Cons:

Not a problem at all, but by way of a "heads up": you need to like dogs (or at least be comfortable with them), including in the breakfast area. If you're a dog fan, or are travelling with one (or more!) it's great!

We loved the location and all of the extras the motel offers like the comfortable outdoor area/seating, free bicycles, free coffee & tea (even decaf!) and snacks available until 11pm in the office, the immaculately clean, modern, quiet room, the freshest-smelling towels and quality hair and skin products, and the friendly staff.

Best comfort, location, with reasonable pricing in Santa Barbara!
Pros:

Marina Beach Motel is a blast from the past with modern comforts. It opened in 1941 and cars are parked in front of your rooms. No pool, but the ambiance is comfortable and welcoming with such friendly staff. This family owned business takes pride in the little things: nice soaps and shampoo, an emergency light in the closet, reading and ambient lighting on both sides of the bed, lovely, fluffy towels, small fridge, coffee machine and microwave, bench and chair seating. The rooms are small, but very comfortable. The absolute best thing for me is the squeaky clean rooms. They take pride in keeping the rooms spotless. And because of their competitive pricing, they are full every night, so keeping the place so clean takes a lot of effort. Bravo to the owners! And it's only 1 block to the beach, and they offer free bikes to get there.

Cons:

Rooms are a bit small, but common of the era the motel was built. The breakfast offered is abundant but fairly standard. Lots of pastries, sugar loaded yogurt, bagels and hard boiled eggs. Bringing your own fresh fruit and/or sugar free food is a good idea.
