Great stay to celebrate my friends 40th birthday
Pros:

the breakfast was lovely, a buffet would of worked aswell, the location was lovely and I can't wait to come back in the summer to explore the grounds more.

Cons:

the only thing that could be better but I know it is a great expense would be a swimming pool facility

Pros:

The staff were brilliant!!pool area was lovely and not too busy..loved the conservatory!!

Cons:

Really really disappointed not staying in the house!!! website was very misleading!!!..I planned this trip as a 60th BD trip for me and my partner... thought it was a stay in a country house with beautiful gardens rather than a modern hotel/Convention hub 🙄.. very disappointing!!

Nice place but needs improving
Pros:

Lovely place, location and facilities seemed nice, although in fairness i didn’t use them all.

Quite upmarket restaurant and bar wise.

I would highly recommend for a couple break.

Cons:

Bed and pillows especially were super uncomfortable which was disappointing. Cobwebs hanging above the bed off the smoke detector. Not what you expect.

The hotel itself is like a rabbit warren so don’t have too many sherry’s at the bar! 🤣

£7 tray charge is a little steep for room service. Especially in conjunction with a high menu rate.

Very noisy from the early morning too as their handyman started to work on the hallway and other bedrooms.

Disappointing
Pros:

Staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons:

We arrived at approx 15:45 for check in and there was a very long que. We decided to go for a drive and return later, after dinner we returned quite late but checked in quickly. On arrival to our room, the room was very cold. I found the room to be very small and cold, making it very unwelcoming. I called reception and was informed to turn the radiator on but was told the central heating system has an automatic shut down time of 23:00. The standard room has a very small double bed but is clean.

Cons:

A vast sprawling hotel that is not depicted by the images of the ‘old house’.
Certainly not cozy as one might imagine.

My visit
Pros:

The place, garden, and surrounding area all seem very beautiful.

The swimming pool and sauna were very nice. I didn't have time for the spa, but I'll probably save it for next time.

Breakfast—self-service (buffet)—is always more comfortable than continental, and an extra hot one, for which you have to order from a menu.⁸

Cons:

The bed was a little too small for me and not stable, as it moved easily when I got into it.

Fantastic
Pros:

We stayed on Boxing day. (bit late reviewing sorry) Suite and bathroom was fantastic, bed comfy and room was clean. its a beautiful hotel in lovely grounds. We had dinner at Harry's bar and our party of five enjoyed their meals. service and staff were exceptional. Hotel also had lovely seasonal decorations - very festive. Just booked to return at Easter.

Cons:

For me personally, the breakfast buffet was limited for those of us that don't want a full cooked breakfast, but my husband ordered eggs and loved it. If you want a cooked breakfast the buffet looked good, all the usual items. Could not fault service or facilities. Plenty of dogs in the restaurant with other guests, but they were all well behaved and on leads so you couldn't tell they were there - quiet nice seeing cute dogs around.
