Categories

Cleanliness
1
Multiple reviews explicitly note rooms as 'lovely clean and new', 'modern, spotless', 'nice and clean' and 'freshly decorated' — overall strong positive on cleanliness.
Service
1
Staff repeatedly described as friendly, welcoming, accommodating and helpful; guests mention being treated like family and staff going out of their way.
Location
1
Consistently praised: beautiful riverside/mountain setting, very close to train station and town, easy parking and pleasant surroundings.
Room Quality
1
Rooms described as newly renovated, comfortable beds, excellent showers and good in-room equipment (TV, coffee maker); one guest noted windows didn’t fully block outside sound.
Amenities
1
Good on-site amenities mentioned (breakfast, bar, parking), but the property is explicitly not dog-friendly — several guests flagged this limitation which reduces perceived amenities for pet owners.
Value for Money
1
Some guests praised value, but a small set of practical limitations (pet policy, occasional noise) were raised and may reduce perceived value for affected guests.
Food and Beverage
1
Breakfast and meals earn praise in several reviews ('very good', 'excellent', 'delicious'), but the mixed nature of comments (pub-style portions, variable expectations) and isolated issues noted lead to a cautiously negative aggregate here.
Overall Experience
1
Many guests describe an excellent, welcoming stay and plan to return, but recurring negatives (not dog-friendly policy and occasional noise) meaningfully affect overall experience for some visitors — yielding a mixed overall score.

Everything exceeded our expectations
Pros:

Just home from an overnight stop to celebrate my son’s wedding
What a lovely place
The rooms are modern and well equipped.
The beds are super comfortable and the shower was excellent
Above all though, the staff and local people are so friendly and welcoming
I have to particularly thank Richard who kindly took us to the local golf club where the evening reception was due to lack of taxis and also a thank you to Hannah for being so friendly

Cons:

There was nothing to dislike, everything was 100% spot on and could not be faulted

Could not fault this wonderful hotel. The location was perfect, the staff were friendly and so helpful and our room was spotlessly clean.
Would highly recommend if you’re thinking of staying here.

Great place to stay, I'll be back in a couple of weeks!
Pros:

Room and en-suite bathroom looked brand new. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, and the food was delicious, steak for dinner and a great full Welsh with locally sourced breakfast - didn't need much else for the rest of the day!
Free park opposite.
This is a great base for exploring the area. Great to support the local community without the hotel chain prices.

Visiting family over Easter
Pros:

The food. The staff. The location. The locals - Yes, they were all very friendly. I liked sitting outside the Cresselly in the evening and watching the sun go down. I plan to book again for next Easter!

Cons:

I thought that the room was a bit small; But I soon got used to it. The shower was great and I got to watch back episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show. A small thing; but when you're staying in a hotel small things matter.
On the whole, my stay was a very positive experience! 😊
