The location was wonderful. It was a short walk to the nearby train station (5 minutes or less depending on whether you're going for the Osaka loop line or the subway, which we used both), the local supermarket, places to exchange money, and had plenty of places to shop and eat with an Aeon Mall not far north. We especially loved Cake House Noel right next door where we bought a tasty birthday cake for one of our family members. The rooms were very comfortable and we liked that each one had its own temperature control. We had read reviews before arriving and highly appreciate the owner installing the sound blocking curtains. It muffled a lot of the sound aside from very loud ones like emergency vehicle sirens. Being in a city, we expected much louder so the addition helped tremendously and actually blocked some of the cold from outside (it was surprisingly nippy during our stay). Most of our members are heavy sleepers, so I would caution light sleepers to use the higher floors or still invest in sleeping aids. The amount and quality of amenities were surprisingly substantial. Whenever we wondered "Do we have...?", all we had to do was open a cupboard or drawer and it was there. Any questions or requests we had were quickly answered by the owner in a timely and professional manner.
Please keep in mind the below are very typical in Japan and aren't meant to be anything against the Guest House. It's meant to be informative for those who've never experienced Japanese buildings or housing before.
The stairs did a number on my knees and I found it easier to scale them in socks than the slippers provided, especially after a very long walking day. As others have mentioned, they are indeed very steep. Please take care, take them slow, and utilize the railings. They were a tremendous help especially when taking luggage up and down. I wish the last few steps by the slipper rack had a small railing added in. I would highly suggest assigning rooms to family members/guests according to their needs and ability to climb the stairs as we did. The 5th floor bedroom does have a sink (and a single gas stove? I assumed for rooftop parties or something. Late night ramen?) but not a bathroom. Due to circumstance, I had to move between two floors to use the bathroom which wasn't very fun despite the bedroom being very comfortable.
One other thing was the 2nd floor dryer. It doesn't dry loads very well like common Western dryers, so be highly aware of that and stick to the instructions on the machine or utilize the air drying racks. A thicker long sleeved shirt and jeans took longer than I wanted to dry even among lighter pieces. I'd suggest being really mindful of your loads or look for a coin laundry with more industrial dryers if it bothers you. The washer works perfectly fine.
Very good location!
You get the whole house for yourself which is big and spacious! Very rare find in Japan!
Well equipped with everything you need
Very steep stairs leading to the rooms, there were a good few areas that could have been cleaned better.
Very noisy at night, especially the first 2 floors, so if you're a light sleeper you'll need to go up
It’s close to everywhere, and as a blended family everyone has their own floor and it’s clean.
Last floor there’s no toilet or bathroom, you always have to go down. 4th floor there’s no sink or anything to put your toiletries. There’s no full size mirror everywhere. And it’s quite noisy. Everyone who slept on the 3rd & 4th floor need to use earplugs. You only sleep good on the last floor but you have no toilet. Also there’s only stairs.
Clean place with plenty of room for our family of 5. Sitting at the rooftop at night was a reprieve from the summer heat.
A caution if you're travelling with older people - each bedroom is up another flight of stairs. We got a good workout.
The guest house was really close to the train station, around 5-6 minutes walk. Everything was provided for, and all facilities were clean and tidy. There were 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms, and it worked out for us as there were 9 of us in our trip. The beds are big and can comfortably sleep a lot of people. A baby cot and a high chair were also provided and it was a big plus since we have a two year old with us.
The Japanese room with tatami mats was a really nice touch!
The room in the third floor was Japanese type so understandably, it didn’t have curtains. The sunrise time was early, I think before 5am, so it was too bright and you’re gonna be forced to wake up early. But if you’re an early riser, or don’t mind the bright sunlight, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Close to the train station for easy travel. Lots of really good restaurants on the street. Comfortable mattresses and pillows.
The bedrooms were LOUD and BRIGHT. You could hear motorcycles, ambulances, even people talking outside well past midnight. Only the top floor bedroom was good for sleeping.
very convenient and great space.
Absolutely great accommodation. Amazing communication, clean, great location. I definitely recommend :-)
