Fantastic staff, spacious rooms, dog friendly!
Pros:

We were in town for a youth basketball tournament. Three of our youth teams and their families all stayed at the Colonial Inn. The staff were very nice and extremely accommodating to the fact that we had 30+ kids in our group and probably 50+ adults and siblings. The rooms were spacious and recently updated. It wasn't the cleanest hotel I've ever been to but I cannot imagine another hotel being as accommodating and understanding as they were and that was worth way more to us than anything else. We also brought our dog and the staff never once made us feel like our dog was a nuisance. The dog actually figured out that he needed to stop by the front desk every time we went for a walk because they gave him treats! This will be a weekend our kids will never forget and it would not have been the same if we stayed anywhere else.

DONT STAY HERE
Cons:

DONT STAY HERE......I'm staying with a group of friends and they put me in the small building in the back separate from the main building with the pool and breakfast. Also away from my group ...... I asked the front desk to move me to the main building. He said because I booked through Booking.com he couldn't...... then I get to the room and there is no coffee maker..... call the front desk and guess what he says...... sorry we don't supply coffee makers in the back building..... you'll need to come to the main building in the morning......... again DONT STAY HERE

Appreciate the coffee. Toast and juice.

Cons:

Breakfast was sparse. Waffle maker and some type of egg would be nice. The min frozen waffle packet crumbles on me when I opened it up.

Good alternative to overpriced big-name alternatives.
Pros:

Ellsworth is a great "jumping-off point" for Bar Harbor / Acadia Nat. Park, or places further "Down East". Hotel is convenient to Walmart, Home Depot, and Ellsworth itself. Double Queen room had kitchenette.

Cons:

Room was more than adequate, had some selective updates, but overall appearance has seen better days - is a bit "tired" looking (old bedspreads, stained ceiling tiles, new kitchenette counter lacking edge trim, dated reception area...)
