Categories

Cleanliness
1
Generally reported as clean (lobby and rooms mentioned as clean several times), though a few guests noted dated decor and occasional minor maintenance issues (damaged door handle, wet/slippery bath). Overall slightly positive.
Service
1
Mixed reports: some guests praised very helpful staff who resolved booking and booking-change issues, while multiple guests experienced serious access/check-in problems (no in-person reception, key-box/code failures, poor phone responsiveness) and at least one report of indifferent responses to noise complaints.
Location
1
Consistently highlighted as a major positive: central, ideal location and within walking distance of major points (multiple reviews cite excellent/central location).
Room Quality
1
Mixed to negative: some rooms noted as spacious, comfortable beds and balcony, but several reports of poor condition — shower not working, lumpy beds, inability to open a window, dated decor and other maintenance issues.
Amenities
1
Basic in-room amenities were present and appreciated (kettle, tea/coffee, iron, toiletries noted). A few small misses (no body wash in dispenser) but overall adequate.
Value for Money
1
Multiple guests described the hotel as good value or reasonably priced for the location; several comments indicate expectations met relative to price.
Food and Beverage
1
Not mentioned in the reviews; assigned the target overall rating.
Overall Experience
1
A mix of positive stays (comfortable rooms, helpful staff in some cases, good location) and notably negative arrival/check-in experiences and noise issues led to a slightly negative overall impression.

Good once I got into the room.
Pros:

It wasvery modern and comfortable. The Room was lovely but the window did not close properly.

Cons:

I have never had so much bother and hassle to book the room. I appreciate the hotel was unmanned and I have stayed in similar hotels. But I have never had to upload photos of myself and my drivers licence. Also my card was refused numerous times although there were sufficient funds available. Any staff ( Chrissie) that I spoke to on the phone were very helpful. It became quite stressful as I thought my card had been hacked.

Enjoyed our short stay, would use it again
Pros:

Location was excellent, very central, good communication from owners. First time we’ve used a ‘no reception’ booking, key was in a lock box accessed by code in the foyer.

Cons:

Shower door was missing, curtain was used instead.

Absoiute Nightmare/
Pros:

No Breakfast at this location and No Milk also.

Cons:

i am going to make a complaint to booking /com First of all trying to check in is a complete nighmare there is no reception when you arrive it took me 2and half hours to check in, there is no customer service number in the so called reception, when you finally get through after 50 minutes there is no awnser to your call the whole thing is a complete disaster, this is not a hotel booking.com is Missleading people saying its a hotel when it is not, there is aso the matter Regarding Being woken up every night around 4.15 until 6.30 am by extemely noisy crashing of bottles by bin men and trucks and beeping continuos noises people arguing in the street for long periods of time, its the worst experience i have ever had, could not get any sleep, booking .com has a duty of care to provide proper information regarding hotel accomadation which is not extremely safe and is extremeley noisy, i could not open my safe in my room on the last day of my stay it had to be taken away and opened that took all day overall it was a nightmare of a experience staying at this place, and i would not stay at this so called hotel, which is not a hotel ever again, and i will be demand a Full Refund and compensation from you Thankyou, Johnny.

Nice area but our room had some room for improvement.
Pros:

The location of the hotel was perfect, 2 minutes walk from Mathew Street and other nice pubs / bars & restaurants.

Cons:

Annoying that we wasn’t able to open the windows to give us fresh air which, made us feel quite claustrophobic at times. The shower door also didn’t close properly while having a shower. They had a kettle in the room however it was not working. Maybe this was just our room so I can’t speak for the rest of the hotel but it was unfortunate for us that we seemed to have drawn the short straw.

Hotel is good but the booking in process is rediculase. Won’t be using the hotel again.
Pros:

Location and the support staff

Cons:

The hotel doesn’t have a manned reception. Booked through Trivago, no mention of a rebooking with hotel owner Epic. I had to scan photo idea, complete a second booking form. I then had to wait for a text detailed the door pass number and the number for the room key box. The text arrived just before the check in time, and there’s no facility to store luggage. The key box number was wrong and I had to contact the support staff who resolved the matter. The whole checking in process is overly complicated. Just employ someone to man the reception.
