Good balance of traditional look, but with western feel.
Pros:

The room had a nice seating area, far more impressive than other Mimaru hotels we've stayed at. A very small, but relevant to my kids' experience is their Gatcha prizes for completing tasks. Cute sushi looking erasers.

Cons:

It was on the outskirts of the Kyoto tourist action.

The room design was good, especially for a family of four.

Cons:

The position of the air conditioner. The cold air was blowing straight into the main beds. Also the insulation in the walls did not provide enough soundproof, especially around the bathroom, so we could hear the showers loudly in the bedroom. I think if the management could improve these things, the comfort level would increase a lot.

Pros:

We stayed in the Pokémon room. Was great and an amazing menory for the kids.

We loved the gatcha bingo card too. Got the kids excited about going to the destinations rather than feeling like we were dragging them to it.
