Central hotel with beautiful nature scenery, no frills stay in SF.
Pros:

Beautiful, nature focused, generally quiet, private but in the middle of everything. I would stay again.

Cons:

The pillows were a 0/10, I had to take off a sheet & fold it on top of my two pillows to sleep, thin walls so when you do have neighbors, you can certainly hear them. A few little crumbs on the floor when we first got there. We tried to go to the restaurant a few times, but they were out of stock of the things we wanted to try most.

Step back in time but with all the modern conveniences
Pros:

This cute little boutique hotel has such a vibe! Groovy lounge with live music, excellent food truck for am and pm fresh fare. Room was super cute retro and clean.

An affordable, comfortable, fun southwestern stay!
Pros:

This was quite a find and a gem in Santa Fe! Everything about it was wonderful. I loved the experience and how affordable it was. My room was super cute and very clean. The motel had a lot to offer a guest in terms of a cute bar, a lounge area with a Kiva fireplace, an entertainment during the stay. The staff was very friendly and competent. I would go back and stay in a heartbeat!

Loved our stay- we'll be back!
Pros:

Loved the vibe- it was so quaint and felt like you were on a far away vacation. It was a super close drive to the railyard, the plaza, Meow Wolf, everywhere we planned to visit. We loved the entertainment- live music one night and tarot readings another. Drinks and food from La Reina were perfect!

Rooms $200 a night but they can't afford fitted sheets
Pros:

The grounds are very nice and a piece of history but that's the nicest thing I can say; the room had mildew in the bathroom, a leaky faucet, and no fitted sheets.

Stylish but lacking substance
Pros:

El Rey is a stylish hotel and that's what it has going for it. The atmosphere is fun and young, with fresh paint on an old motel that has good bones. Landscaping is lovely and gives the property a vintage charm. However the current way it's run feels a little scammy. Even though the photos online are really cute, don't expect rooms to actually be decorated. Our spartan King room had an extra bed but no table to sit at, no rugs, no art, and was really close to the road. The thick concrete walls keep it quiet in the rooms, but the property was weirdly busy and noisy for a Sunday night with people attending the music event in the lobby. Parking costs extra even though it's a motel with a huge lot (they'll call this an amenity fee) and they'll send you annoying emails asking you to bid on room upgrades like they're running some kind of charity auction. Lots of style but lacking substance. Stay in a chain and save your $75.

Love this place
Pros:

We had a beautiful stay at El Rey Court in Santa Fe and honestly started talking about coming back before we even checked out.

Renee at the front desk made us feel welcome immediately. That first impression matters, and she nailed it. We had a bundle of firewood brought to our room, and having a working fireplace after spending the day out in the desert was such a unique and cozy experience. The nights get chilly out there, and sitting by the fire with my partner made the whole stay feel special.

The property itself has a lot of character. We loved wandering through the greenhouse filled with cactus, and it was fun that you could actually buy plants. There’s a pool for warmer months, a hot tub that was perfect at night, and entertainment like live music and tarot readings that gave the place a relaxed, communal feel without being overwhelming.

One of the best parts is being able to drive right up to your room while still feeling like you’re somewhere charming and thoughtfully designed. It’s easy, comfortable, and doesn’t feel fussy.

We absolutely loved staying here and will definitely be back the next time we’re in Santa Fe.

The vibes!
Pros:

We LOVED our stay at El Rey. Cool Sante Fe vibes, friendly staff, great food and a home-y room that felt more like a home or apartment than a hotel. Can't wait to stay here again.

El Rey - oasis in the desert
Pros:

Lovely clean room with vintage decor. Good value. Quiet and tranquil. I appreciated the garden area outside my room, and the various outdoor seating areas around the compound. Although on a main drag, the grounds are peaceful and relaxing.

Great Stay!
Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at El Ray for two nights in March 2026. The staff were welcoming, check-in was easy, and our room was perfect. The grounds are well maintained and our room had a fireplace, with wood stocked each day. The bar is stylish and has excellent cocktails, and there was live music one night during our stay, which was great. We would absolutely stay again!

Best of Santa Fe in one hotel…
Pros:

The best stay in Santa Fe…..we visit often and always look to the El Rey as our first choice. The rooms and the service are second to none…..beautiful property with nothing left to desire.
