Ok for one night but overpriced for the facilities
Pros:

Good location for Blenheim
Parking around the back was plentiful when we went even though it was Saturday
Good range of breakfast options

Cons:

Our room was at the top of a narrow staircase and doors so it particularly accessible if you have mobility issues. The mattress was very uncomfortable and we had to move the bed over as it was placed under a very low beam.

We enjoyed our stay, we love old buildings so felt very at home.
Pros:

Very central to centre of Woodstock. Room clean, fridge and coffee machine in the room.

Cons:

The two sash windows in the room were not clean, residue of stickers on the glass and as we opened the windows all the time we were there the window sills very dirty too. I did inform the lady on the reception when we left/checked out so they are aware of this so will hopefully have this cleaning completed for the next guests.
Menu choice very limited for a 4* hotel.

Lovely central character hotel. Spacious, cosy rooms and friendly staff
Pros:

Super location right in the town centre. Plenty of parking and reasonable at £5 for 24 hours. Nice Old Worlde hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a good size, very clean, comfortable and warm. Lovely big bathroom with good toiletries & robes. Evening meal was tasty and a good selection on the menu.
There was a little disruption outside the bar - no fault of the hotel - and quickly over but the manager offered us free drinks straight away to compensate which we thought was a nice touch

Cons:

Although the bedroom was warm and cosy the bar and restaurant area were really cold. The barman told us that they usually have an open fire but that they had run out of wood! It did spoil our enjoyment of those areas a little and made us decide to skip dessert!
I would prefer a phone in the room - when we realised there was only one Breakfast tea bag and two milks you couldn't call housekeeping or reception. I tried ringing the hotel on my mobile but no answer so in the end my friend had to go down in her robe and slippers to reception - not ideal.

High price very poor quality - lost its way
Pros:

Have used Macdonald hotels before - this one has been let go - way overpriced for the quality of the place. Stayed for 2 nights (December 2025) - first night arrived late to room notice smell of drains and ridiculously hot bedroom even with all radiators off. Discovered the shower waste trap was broken - a bodged repair they had carried out. Heat was from a 3 inch main deliver pipe running behind the bed. Very bad night. Manager refunded the night - he knew the room was rubbish but let it anyway as perhaps I would no complain. Really bad set up - do not use!! On the up side some great restaurants in Woodstock - not The Bear!

Our stay was very enjoyable, we would stay here again.
Pros:

We enjoyed the room, the breakfast buffet was excellent. The location was wonderful.

Cons:

We arrived midafternoon, too late for lunch. It would have been nice to have soup of sandwiches available in the bar area.

Nice, Great to welcome our dog.
Pros:

Friendly helpful staff. Great location. Dog friendly.

Cons:

Bar was cold despite a log fire that wasn't throwing out much heat. No curtains added to the cold atmosphere in the bar.
Our room was on the small side.
