Keliki - hidden away paradise. Very quiet and chilled
Pros:

We arrived late evening at Keliki but our driver from the airport stopped enroute for us to buy food. The room was lovely with its own pool and the sounds of the frogs and crickets serenading us was truly tropical. The views from the dining room across the valley of palm trees and lush vegetation is spectacular. The hotel is surrounded by paddy fields which are super picturesque. We spent a couple of afternoons around the main pool by the dining room as there was more air circulation than in our courtyard where is could get super hot. The staff were very helpful and the hotels driver was very lovely and nothing was too much trouble for him. He was a star and he drove us for 3 trips and was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Awesome place
Pros:

GORGEOUS property and AMAZING rooms. The staff is top notch and very attentive. The food is fantastic. The spa is exceptional. We did a 60 minute massage and it far exceeded the fancy resorts Ive been to in the US. The hotel is out in the countryside, which is amazing if you want a peaceful place to stay in Bali.

Pros:

Ive read some fairly negative reviews of this property, and we experienced none of those issues. The staff is AMAZING. They were extremely friendly and very professional. Our room accommodations were beyond our expectations. Everything was clean and pristine. While at the property we enjoyed a couples massage, which was absolutely fantastic. If you are looking for a quiet place to get away from busy Ubud, not concerned with shopping and venturing off property, Keliki Luxury Lodge is a wonderful place.

Pros:

The stay was awesome and the staff and the manager were welcoming and they upgraded us to the private villa Rama and Sita which was amazing as the kids enjoyed the pool and we enjoyed the privacy and the view on the jungle!

Beautiful relaxing stay with great food
Pros:

I was so concerned about the recent negative reviews here that I tried to change hotels before coming but I needn’t have worried.

The lodge is beautiful. We arrived at night to see reception lit up and the room was huge with mosquito nets and a secluded pool.

Having read the reviews I kept the doors closed so the room wouldn’t be filled with insects or but I never needed to use the nets and the room was clean and well designed. It rained for the first couple of days in our stay but there wasn’t any musty smell in the room.

The food is really good, the breakfasts in particular are excellent. We stayed for a 5 days so my only criticism is that the menu was alittle limited for that long.
The staff were charming and I would definitely recommend this place.

After long days exploring Ubud, it was great to come back to a relaxing and scenic base. The perfect start to my first Bali trip.

Pros:

Definitely NOT 5 star and definitely NOT luxury.

The only thing 5 star was the price we paid to stay (and leave early forfeiting paid for accomodation -considered abetter option than a dud holiday). I would say it is a 3 star guest house/ b&b, at best. The room was dated, old, poor condition, noticeably moldy and smelt, (yes I have stayed in tropical locations before - this was different). We all got itchy throats and coughed all night and I was worried about my asthmatic daughter. Towels, toilet paper felt consistently damp, despite AC.
Private pool looked grimy - I didn’t want to swim in it. Communal pool, whilst lovely outlook to jungle was small (like a home plunge pool) stuck on the side of the breakfast bar area - not somewhere you’d want to hang out at.
Not a pleasant vibe or atmosphere. Went for dinner at 7pm, had to wander round for 10 minutes trying to find anyone to see if it was open.
Solid 25-30 minute drive into Ubud. No hotel shuttle.
Rural Bali setting - but not particularly picturesque - down a shared driveway with local houses & roosters crowing; nor private or remote.

Rarely do I feel compelled to write such a comprehensive and disparaging review but feel utterly ripped off such a disappointment given all the beautiful and charming accomodation options (across all budgets/ property classes) in Ubud. Struggle to believe the favourable reviews (a factor in choosing this) are “arm’s length, paying guests”. And the online photos are extremely flattering.

Hugely disappointing, NOT Five star

Positive -
- Yes set in a rural Bali setting, however not particularly picturesque, and not private or remote - down a drive with local houses all around and roosters crowing.
- The restaurant area looked nice/ had promise - but lacked any atmosphere or people. Went for dinner at 7pm one night and had to wander round for 10 minutes to try and find anyone to see if it was open.
- Breakfast - fine, unremarkable
- The 4 Balinese staff we encountered over our stay were lovely but all seemed terrified of “The Director”, a French lady that ran the place.

Negatives -
- Dated room, felt old - Definitely not 5 star.
- That aside, didn’t feel particularly clean. As above, moldy & smelly. Towels, toilet paper consistently felt damp despite AC. Only had two bath towels the whole time despite 4 of us staying so we shared - so many little things like that, that alone wouldn’t worry about but combined, added up to an average experience.
- Remote, with no eating/ shops remotely close. Ubud was a solid 30 minute drive away in traffic. Thank goodness I had the Grab app otherwise wouldn’t have known what to do (no hotel shuttle etc).
This wouldn’t have mattered so much if the hotel facilities were better - the communal pool, small, stuck on the side of the breakfast bar, simply was not somewhere you would want to hang out by.
- gym - what gym? 4 machines & it was getting painted.
- jacuzzi was cold.

In summary one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I can recall - we checked out a day earlier to move somewhere far nicer for half the price. Had wanted to do this earlier, but couldn’t bring myself to forfeit 4 nights accomodation at 6000.k idr per night.

Scam operation with a place that’s priced same as a luxury hotel but with nothing of luxury in it!
Pros:

Horrible place that’s not even worth 1 star being falsely advertised as 5 star. It’s a scam with digitally enhanced pictures that are far from reality!! We are one such victims where we saw the pictures and square footage was 4700+ sqft online. In reality when we went there the room smelled heavily of mold. The manager refused to cancel our booking or refund even though we mentioned the health hazard it could have on our small children. Everything was coming apart. Nothing inside the room works and management already knows and tries to cover up.

Pros:

Unhygienic Mold filled and small rooms masquerading and priced like a luxurious 5-star hotel.

Beware before booking, the management won’t cancel. They run a scam operation.

And do diligence, don’t follow the 5-star reviews in most places. They are from friends and family. Real guests are generally disappointed. Pictures are digitally enhanced and consist props.

Property is 2-years old but built cheap and is falling apart.

Not worth your money
Pros:

Although the manager asked us not to write a bad review, we feel compelled to share our experience. We lost several hundreds dollars and one precious day of our honeymoon, and instead endured a day and night with headaches, itchy throats, and noses. Consequently, we chose to leave the Keliki "luxury" lodge and booked a 4-star hotel that truly deserved a 5-star rating.

Upon our arrival at Keliki, I immediately sensed mold and identified indicators within two minutes. Due to my physical reaction, we requested another room. The initial response was dismissive: "This is how it is to stay in the jungle," "All the rooms are the same," and "There’s nothing wrong." This was despite the fact that our previous hotel, also located in the jungle, did not have these issues. When I showed the manager photos of the mold, she promptly sent staff to change the mosquito net and clean the clogged dehumidifier filter. I appreciate that the manager took our complaint seriously after seeing the photos.

Given that our booking was non-refundable, we decided to give it a chance, looking forward to the delicious food advertised by the hotel. Unfortunately, there was no staff present at the pool bar, so we ordered room service. The pictures we took speak for themselves. Although the manager herself served the food to our lodge, the trays were never collected and remained there the next morning. We had hoped for a better dining experience, but only the prices matched fine dining, not the quality. We were informed that there was no à la carte fine dining, only a three-course dinner or a romantic dinner setup available with one day's notice.

Waking up the next morning with severe headaches, we were offered a breakfast that was comparable to what you might expect at a gas station. We decided to check out early, prioritizing our honeymoon experience over the money lost. It’s important to note that the lodge felt understaffed, the food was incredibly bad, and overall, it felt more like a deserted place than a luxury lodge.

The worst place I have ever stayed, I am not exaggerating!
Pros:

We chose to stay here as it was my 30th birthday and wanted somewhere luxury, where we are catered to & with beautiful food & beautiful clean rooms. All the majority of the reviews and all the photos looked great, I was so so excited to be here for such a special birthday!
Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed and even on arrival things were already not looking good. I used the lobby toilet on arrival & the basin inside quite literally had yellow algae growing inside, I don’t think the toilet basin had been cleaned for months 🤢 We then got into the golf buggy with all our bags and were taken close to our room, on the very first corner the driver crashed the buggy into the wall, and both mine and my partners knees jolted into the bars in front, (which hurt a lot!) and the driver didn’t even apologise and laughed it off.
We get into the room and at first glance it did look fine, but once we had a look around we could see how unclean it was… the toilet basin once again had dirty stain marks and a rim of dirt around where the water sits, the iPad was covered in sticky dust, the outside bath was yellow and very unclean as was the outside shower & the floor was unswept, the mosquito nets were all COVERED with flies and dirt all around the base that skims the floor, the holders which had the complimentary tooth brushes and tooth picks were thick with mould & the tooth pick inside was disgusting, the paper packaging was dirty and I don’t want to know how long it had been there! When we got into bed, the view above was yellow / orange stains of which I assume to be dead flies. The pool had a layer of dirt and the pool beds were not clean.
My partner spoke to the “director” about the cleanliness of the luxury lodge who was extremely rude, obnoxious and very un accommodating, arguing that it is clean until he asked her to come to the villa and they can talk then, at which point she acknowledged it was not clean and not up to standards once shown.
I ordered a Caesar salad off of the menu with a wrap on the side which had a “slow cooked parfait egg” and no sign in the description of any fish (anchovy’s) and if it did I would have asked for them to be removed as I am allergic. They called me to double check the order and asked about the wrap to which they said yes no problem. The salad arrived with a COMPLETELY UNCOOKED egg over the top! I honestly couldn’t believe it 🫠🤢😂 it also had anchovy’s and no wrap, which is what they called to confirm with me that is what I wanted??? My partner picked at the bits of chicken which tasted like cardboard and we left the rest. As we headed out for dinner we explained to the front desk who were lovely and said not a problem we will remove from your bill.
It comes to the very end of our stay and on checkout in the lobby we had some charges to pay for which I thought was odd seeming as the only item I ever had and paid for there and then was an iced tea? It turns out, this very rude elderly french director decided to CHARGE US £25 FOR 1/2 a BUCKET OF ICE which my partner requested so he could keep the champagne cold for my birthday?! Absolutely nothing was mentioned about a charge for this “service” and this rude woman kept saying that it is in the Terms & conditions and that every hotel works differently. I couldn’t believe a 5 star “luxury villa” would charge anyone for half a small bucket of ice… Infact ANY hotel of any kind would never charge for ice??? She also charged us for the salad with the uncooked egg & fish, after the staff said was complimentary.. She is a complete scam artist and if we weren’t careful she would have charged us for flushing the loo. The whole experience was honestly awful, it really affected my whole birthday during my stay and would never recommend anyone to ever come here. Please, do not get fooled by the photos. It is a stale, cold, unfriendly, unclean place with absolutely 0 ambiance or atmosphere. Please please, go somewhere else ❤️ ps I have never written a negative review, I don’t believe in them unless they are truly the last resort. we tried to sort things in person and it still went badly so here I am 🫠

REMOVE THE LUXURY FROM THE NAME OF THIS PLACE !!!!!! — Kelki Luxury Lodge
Pros:

REMOVE THE LUXURY FROM THE NAME OF THIS PLACE !!!!!! — Kelki Luxury Lodge

The lobby toilet was really gross!! 🤢 it was like a mini wild life growing in there. VERY DIRTY!!!!

In the golf cart, while going to the room, the driver hit the cart on the turn near our room and we both hit our knees really bad! We never sat on that cart again! The driver didn’t apologise and laughed.

We get into the room, the swimming pool was not clean, the bathtub had algae in it and it was really gross!! we couldn’t use any of the facilities on the first day.

We called for a cesar salad and they mentioned they don’t have any prawns but we still called for it. When the salad arrived the egg in it wasn’t cooked. And it had anchovies in it and it was no where mentioned on it. So we decided not to eat it as my girlfriend was allergic to it. I called the MANAGER which is an OLD RUDE FRENCH LADY who talked to me on the phone is a very bad tone! I told her to come and talk to me in person. When she arrived she was the most arrogant and rude person I have ever talked to in my life!! I explained to her all the problems I was facing and told her to sit and talk as she was old. After a while I thought she did understand but no she dint and she proved that on the checkout.

She told me that there is a policy of no outside alcohol and food but when she came in the room and check by herself there was no such policy given to us. And I had given the staff my champagne and cake to celebrate the birthday and at no point did they tell me it was not allowed and in fact they helped me with everything!!!!!! She just was finding a reason to charge me.

It was my girlfriend’s birthday so I called the room cleaning staff the next day and told them to please clean the room again. Still even after that the room was really really dirty. The toothbrush and the toothpick are made of bamboo which is good but it had mould over it, if I used it would definitely been sick!

On the check out she charged me for the salad which the waiter clearly told us that he was not going to charge. And on top of that she charged us £25 POUNDS FOR ICE to keep the Champaign cold !!! Seriously, this is the worst service I have every had in my life and would recommend everyone not to go on the pictures, as it is no way close to any ‘Luxury’

Pros:

The first thing to really note is that this hotel has some of the best staff in the world. They went above and beyond on a daily basis to not only make our stay extremely comfortable but also that our kids felt welcome and safe. Our two kids loved the staff. They also helped us with transport wherever we wanted to go and nothing was too much trouble.

The food was very nice but the facilities were quite limited while we were there. No lunch, pool bar closed, no tasting menu's etc It was just coming into season, and we weren't aware that the menu would be as limited as it was, and with young kids we were largely reliant on the hotel for dinner every single night and with the limitations it did get a little repetitive. So again, food was good but it would have been nice to know that it wold be limited upon booking.

Room was very nice, pool was excellent and housekeeping were excellent. It's next to rice fields and in the jungle so you have to expect a lot of insects and we had a Gecko in our roof, which we didn't mind at all but I know some people would. So just know that you're booking a hotel in the jungle. The views were absolutely outstanding and all the locals were friendly.

We used the hotel to take private tours and we really enjoyed this. It was informative, useful and really helpful for us. Just need to be aware that traffic is really bad so whole day trips will take a long time, the hotel offer full day trips to different parts of Bali and it will take that.
