The room could of been cleaner

We had downloaded the dinner menu before booking only to find only one vegetarian meal listed on that menu was available The"Cauliflower Curry".When served it was meager by portion, undercooked, underheated and broadly unpalatable. The alternatives offered on the second night were a vegetable chilli or a three egg omelet I chose the latter which though adequately hot was again very meager by content and thus we were obliged to drive to the motorway services to buy additional food. The third night we decided to avoid disappointment and eat at a restaurant in the village. We booked for three nights but our room was not serviced from day one to our departure. When we arrived, albeit we had paid for our room in advance we were asked to pay forward the sum of £50 . This we presumed was in expectation of bar bills and/or or other sundries. NOT SO ! On departure we were presented with our restaurant and bar bill, expecting only to pay the difference between the food and beverage total and the £50 paid forward.
NOT SO ! We were required to pay the total of the bar and food bill and also accept an unconfirmed verbal assurance that the £50 we had paid over (now referred to as a security deposit) would be returned through the banking system at some indetermined date . As a couple we have an average age of 86 years, with no predilection toward vandalism, criminality or disruptive behaviour. Further our £53.000 motor car was parked in the disabled ( Blue Badge ) bay directly outside the Hotels Reception. so no opportunity to filch the fixtures and furniture unseen. . Should we presume that the guest demographic this Hotel wishes to attract is of the kind that might steal the towels ? We have stayed in hotels from Russia to Brazil from Kenya to Malaya and beyond . Regrettably experience proves that UK hotels what-so-ever their star rating offer the lowest possible standard of customer service, and this hotel is no exception. So Sad !. Because So Near !

Das Badezimmer ist in die Jahre gekommen. Es hat stark aus dem Waschbecken gerochen. Die Toilette war nicht sauber und die Spülung funktionierte nicht richtig. Außerdem war der Kissenbezug schmutzig. Aber da wir nur auf der Durchreise waren und eine Übernachtung brauchten, war das Hotel für unsere Zwecke völlig in Ordnung.

The food selection for our stay and play was a very small selection and to be honest the food was awful not a great way to spend our wedding anniversary evening with you guys
