Overall, my experience at the commodore Hollywood was … weird! I arrived and there was nobody at the desk for checkin. I called and eventually someone came, but he never asked for any ID, barely greeted me and then eventually gave me a fob/key without even letting me know which room I was in. (Note: I never saw any person at this check-in desk throughout my entire 4 day stay)
I got up to the room and the door had an envelope on it. I assumed this was from the check in desk to apologise that they couldn’t be there for my arrival, but I found instead that it was the building managers informing the room occupier that they would be entering the room to check on it between certain hours.
The room itself was fine, but the soundproofing and creaking floors (from above and below) were absolutely insufferable. Sleep in this room was difficult, if not impossible. I could hear footsteps and doors slamming, as well as a poorly neighbour coughing non-stop throughout the night (Not annoyed at the neighbour, but frustrated that the walls were so thin that I could basically hear everything). The shower had a small bottle of body wash, but no shampoo.
Perhaps I’m cranky from the lack of sleep over the past 3 days, but I really couldn’t recommend this as a place to stay.
It's LA. The property itself is nice. It's generally a safe area, but it's still LA and be vigilant with the surroundings as there are not many truly safe areas in LA. The area is dirty from the homeless.
