The Historic Inns of Annapolis have a distinct uniqueness in their history and lack of mainstream hotel feel. The location was close to the water and walkable to many shops and downtown Annapolis. They accepted pets, which I appreciated. The inside was unique and I enjoyed it, as someone who does not prefer chain hotels and prefers history and creativity over modernism and lack of uniqueness. The bathroom was tiny but the shower was updated and clean.
The room was TINY, the floor was slanted, the bed was a double (which is not great for 2 people) and not excessively comfortable, the pet fee was ASTRONOMICAL ($200!!) and was not told to me in advance. I was thinking maybe $35/ night for a small, 15 pound, hypoallergenic, clean, house-trained dog. TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS was outrageous- but I drove 4 hours to get there for a funeral, so I had to paid it. The floor was carpeted which is always a no no for me in hotels. Zero counter space in the bathroom- pedestal sink. I was hoping there would be some upgrades that kept up with modern day conveniences (like a counter in the bathroom, comfortable mattress, hard floors, and straight floors so I wasn't falling to the side when I walked across the room) but also kept the unique history. This was not the case. Best for a single person who is not too picky and enjoys the quirks (this would have been better if I was on my own), and don't bring a pet unless you basically want to double your cost.
The location, the comfy bed, tea in the morning
The noisy AC, the shower ( we could not get the water to run and asked for help. It turned out we needed to really yank the plastic dial) One light did not work and one morning there was a cockroach in the bathroom
It was in the middle of everything down town! And it has a ton of history and character.
The elevators smelled and made noises when going up and down, and we had someone walk in the room we didn't hear knock when in the shower. But the rest of the stay was absolutely amazing !!
This was our 10th stay at the Historic Inns. We have always had a very positive experience, thus 10 stays. I don’t know what has happened to management/ownership. Upon check in we had a question about valet and were promptly told it is an independent company. Very snippy response. Then after giving the key were told that they were in the process of fixing the elevator. We were on the 4th floor. We’re also told that if we need help with luggage to ask valet. Curious that they distance themselves with valet a minute earlier. No one working on the elevator in the Maryland Inn. No hotel staff there either. Paint trays in the hallway, found a puddle of dried paint in our shower, coffee maker had old water in it and was cold when we ran it to drain it, then water shot out the top when refilled. Tv was awful, washed out picture. We had numerous random charges on our credit card, that was resolved. They charge extra to use a credit card but don’t take cash or checks. We are still trying to get an itemized invoice for our stay. Elevator was never fixed. It would make sense that you would offer to change our room to a lower floor being we are in our 70s. Staff should have been on site to assist. On the upside, we met some awesome guests that were having a wedding there.
Needless to say, this was our last stay here.
Wonderful stay. Walking distance to all downtown sights.
We booked this property for our 18 year old daughter who was visiting her boyfriend at the US Naval Academy. On Google Maps, it seemed to be the closest hotel that she could stay at within walking distance of USNA. Unlike Hyatt and Marriott hotels, they were willing to accept someone who would be staying there under 21 years of age but still legally an adult. They were great with communication via Booking.com and texting me. She has now stayed there twice and due to flights, had to fly in well after 11 PM. The hotel has always been more than gracious and very accommodating.
One time it was quite pricy, but I think that's because it was a game weekend or holiday weekend.
The room was unbelievably dark, to the extant that I had to use a flashlight to find outlets and light switches.
The vent in the bathroom was coated in dust at least 1/2 inch thick.
The location of the hotel is amazing! However, our room only had one tiny window which overlooked an interior "courtyard." No view at all which was disappointing.
There was nowhere to store or open luggage. The room needed a luggage stand—also, a proper lounge chair, not a desk chair. The bottled water provided was insufficient at only 4oz. Additionally, a continental breakfast should be offered!! And the staff did not tell us where to find coffee in the morning; we stumbled upon an urn in one of the side rooms on our way to the front door to drop off our keys.
Convenient to town, shopping and restaurants. all walkable
Room was tight, but was clean and comfortable
clean, polite staff. Lively rooms.
parking
Location. Bar downstairs
Bed was a bit hard!
Best place to stay in Annapolis!!! We have stayed at two of the three buildings and plan to stay in the third next visit. Always clean. Staff is friendly and have great recommendations for restaurant options. Beautiful buildings rich in history. The perfect quiet retreat after a day out and about in the states capital. A little more than I would like to spend, but it’s located right in the heart of everything so it is worth it. We keep going back!
Great location and such an interesting historic hotel.
We’ve stayed here twice and both times had fire alarm evacuations. Apparently that’s unusual so we will definitely stay here again.
