Great location, very friendly and helpful staff.
Room 8 - no shower or, hair washing facility despite being a very nice bathroom.
Location brilliant, breakfast excellent.
Lack of air conditioning
Receptionist friendly and knowledgeable, the barmaid went beyond expectations in hospitality.
The chef who cooked our meal on Wednesday night deserves a medal not just the quality of food and freshness of the salad, really crisp and crunchy but for working at all in extreme heat.
Enamel bath was chipped and shower curtain wasn't really clean.
I understand that the temperature was really high and an old building, so in future I'll be looking for accommodation with air conditioning
Location
It was very hot and couldn’t open the windows enough to make a difference
The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the man on reception.I dont know his name but he really works hard in all areas of the hotel. The room was good and bed very comfortable.I do think the bathroom needs updating, especially with the cost of the room not being cheap. The location is brilliant, right near the Quay and not far to the shops snd restaurants.Breakfast was very very good!
The bathroom is very tired and needs updating.
Our room was over the pub and it was a lot of fun to stay over a pub. It overlooked the high street and that was fun. It was fun to go down to the pub and have a drink and food and then take our beverages upstairs to our room. We watched half of a world cup game in the pub then went upstairs to watch the rest and that was a lot of fun. The room was really large and that was great also.
The only thing was that they had made up the couch into a bed along with our bed and that didn't make sense since there were only two of us. But we just closed it up back into a couch and it was fine.
All 4 staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful
Fabulous location for ferry - easy 20 minute walk with luggage
Food good
Rooms rather tired
Good sized room
Great breakfast with very friendly staff
Bar staff could have been a little friendlier
Stayed here 5 years ago, and this was our 3rd visit to The Antelope Hotel in Poole in June 2026. Great location on High Street. Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. Great sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble. We arrived early and were able to leave our luggage at reception until our room was ready. Also Great breakfast served, scrambled egg with salmon on sour dough with lemon and dill.
This was our 3rd Visit to this Hotel. A car park used previously was no longe available so we had to use The Quay Carpark which was a nightmare as it is not suitable for larger cars. Lots of damage on the walls and parking bays were tight. However we proceeded to Hotel. The letter P was missing from the front name of hotel. we were also disappointed on entering the hotel, as it looked tired and delapidated. Our room No. 14, looked comfortable but on closer inspection it was not up to previous standards. Curtain hooks were not attached to the curtains so didn't hang very well. The bathroom needed a complete renovation. Bath was damaged with hole in bath enamel. Tile grouting was black with mould. Hot water tap operated opposite direction to normal. Everything seemed to look dusty or dirty. Downstairs, seats around the bar area were either damaged or dirty with stains or torn material on the arms. Rattan table edgings were spli and rough. However this never impacted our enjoyment over the weekend which was The Harry Paye Day Parade.
Breakfast was good with great choice, room was comfortable and clean, staff are friendly and efficient.
Good location with good bar and restaurant plus good outside area. An old property with lots of character.
Breakfast was good. Location was excellent.
Room was a little dark and tired, but overall everything worked .
Location
Walls between bedrooms thin. You could hear every word that someone said in the room next door
Friendly staff and great location
Good Location.
Bed was very old and uncomfortable. Bathroom needs some attention.
