Very small room. Booked a superior delux. 2 people could not move at the same time. Booking description was 100 sq ft more than actual. Paid more than a similar room in NYC or Paris
Location and staff
Extremely small and uncomfortable room - no windows- heater/AC did not work - tepid water at bathroom sink, etc
I stayed at the Hippodrome hotel on a solo trip for a long weekend (Fri-Tues) to celebrate my 40th birthday and to become more acquainted with Mexico City. I prefer smaller boutique hotels that are not overwhelming and feel cozy yet private. This was the perfect place to be, off of a smaller street but walkable to several beautiful parks, restaurants, and anything you may need. The location was perfect. The room had a sitting area and a window facing out to the street, a good amount of space. Friday and Saturday night did have more noise than expected from the restaurants downstairs but nothing that couldn’t be shut out with earplugs (that they provide on the bedside) or noise cancelling headphones and usually calmed down before midnight. It was very clean and well stocked with water, coffee pods, and amenities. Housekeeping was super helpful in restocking waters and coffee pods, just ask! My biggest issue was the pillows being too thick and puffy (hurts my neck sleeping), I asked for flatter ones but got more of the same and just slept without. The other thing was the towels shed a lot of fibers that got stuck to the body and face. I had a lint roller so it was a minor inconvenience. They were nice and clean though. Lastly, I was welcomed at the front desk by Gisell and a gentleman with gray hair (never caught his name) who were both so friendly and helpful that it felt like I was at home. On my last evening, I was talking to Gisell about the main visit of my trip which was to see some of the art works of Remedios Varo and Leonora Carrington in person at the Museo de Arte Moderno. When I left that next morning, she had left a note under the door thanking me for my stay on a print of a Remedios Varo painting. It made my day! The staff really care about their hospitality and providing great service to the guests, as well as improving where they can. Thank you for making my first real stay in Mexico City so memorable.
The hotel is fabulous with a great location and wonderfully comfortable rooms. The room we stayed in had a balcony and was very roomy. Antoine Kourdi, the manager is quite wonderful and has procured tickets for the Barragàn House, a major feat since they were sold out months in advance. He also arranged a dinner for my partner’s birthday at Lardo, which was amazing! He goes above and beyond to make sure guests are happy. I learned he will no longer be with the Hippodrome which saddens me. I told him wherever he lands that will be my new hotel in Mexico City. The hotel is loosing a fantastic manager.
We had a very nice stay at the Hippodrome Hotel with a beautiful art deco exterior and just steps from Parque de Mexico. The location is fantastic, near countless restaurants and cafés at the heart of the beautiful Condessa/Hippodromo neighborhood.
Our room had a king bed and was recently renovated with a nice view of the tree-lined street below.
A special thanks to Giselle for all her help and smiles during our weeklong stay!
Best hotel in Mexico City! I had a great time in my last visit thanks to this hotel, the staff was friendly and helpful specially the manager Antoine who helped us to book 3 restaurants and 2 activities, my husband was delighted because he speaks Arabic so was very helpful for us, his hospitality was outstanding. The area also is very nice and well located. Very good option for Mexico .
The service here was amazing. The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating when we had a problem with our previous stay. They were very helpful with offering to take our bags during check in and check out and had free snacks! The room was clean and is just recently remodeled! Highly recommend staying here. It’s right in the center of Condesa. We will be back!
The location was excellent. The staff were great.
The price was a little high for the room size.
Staff are lovely
Overpriced for what it is. Room was small and pretty brown and soulless. Bed was comfy but I would rather rent an Airbnb…
Hipódromo is a good location, equidistant between the hearts of Condesa and Roma and with a bit of character itself. We loved Odette bakery nearby, and taking a paseo (walk) around Avenida Amsterdam in the evenings. Quiasmo is the rare properly good coffee spot in CDMX. And Tortas Al Fuego was 👌
The staff at the Hippodrome was lovely. Usually it was just one person at reception and then an owner (?) or manager who would be hanging out in the lobby. The receptionists spoke varying levels of English but we made it work with my broken Spanish and Google Translate. The housekeepers were lovely and friendly, too.
We took the penthouse balcony suite. The room was still pretty small. As another reviewer has noted, it is really a shared balcony with the other suite. That didn’t bother us, but it might depending on your attitude toward privacy and security. I did worry about all the mirrors in the room. We felt a couple of small earthquakes while we were there, which made me wonder how those mirrors would respond in the big one. We also wondered about air filtration. Pollution was okay while we were there, but seemed as bad in the room as outside. If you’re sensitive to pollution, you might give this place a pass. We would probably AirBnb it next time, as staying at such a small hotel didn’t feel very different from an AirBnb would have. But I couldn’t help rooting for these nice people to succeed.
Did not try
Nothing
location and staff are very good. staff were flexible with late chgeck out
there is no breakfast. they give you a voucher to go to a good place across the street but you are better off paying for breakfast there on your own,, internet was frequently down. ba careful stepping out of elevator as it opens to stairwell. Minimal room for luggage
The bed was so comfortable!!! The staff were very kind. The location is unbeatable. The gym passes were very appreciated!
We loved it
Beautiful small hotel right off Parque Mexico in Condesa. Had to book it last minute after a disaster at a rental apartment, and was thrilled in every way - the location, the property, the front desk staff, the room. Saved my birthday weekend.
A little street noise but the fantastic staff helped me move to a quieter room. They were extremely generous and helpful.
