We’re quite taken by the refurbishment
Beautifully restored hotel. Luxury furnishings and linens. Fantastic location.
l'unica cosa che non mi è piaciuta era la vista dalle finestre, in particolare una finestra si affacciava su una casa vicina e potevano vederci dentro.
Its the 2nd time we have stayed, and its our go to hands down when we visit Hamilton from home. Great bed, coffee & breakfast was excellent in their beautiful dining room and outdoor seating.
Nothing however we prefer the bigger deluxe room for space around the bed.
Super Hotel, sehr schöne Zimmer und sehr freundliches Personal. Top, Erwartungen übertroffen!
1. Reception staff (Nikita?) was very professional, extremely friendly and helpful.
2. The hotel is a little gem in the Cambridge township. Tasteful interiors and a lovely terrace & courtyard for sunset drinks.
3. The Superior King room was immaculate, light, spacious and tasteful. Huge comfortable firm bed, fantastic memory pillows, individually controlled aircon, large bathroom with very good shower, nice bottles of body wash & shampoo (none of that bolted to the wall cheap stuff so often seen elsewhere). Bright white fluffy cotton bathrobes.
4. At 7am we got superb coffee downstairs from a young lady barista. Kōkako beans.
5. Easy parking.
1. Confused young restaurant staff. The receptionist booked a table for us, however the restaurant staff were unable to comprehend that we were hotel guests. Eager to relax with a drink in the courtyard, we had to endlessly wait while 3 separate staff fussed around and kept asking us our name. It could have been a simple case of: please have a drink while we sort out your table. Happy days.
2. The restaurant food was average and expensive, belonging in the "fancy & tweezered" rather than "simple & bold" flavours category. The salmon carpaccio was ok, but there was more of the pickled fennel than the salmon. The terrine was dry, gritty and rather tasteless, surrounded by too many fussy irrelevant tweezered elements. The crostini? was inedible - hard & dry. The slow cooked pork belly dish flavour was good, reminiscent of a European classic of pork belly with braised sauerkraut and potato dumplings. This would make sense since the executive chef is supposed to be Czech. However the addition of spinach was confusing and the 3 miniature potato dumplings were disappointing. On the other hand, the chicken pasta dish was tasty and generous. The side of honey carrots was ok but the broccolini was sad, cold, and wilted. Best dish, sadly, the french fries.
After complaining about the broccolini we got free desserts - the Earl Grey panacota was so so, whilst the Jaffa cake pastry was very dry.
The cuisine really doesn't have to be so try-hard look at me fare. NZ is already full of such establishments and they are all failing at an alarming rate. The hotel is already so lovely...
3. Whoever made the decision to fit the hotel's high-traffic hallways and rooms with a light coloured carpet will be regretting it very soon, if not already.
4. Having a nespresso machine in a room is great. However, not including a milk frother makes it redundant. Luckily, the hotel barista does make a great coffee.
lovely and clean comfortable and central
all good
Easy walk to cafes and pubs.
Would have liked the tea/coffee making area to be a little bigger.
The Clements Hotel is now our favourite place to stay in Cambridge. Our room was spacious and comfortable with everything we needed, including an electric jug as well as a nespresso machine.
I liked the shower with the facility to turn on the water at one end and the water source at the other end so it was easy to wait for the water temperature to be right without getting cold and wet. There were lots of thoughtful features.
The reception staff were very welcoming. The wooden staircase which leads up to the first floor was magnificent as were all the architectural details which tie in with the facade.
There was nothing to dislike
Beautifully presented grand building.
Modern and posh
?
It’s a very beautiful hotel. They have put a lot of effort into making it feel luxurious. The room was lovey - spacious, nice decor, very comfortable bed and bathrobes. A huge plus was the complimentary minibar for the first night - that felt very generous. I wish I’d had more time to have a drink out in the garden.
No complaints about the hotel room - it was lovely. They have a restaurant on site and whilst I really enjoyed my food, it is expensive. I had a pasta main (no starter or dessert) and 2 drinks and it cost me $100. It was my choice to go there of course, but thought it worth noting. No complaints about the food - very tasty.
Neu renoviert, zentral gelegen, Superbarman
The hotel itself was lovely. Great location, nice fit-out with comfortable bed and a good shower. We also enjoyed the underground bar for a drink before heading out. It was quiet and we slept very well. My issue with the hotel started after we left in relation to an erroneous credit card charge. This was eventually resolved but took several emails and the presentation of photographic evidence to have the charge reversed.
Unfortunately, after we left the hotel erroneously charged us for a Sleep Mist which they insisted we had taken. We did not take it. There was an information card referring to the mist in the room but the mist wasn't actually there - we looked for it. I contacted the hotel to ask what the additional charge was for and was advised this was their reason. I explained that we hadn't taken it expecting a refund but was initially refused. Eventually I found a photograph I had taken when we first arrived in the room showing the mist was absent. When I sent this to the hotel they apologised, offered us a discounted stay and refunded the charge. So while this was eventually resolved it could easily not have been so my suggestion to future guests is that they check the room carefully when they first arrive and report anything missing to reception straight away to avoid being charged by default.
