Pros:

スタッフの方の対応がとても良かったです。ロケーションもよく、朝食も素晴らしかったです。

Cons:

1階共有スペースは明るく読書も出来ますが、個人的には部屋でも読書灯なんかが使えるともっと良かった。

Clean, modern hotel made perfect by wonderful staff and brilliant vegan chef.
Pros:

Fantastically friendly and helpful staff, clean hotel with modern decor and good facilities plus superb vegan cuisine and bar food - all in a great location. It’s a wonderful place to stay in Kyoto.

Memorable stay in a trendy and welcoming hotel.
Pros:

Cute and trendy hotel in a great location. Loved the free sake and the breakfast was the best we have had in 3 months of travel. Great staff too!

Cons:

Rooms are a bit small but that’s Japan and also we went for the budget option.

L'angolo relax con degustazione Sake sempre disponibile, gentilezza del personale. Pulizia molto buona, letto comodo, e la decorazione della stanza 😊. Posizione buona. Rapporto qualità/prezzo ottimo.

Cons:

Colazione limitata a 5-6 scelte. Dimensione stanza veramente piccola com difficoltà ad aprire le valigie.
Temperatura della stanza: quando batte il sole il cado è esagerato, non potendo aprire le finestre si soffriva.

Good despite the lack of space in the room.

The hotel is well located, but I didn’t like the room

There’s a metro station about five minutes from the hotel, which is quite convenient when you arrive by train. The staff is also very friendly. They offer activities and even free sake at night, which is a real plus if you want to meet new people.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the main downside of this hotel is the room size. We were two people with the same amount of luggage, and the room felt very cluttered. We also had a loft bed, and I kept hitting my head on the ceiling, which is quite low.

As for the window, we couldn’t open it at all during our stay. Not that there was much to see — just a wall about 20 cm away — but it would have been nice to get some fresh air.

The hotel itself is nice, but just be aware of the room size.

So good we came back again on our second trip. No complaints, great experience
Pros:

2nd time at Imu Hotel, experience has been consistent - amazing. Fluent English speaking staff at reception, with check-in relatively simple. Hot/cold water machine on ground (a bit inconvenient that each floor doesn't have one) with coffee/tea. Free sake before midnight (albeit this has been moved to the rear seating area this visit, it's a bit cramped there). Good location near Shijo station and the main road where lots of restaurants/breakfast cafes are (within 10min walk).
Bunk room was great on both our stays (2024, 2026) - spacious enough to laydown and open 2x 81cm tall luggages, room size is relatively spacious to the standard 11-12m2 sized hotel rooms elsewhere. Great bathroom/toilet layout with wet/dry area separated. Room/bathroom/toilet/lobby were very clean; slight smell of smoke as there's a smoking room next to reception, but it's tucked away and the smell is very faint (we are sensitive to smoke smell, but we found it negligible). It was great they have a selection of soft/firm/normal pillows to select from, as that contributes to the great sleep we had on both occasions. There's multiple convenience stores within 10mins walk; a great lobby area with tables to sit and enjoy your drinks/food that other hotels do not provide (making you eat/drink in your small room) - we find this sets Imu Hotel apart and is a big perk.

Cons:

Small annoyance is the lack of water dispensers on each floor, it's only available in lobby. But that is negligible.
