Close to Kyoto station, clean and cozy!
Pros:

The location is great and the entrance is fascinating!
Check in and check out are made with a machine, so it is quite easy and fast. If you need assistance, there are also stuff to help nearby.
At the afternoon there are workshops, which we found interesting.
You could have a snack/afternoon sweets at the other Richmond hotel too (close to the city center) - good opportunity to relax while you are in this area.

Cons:

We are mostly choosing hotels with breakfast, but here you need to reserve and pay at place. And I haven't supposed that our wish could be rejected?! And this was not the main point, but the way that the inability was explained to us, could be considered as rude compared to the japanese politeness in general. So for New Year - there was no breakfast for us... Not the beginning of the year that we wished.

Excellent choice centrally located near Kyoto station
Pros:

Centrally located near the station for easy access to transport options. Very clean, attentive service, large room size and extras such as the social hour in the evening.
