
Hotel staff is nice.
Parking lot has too many potholes. Breakfast staff is extremely unfriendly. Front desk staff was fine. Breakfast is extremely limited. Have to beg for a cup of coffee. The breakfast staff has a tips cup on serving desk. Those who tipped him get good service; those who didn’t tip him get poor service! ☹️
Staff is the best thing about this place. Most of the staff are attentive and thoughtful.
I would never stay here again. I booked this hotel for myself and my parent, and the service was absolutely terrible. They only provided two towels for three of us, and when I asked for more, the front desk guy told me I’d have to “wait until tomorrow.” That makes no sense, especially when I’m only staying one night. He was rude and completely unhelpful.
The hotel recently changed its name from Ramada Albany to Albany Plaza, but the poor service is the same — if not worse. For the price they charge, you’d expect basic hospitality, but instead, you get attitude and excuses. Save your money and stay somewhere else.
An old Ramada Hotel looking very tired, but comfortable.
