Pros:

Kleines Hotel, famieliäres Gefühl, alle sehr freundlich,
Nicht weit zum Wasser, man hat das Meer rauschen hören.

Cons:

Etwas laut unter dem Fenster...besonders früh wochentags und laute Eletroladestation für Autos (besonders Nachts) wargenommen als Dauerpfeifton.

Parfait pour mes besoins
Pros:

Petit déjeuner parfait. Arrivée autonome de nuit très facile. Endroit très calme. Beau point de vue sur la mer et la montagne du balcon de la chambre. J’y retournerais sans hésitations.

Very enjoyable economical option
Pros:

Very enjoyable breakfast.
Machico had great express bus service into Funchal 45 min via airport for only around EUR2.60 which made Machico a very viable and less expensive accommodation option. Nice village atmosphere. Winter is a bit unpredictable. One year 26 degrees one year 14 degrees in Jan. Just need to be prepared.

Cons:

I was there first week January and it was cold and damp in my room. No heating available. I think I probably need to pay more and stay at 4 star place if visiting in winter. I hate cold and damp.

Great place to stay
Pros:

Location 2 blocks from bus. 1 block from beach. Great hike with views just short walk away. The staff was very accommodating. Variety of breakfast items, very nice. Merry all of our needs for a 3 night stay.

Wir haben das barrierefreie Zimmer für meine Schwiegermutti zum 91. Geburtstag gebucht.

Wie kennen das Hotel seit 12 Jahren und es ist ein kleines charmantes Hotel am Meer. Der Service ist hervorragend und man bekommt jede Hilfe, die man braucht. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und die Zimmer sehr sauber. Eine Überraschung gab es am Geburtstag mit einem extra gebacken Kuchen von Fatima, der Köchin 😋 Ganz lieben Dank für alles und wir sehen uns bald wieder 🤗 Grüße von Schwiegermutti Maritta 🙏

Disappointing
Pros:

The location is great, right by the beach, close to local supermarkets and shops. Staff were friendly and lots of suggestions on things to do around the island. Nice view from the balcony.

Cons:

We have stayed in Machico many times and always had the impression that The White Waters was a luxury boutique hotel so were very excited when we found a good deal to stay there. We've had family members stay there in the past and they were happy with the facilities. When we arrived they told us that we had been upgraded to the Superior Room, which was a pleasant surprise. However, we were very disappointed when we saw the condition of the room.

It had not been swept properly, there was dust and we found a toenail. The chair in the room had lots of stains and should be upholstered with material that can be easily wiped down. Both drawers on the side table could not close and the one was taped shut. Marks on the wall.

There wasn't a big breakfast selection. There was one day when we arrived an hour before breakfast ended, and most of the food was already gone. At no point did anybody came to check that there was enough food for other guests. Some of the fruit was off.

I would hate to know what the condition of a basic room must look like. Having won multiple awards many years ago, it is no longer the 3-star hotel that it once was. Overpriced for what we got. A message for the new management would be to improve the basics, a fresh lick of paint, fix broken furniture, replace the shower curtain with a shower screen, and improve the housekeeping. A nice addition would be like most hotels, even basic ones, to offer tea and coffee in the room.

Un séjour très agréable
Pros:

Emplacement idéal dans Machico, à 3 minutes à pieds de la plage, plusieurs restaurants dans le périmètre. L’ambiance des rues est calme et très plaisant pour y marcher. Le personnel de l’hôtel est très gentil, souriant et disponible. L’hôtel est propre et agréable

Pros:

Au centre de la cote Nord, beaucoup de rando à proximité. Ville de Sao Vincent juste à côté (pratique pour les courses).
Funchal à 30 mn selon la circulation. Rando les plus prisées de l'ile à environ 20 mn et max 40 mn.

Cons:

Logement refait récemment, tout est neuf. Très bien équipé. Machine à laver appréciable. Place de stationnement dédiée. Vue sur la mère. Troquet juste à côté.
