2 nuits dans un hôtel confortable accessible au centre ville à pied.
Pros:

Petit déjeuner magnifique, un peu loin d'accès (dans l'établissement d'à côté).
Parking en sous sol très bien mais nécessite un passage dans la rue à pied pour accéder à l'hôtel (il est situé sous l'hôtel d'à côté).

A really lovely stay
Pros:

Great location, walkable to the old town. Our room was spacious and beds comfortable.
The most helpful receptionist checked us in on our first day. She gave us lots of information on where to go.

Charming hotel, but no restaurants or bar... must walk to sister hotels for these facilities.
Pros:

This is a elegant small hotel in a good location... The room was charmingly decorated and the views are lovely across Funcal and out to sea (upper floors). The single very helpful staff member was on hand in the lobby and able to mix us a drink from a small range of wines and spirits kept behind reception! There was a comfortable quiet lounge and a pool table. It is very easy walk down the hill (about 10 minutes) to the main town centre.

Cons:

The biggest issue which detracts from this hotel is the lack of eating and bar facilities in the actual hotel. The Pestrello is attached to a much larger Pestana hotel complex which is where we had to walk to for breakfast in the restaurant. This could have be more clear in the booking information -- you have to walk some distance, over an outside footbridge and then head down two floors the lift, and walk further past this sister hotel's reception. The restaurant did a very nice breakfast and the staff are helpful. This restaurant offers evening meals, but was fully booked when we stayed. The next 'in house' option to walk on through more corridors to another, second, even bigger sister hotel "The Village" and join its buffet dinner option. This was big and very busy and only average quality. Here was also the only bar open during our visit... so about a 10 minute+, twisty, turning, up and down floors trek.
The pool area at Perestrello is elegant and beautifully kept, but somewhat noisy, because the hotel is raised up above a busy intersection. The bigger swimming pools and ones more exciting for children are again, over in the sister hotels -- and very much more busy.

Pros:

Friendly welcome by receptionist .Large bright room with large balcony with distant sea view ..Bathroom was good but mixer taps were difficult to set for right temprature .
Nice old mansion house building in its own attractive garden with modern extension..Excellent location being short downhill walk to old town and promanade .Lots of excellent restaraunts in walking distance .Lovely traditional lounge with snooker table and seperate reading room .Our 3 day stay was very good and we would return notwithstanding it rained every day.

Cons:

Although breakfast was very good with waiter service with many choices of freshly cooked eggs etc , as well as buffet ,the nice breakfast room was in an adjoining hotel which was difficult to find due to lack of signage .Garage was also in adjoining hotel which was not convenient and the remote door did not work once as our card had not being programmed ..

Das Hotel ist noch fast neu, sehr sauber und schön. Wir hatten ein grosses Zimmer im EG. Fürs Frühstück mit ins grössere Hotel gewechselt werden, was aber kein Problem ist. Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet mit einer netten Bedienung.
Parkieren des Mietautos war auch kein Problem (gratis Garage).

Cons:

Obwohl wir eigentlich sehr zufrieden waren, gab es 1-2 Dinge, die nicht so super waren:
- Wasserdruck der Dusche viel zu schwach
- zum Fitnessraum müsste man ins übernächste Hotel gehen (zu weit weg) und dieser war recht klein
- das Hotel liegt wirklich an einer stark befahrenen Kreuzung. Vor Mitternacht musste man die Fenster geschlossen halten
