the property is so cute and cozy, it feels like you’re in a small little town away from the world but you’re actually close to everything
Breakfast and lunch at nearby cafe was excellent.
Staff were very helpful.
A very good hotel but not very easy to find without a car.
Limited dining options in evening without a car.
Location was very convenient to UVA campus and hospital. Rooms were comfortable, clean, and spacious. Staff was exceptional. Nice bar and light bites on site.
No refrigerator in room.
Location so close to UVA
Charming Inn with comfortable bed and amazing views. Soaking tub was a plus with a lovely view of the pool area. Staff was friendly and attentive. Parking was not ideal, but plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
Valet was basically them parking your vehicle on the street. Don't plan on using your car while you stay.
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. Room was spacious. Liked the feeling of the hotel being more intimate than a larger chain hotel. Loved the pool and poolside drinks.
Mandatory valet parking was annoying, especially since the cars are parked in a parking lot right on the property.
The proximity to UVA
The doors were frustrating.
Yes. Breakfast was very good.
Everything!
Nothing! Everything was great!
The overall look was lovely and like the concept of loads of little apartments in site
When we arrived there were a few things happening out in the street and in the reception area at same time, there was only one staff member on the desk with a trainee (2nd day in the job), so check- in all felt a bit rushed.
We were allocated a room above the cafe so had to drive back out of the complex and around the block to get to our building, which meant we had to park in an undesignated area to unload our car - valet parking took a while to move the car from an area that we should not have been parked in.
Access to the room was through the (then) closed cafe - the stairs leading up to the room from the cafe were very narrow for a car load of luggage!
I had also contacted the hotel back in April to request a bottle of champagne to be in the room on arrival - my husband and I were celebrating our 25 wedding anniversary - I had received confirmation that this would be arranged - it was not which was disappointing.
We were also woken just before 7am the next morning by the cafe staff setting up to open that morning!
Excellent location! Very friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were stylishly decorated. The property layout was beautiful with views of multi-level architectural features. The rooms were spotless despite being old buildings.
It was somewhat loud from traffic but expected in the city.
At the time of booking, we requested a baby crib and the hotel confirmed that one would be provided.
We arrived at the hotel late at night with our baby asleep, and when we entered the room there was no crib installed. Instead, they showed us a baby walker toy and told us that was the crib. They also told us that Housekeeping had supposedly taken care of setting it up.
That same night, they assured us the issue would be resolved, but not only did they fail to do so, when we later spoke with the assistant manager she claimed that I had sent the request through Booking.com and that they do not see those messages. As a result, I had to sleep on the floor so that my baby could sleep safely in the bed.
The following day, the hotel manager called us to admit that they had in fact received our message, but that they had run out of cribs. They went out to buy one that same day and left it in our room still inside the box, expecting us to assemble it ourselves.
Our compensation for the inconvenience: a $40 breakfast credit.
Room rate: US$1,200 per night.
This was the worst hotel experience of my life — and I have been traveling for 40 years and work in the hotel industry myself.
