Ideal short break in York
Pros:

Great hotel, friendly staff, food was excellent at all our meals, hotel is clean & tidy, beds were super comfy and helped with a great night's sleep. Hotel location on the riverside is ideal for exploring York.

Cons:

There was a coach party of OAP's resident while we were there which dominated the dining room and the lounge area - was not as relaxing as previous visits but was bearable, given that's the type of hotel party they have nowadays. Won't put us off going again.

Yorks perfect location
Pros:

The staff were lovely and very helpful, the location is fantastic

Cons:

We would have liked a room with a view over the river, unfortunately we were given a room on the ground floor and on the main road which at times can be very noisy ,I think the beds could do with updating they are semi comfy and the pillows need changing they are way to flat.

Enjoyable apart from above
Pros:

Central location
Great breakfast

Cons:

Miserable looking young man at breakfast - both mornings , no hello / smile -also asked us to go into lounge at 10.05 - we where just finished anyway but this was presumably so staff could eat breakfast in back area of dining room . Another couple in front area remained .
Bathrooms need updating / attention to detail - plug hole rusty / silicone around bath mouldy / area at back of tap in shower dirty .
Mattress has lump half way down .

Terrible. Staff do not deal with serious issues.
Pros:

The room was spacious and the amenities were good. The bar was comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful initially.

Cons:

On the second night of our stay, 31 March 2026, there were two significant disturbances during the night, which staff did not address. This led to a very disturbed night of almost no sleep. This affected everyone in the hotel and could not possibly have gone unnoticed by staff. At around 1.30am a child was screaming and a man was shouting at the child, this went on for over an hour. At around 4am a male guest, who we had the misfortune to be next door to, arrived back at the hotel and began ‘banging’ on his door and shouting for his partner. It was that loud I panicked, presuming that it had to be a bad fire or a terrorist attack for that level of noise and hysteria. This also went on for around an hour. It completely ruined our visit and the following morning we had a 60 mile drive, with no sleep. The staff were negligible in dealing with these incidents. Other people in the hotel said they were similarly affected and had not slept. The receptionist simply said ‘I’m sorry to hear that’ when I told her about it. Very disappointing stay. Up until that night I would have returned to the hotel. I wouldn’t now.
