Location
Room cleanliness
Good location and quite a grand looking building.
The room was in need of renovation and seemed smaller than the pictures of the room on booking.com. For example the pictures showed that you could get into either side of the bed, but the bed in room 403 was pushed into the corner and was only accessible from one side. There was no room to move it to the centre. The carpet was stained and the door heavily scuffed with black marks. The bathroom shower rail was very rusty and the sealant at the bottom of the bath was scruffy. The paint on the frame of the bedside table was so chipped that I think there was more without paint than bits with paint! The hanging rail was directly above the kettle, thus if you had several clothes hanging up you couldn’t safely use the kettle! It was basically a student room, and there was nothing Grand about it. I’m sure there are nicer rooms at the hotel than this one.
Nothing.
This was without question the worst hotel experience I have ever had.
From the moment we arrived, everything about the stay was unacceptable. The room was in a shocking condition — mould on the walls, peeling paint and wallpaper, and a filthy fan covered in what appeared to be mud. The bathroom was equally appalling, with brown sludge coming up from the bath drain. Most disturbingly, there was a sticker still inside the duvet cover on the first night, strongly suggesting that the bed linen had not been properly changed or washed between guests.
The night itself was chaos. This is clearly a party hotel, not somewhere anyone should stay if they want to sleep. People were running up and down the hallways shouting, loud music was being played late into the night, and the fire alarm was set off repeatedly. It was impossible to rest and felt completely unsafe and unmanaged.
Customer service was equally poor. I spoke to the night manager, Fazu, who assured me that I would receive a refund and advised me to email a specific address to arrange this. Three weeks later, I have received no response whatsoever. I have chased multiple times, including calling the hotel directly, only to be told to email the same unresponsive address. No one replies. No one acknowledges the complaint. No action has been taken.
The hotel failed to provide even a basic standard of accommodation or service, and the complete lack of follow-up afterwards is unacceptable. If you are looking for somewhere clean, safe, or restful, stay anywhere else.
Avoid at all costs.
I liked the speedy checkout
The standard has dropped considerably since Mecure sold on. I booked a suite,
The window rattled all night, they have now even removed water from the fridge. This means that if you want to make coffee, you can do what i did, go out and buy water, or fill the kettle up with water from the bathroom. I wouldnt do this at home and i know 100% my cold water tap is mains fed. I cannot say the hotel tap is.
When I left my room and there was someone lying down in the passageway. I informed the staff who eventually went to deal with it, but when they had finished their conversation with each other. They were not in a hurry.
I went to the restaurant, the level of the music was more fitting for a night club than a hotel eatery.
I looked in at the food for breakfast. Cheap, greasy and I chose not to eat it.
Spacious room with comfy bed
The room was very dark mainly due to the dark green colour scheme
Great location, slightly quirky which I loved but could hear the neighbours not only talking but having a wee 🥴
Noise from the neighbours !
Good location
Very dated decor. Needs updating
Location and friendly staff
Mattress was old and lumpy. Broken bedside light. Towels were thin and very scratchy.
Location, historic, food
On arrival came across discarded wine bottle and food on the 3rd floor.
Lovely hotel with lots of character. Staff were helpful at all times. Very central to Bristol.
Shortage of staff at breakfast time. Tea and coffee machine not working for a while. Some guests went without tea or coffee as a result. No offer of boiling water in urns in the meantime.
Duvet covers were crunchy and not that soft.
TV display was very bright. Could benefit from reducing the resolutions on the settings. Tried, but could not turn the function down. Air con/heater was clicking on as and when needed but was a little noisy with clicking sounds every so often asnit osolated. I turned the switch off so it could not run.
Big room great location
Check out 11am wish 12
The bed was very comfortable
The decor appeared a little tired, marks and scuffs, old dirty windowframe, marks around tap bases, bath area. Very small room and quite noisy throughout the night with footsteps and loud voices up and down the corridoor. I chose this hotel over others as the website offered parking, but i do not recall it stating it being £19 for the night..
Location, decoration and vibe of the hotel
Bottles outside of my room which had been left from previous guest / they were still there when I left and checked out
Pillows were not very comfortable - choice would be nice
Location in central Bristol good
Tatty & tired in need of a upgrading
