Modern, clean, comfortable, quiet, spacious rooms.
The location is close to everywhere but not especially pretty.
Sehr neues modernes Hotel mit industriellem Design.
Nettes Personal
The bunk bed room was spacious and clean, with high ceilings so it feels even larger. Has storage for every bed, so its very convenient for friends or families, each one with a proper space. I could definitely stay for a week there.
The hotel has a beautiful restaurant and bar by night, not noisy, quite hip aparently. They kept our luggage after check out without any problem and they are very kind.
The hotel has a nice restaurant and you can obviously have breakfast but it has few options and eventhough the food is very nice is super expensive and too complicated food for every-day-breakfast in a long stay. Should offer some other simple menu for hotel clients (besides cookies or bread).
The room had just one chair, for a 4 bed room. We literaly sat on the floor to chat not so far from the others in the room. At least another chair or a stool to chat for some time. :)
Amazing hotel. Architecturally fascinating in its conversion. The staff were brilliant. Friendly and attentive, the bar staff especially. Initially we balked at the cost of breakfast but gave it a try and it was amazing - almost too beautiful to eat and such great variety and portions that it was well worth the price - in fact it was exceedingly good value. My friends loved having a piano you could play and I loved hearing other guests play - especially the one who played the Succession theme one morning... Great mix of clientele as well - fun morning chats when getting coffee with other guests. The coffee was also excellent. The rooms were incredibly clean, amazing water pressure in the shower and the bed was very comfortable.
I'd forgotten how loud the city is so the first night was a bit of a shock with construction work going on nearby (coupled with jetlag), but not the hotels fault. The design is very masculine, so I was a bit frustrated by not enough space for clothes and the bathroom was very dark so difficult for makeup, putting in contact lenses etc. Initially a bit shocked by there not being any in room items (coffee maker, additional toiletries - usual hotel stuff). I'd not brought a shower cap as there's always one in a room but there wasn't, but reception staff were happy to help and gave me a couple. I knew I would probably bump my shin on the corner of the bed frame! These were my gripes but I was jet lagged...
Beautiful hotel and the room we booked was big and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Probably a 20-25 min walk to the closest subway which was our oversight but in retrospect it would have made our travels easier being closer to a station. There is a bus stop a minute walk away though and that was good.
A nice restaurant, a nice entrance, friendly staff, a nice dining area
A view of the harbor?? No way—the window doesn’t open 180 degrees; if you press your head against the glass, you can barely make out the harbor. The air conditioning blows straight onto the bed, set rigidly at 66 degrees Fahrenheit, so you freeze; you can’t turn it off; you won’t fall asleep—the noise is so loud there’s no chance of sleep, unless you have earplugs in. It was supposed to have a coffee maker, but there wasn’t one. You’ll be sweating in this room temperature—it’s like a cold-water challenge. I don’t recommend it,
Comfy beds, loved the bar downstairs, the piano, the breakfast was incredible
Would have been great to have a coffee machine in the room. Maybe a few more hangers.
The staff was absolutely a pleasure! My daughter and I were in the city to walk for NY Fashion Week. It's as such an AMAZING experience. To be able to rest and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city was a blessing! We shall definitely return!
The room is something straight out of a movie! From the moment you enter the ambiance captures you. Sela V is breath taking. You can tell the owners were intentional throughout the process.
Please know the staff went above and beyond. Give the staff a raise!
The gym was pretty nice and empty so I got it all to myself
The location isn’t the best, I expected it to be more convenient to get places around town.
Sela V is a beautifully designed hotel, and I especially loved the lobby and restaurant space. The interiors are thoughtfully done, the value is great, and the location was perfect for my visit.
The biggest problem is the lack of soundproofing. I was woken up multiple times throughout my stay by everything from guests playing music to the elevator dinging and people simply having conversations in the hallway. Sound echoes throughout the corridors, and I eventually had to buy earplugs just to get a decent night's sleep. For a hotel this thoughtfully designed, the acoustics feel like a major oversight.
There also seem to be some growing pains with the coordination between the hotel and restaurant. While I really enjoyed the restaurant itself, the staff weren't aware of the breakfast included with my stay and told me the restaurant was separate from the hotel. This was confusing, especially since the restaurant is directly next to check-in and the drinks menu is branded Sela V Hotel. There also wasn't a dinner menu available, which added to the confusion.
Guest communication could also be much better. There wasn't any of the usual hotel information provided in the room, whether a printed welcome guide or a digital alternative. Basic details like breakfast inclusions, restaurant hours, checkout times, and hotel amenities would have been helpful, particularly given the confusion between the hotel and restaurant.
Even small operational details could be improved. For example, complimentary drip coffee is offered to hotel guests, but you still have to wait in the regular barista line to get it. A simple self-serve coffee station would make the experience much more convenient.
Despite these frustrations, I would stay again. The beautiful design, good value, and convenient location are compelling enough to bring me back. It feels like a hotel with a lot of potential that just needs to work through some operational growing pains. I hope they address the acoustics in particular, because that would make a huge difference in the overall experience.
The lobby was beautiful and the room was spacious, if quite minimal. The beds were comfortable, and the curtains blocked the light well. The shower was roomy with really good water pressure, and the toiletries provided were excellent.
The location only works if you have business in Brooklyn: Manhattan is poorly connected, buses are infrequent, and we ended up taking a Lyft every time. The room isn't quiet even with the windows closed, as the windows are poorly insulated and you can hear traffic from the nearby highway all night, followed by road works across the street in the morning. Service was also slow and inconsistent: the complimentary water had to be requested every single day, the room wasn't cleaned twice until we asked, and the coffee machine advertised on the website wasn't in the room until we requested it.
Everything. The staff is great. Very accommodating. Super friendly and chill. Definitely a vibe and I loved it.
I don’t like that it was kinda far from
The train station. I’m use to a five min walk to the train station every time I visit nyc. If I stay come back here it would be because of the staff.
Exceptional design and atmosphere, very good service, spacious rooms, shops and services within a 10min walk. Very nice commute option with NYC Ferry stop within 10-15mins walk.
Out room with a terrace didn't have much sunlight. It wasn't a big issue as we spent all days in the city. The hotel is not close to the subway so you need to take a bus or bike to get to the nearest line.
