Categories

Cleanliness
1
Consistently praised across reviews: described as clean, modern and tidy (multiple mentions in English, Spanish, Chinese, German, French, Portuguese).
Service
1
Staff repeatedly described as friendly and attentive with special mentions for Eric; however there are isolated service issues (staff not fully informed about hotel procedures, a taxi booking problem).
Location
1
Generally well located — close to metro/buses and tourist areas and on quiet streets — although a few noted it's a short walk from the station.
Room Quality
1
Rooms described as spacious, comfortable beds and well appointed; minor negatives include a non-openable/obscured window and lack of a view for some rooms.
Amenities
1
Mixed to negative: hotel offers snacks, mini café and evening wine/sake which guests like, but lacks a full breakfast, has no public microwave for guests, and a washing machine payment issue was reported — overall amenities are limited for some needs.
Value for Money
1
Mixed sentiment: several reviewers call it great value (high CP ratio), but at least one guest notes recent price increases in Kyoto have harmed the value proposition — overall value is a notable pain point for some guests.
Food and Beverage
1
Limited F&B: appreciated small morning snacks, coffee and evening drinks, but absence of a proper breakfast and limited food options lowered satisfaction for some travelers.
Overall Experience
1
Overall very positive stays reported (would return, excellent staff and comfortable rooms), though amenities and value issues temper perfect scores for some guests.

Schönes, kleines Hotel. Saubere, neue Zimmer, hochwertige Ausstattung. Wenig Stauraum.
Pros:

Schöne Zimmer, alles neu und sauber. Ruhige, dennoch zentrale Lage. HIlfsbereites Personal. Gratis Kaffee und Tee sowie Erfrischungsgetränke den ganzen Tag.

Cons:

Really lovely place to stay
Pros:

Honestly the most comfortable beds we had in Japan. The Bathroom and double shower was awesome.. Hotel was quiet despite having an active festival right outside it. (which, if you are going to the Gion festival this is a great location to stay in)

Cons:

The window in the room could not open AND was frosted over. No milk substitutes for breakfast. toilet room was a bit cramped.

Location, decor, room size, cleanliness , staff attentiveness, bread for breakfast

Cons:

Paper thin walls, noise from all sides affecting sleep. Room was too cold. Laundry machines could be better.

Great place with minimalistic design
Pros:

Lovely minimal design. Complementary coffee and drinks. Position.

Cons:

Is missing just a gym and is a bit not understandable why they charge to keep the luggage if you keep it after 5

The perfect spot to stay in Kyoto
Pros:

This hotell is absolutely beautiful! Modern Japan meats Scandinavia. It’s small, intimate and comfortable and oh, so tastefully designed and decorated. Very comfortable beds. There are a lot of special services included. A saké in the evening followed by ramen as a late night snack. Patisserie’s and tea/coffee/juice in the morning. All included and served in a beautiful, almost serene lounge room with a view of the inner garden.
The hotel is situated in, what I have come to learn, the most optimal area in Kyoto for a tourist who appreciates calm and quiet as much as discovery, shopping and the real Kyoto. It’s quiet even though everything is within walking distance. The narrow streets surrounding the Kiori are residential mixed with small businesses and tiny restaurants. It’s cute and and you get to see everyday life around you. Not many tourists. If you walk 30 min in any direction from the hotel you will have to extend your iCloud with beautiful pics in no time.
The Kiori is the place I’m staying when I visit again.

Cons:

Make sure to pick rooms on the top floors or you won’t get a view.
