Was very nice, close to Fota and other amenities
No fan or microwave in room
Reception staff were excellent
Room wasn't as clean as I expected
The room was spacious.
No restaurant available in the hotel, dinner was served in the bar.
It is a beautiful building that was spacious, comfortable and clean
No automatic door for wheelchairs
The staff here have been trained to give exceptional service. And the breakfast is generous and very nicely done.
Only thing we didn’t like were our pillows and we know that is subjective
Our room was spacious and comfortable, as were the beds and pillows. We are at the opposite end of the hotel to the reception which made it quiet. Breakfast was nice and all the staff were efficient and polite, if sometimes ran off their feet. The location is good, easy access to Fota. There was a wedding on so luckily we were put in the very end of the hotel away from it and the night was uneventful.
It was not a good value for money sadly. For 440 for 2 nights you should expect better than no places in the car park at 5pm on a Saturday (not because of church goers but because there was a big wedding on). No places are left for people paying for the night in the hotel which is not right and I never stayed in a 4 star hotel where you had to park on the road. The spa is a standard hotel gym open to the public, small pool, quite full, facilities not greatly signposted, I spent a good time looking for showers. At 10pm I found my bed was covered in a bedsheet which was about 10 inches too small (even if I redid it it would have been too small) and I had to bother the staff for a bigger sheet. Everyone was nice, but yet again not a 4 star standard. Second morning we were woken up at half seven by a fire alarm, no explanation on what happened.
Saturday night the bar was as busy Temple Bar, with huge TV's blaring a match and men screaming loudly at every scored point, not enough staff for that many people too. I got the drink to my liking and everyone was polite even when working this hard.
Overall, I would like to point out the hotel caters to locals mostly at weekends, not tourists, so if you are one don't expect a restful evening unless you stay in your room. I understand revenue streams so I get it, still doesn't make for a nice stay after a long day of sightseeing and definitely is not worth the money. I would not recommend it.
