Staff were wonderful and the hotel itself is beautiful. Great location and very comfortable stay. Complimentary bottle of bubbles, chocolates and drams in our room were a brilliant touch.
Excellent breakfast and lovely appointed hotel
Only 1 small lift for customers and staff so wait times were long.
Room not cleaned first day until after 4 when we were back getting ready to go out for the evening.
Nothing
Their attitude to our travel disruptions were deplorable and nothing short of profiteering from a situation no one had any control over. A stain on Edinburgh
Excellent location, service and room. Highly recommend.
The beds were so very comfortable. The room was awesome and I felt like I was in a castle. Everyone was so helpful all the staff very friendly and helpful with no hesitation.
The first room we had the first night was near an elevator being reconstructed, but they moved us the next day at no extra charge to a fabulous room and we couldn't have been happier. So I can't really say there's anything I don't like about the property.
Rooms are lovely
Only 1 lift which is used by staff AND guests and simply doesn’t have the capacity to cope
Bar in hotel not owned/run by hotel and closes at night. Really not what you expect at this class of hotel
Beautiful historic hotel
Despite clearly having been renovated, there are quite a few visible signs of wear and tear. The lift was very old and sounded like the tardis, loud and concerning like it was about to fall apart at any minute.
Took the stairs instead, which there are a LOT of
Location, room size, shower, decent breakfast
Only 1 lift working currently due to works
The hotel far exceeded my expectations. The room was amazing, comfortable and elegant. Great amenities. The staff were all superb, always doing extra to make sure we were getting what we needed. Breakfast was outstanding, particularly appreciated the full range of non-milk creamers for coffee/tea, which is often not available even in high end hotels. The lounge off from reception was a great place to get a drink and snack.
Our first impression of the hotel was crossing from the train station to the back door. It is a bit sketchy looking down there and had me slightly worried; fortunately when we rang the bell we were immediately greeted and let in, but its a bit of an odd start to an otherwise elegant hotel.
In the bathroom there are no hooks for robes/bags/towels, and no wastebin- slightly annoying.
